Amazing show. I'm not sure if it was just being in a HUGE arena for an NXT show that made it feel like a "Wrestlemania" show for NXT due to the scale difference, but it definitely had that aura.

It's bizarre how well the "indie" crowd scaled to a 15000 person show. Like, who would have ever thought "Blue Pants" would get a massive pop in a 15k-seat arena?

I don't really like Bayley (COME AT ME BROS), because I just don't feel like she's on the same level as the other "Four Horsewomen" but it was an incredible match that made me care about seeing her win, even if they almost died a few times.

Ladder match didn't quite hit the same bar, but it was good.

If WWE runs more of these day-before-a-big-PPV NXT in a giant arena shows, they're going to run a very real risk of a very peculiar problem: their "developmental" show is going to be a better product putting on better shows in front of a better, more engaged crowd of the same size as their "big PPV."

I'm not sure how exactly you handle that.

There is no way that Lesnar/Undertaker takes me in the same way that Sasha/Bayley did tonight.

I give zero fucks about Taker's retribution, and I know that Lesnar should be able to destroy the guy.

Probably Lockdown 2008, which had about 5000 people. Not even close.

Apparently the most TNA have ever drawn in the US is around 7000.

I understand why fans love NXT, I really do. You have a chance to get invested in feuds and characters stories that the main roster just doesn't even try to do.

But to say that Summerslam has no chance of beating this show from an IN RING perspective is an exaggeration.

Summerslam will have Cena/Rollins, Owens/Cesaro, Bray/Harper/Reigns/Ambrose, Rusev/Dolph and Orton/Sheamus, all of which could have very fun matches, not to mention the fact that other matches could easily spring a surprise.

Woman's match won't come close obviously because it is a forced story and match to get them all involved, but SS could easily have a better in ring night than NXT

That tag match is 2/3 of what it should be.
Rusev/Dolph will probably devolve into hair pulling between the two women.
Oh yeah....really looking forward to that Orton/Sheamus match....totally.

Not good when you don't mention the main event of the show as something to look forward to.

I'm watching SS tonight, but I'm just not invested in much on tonight's show. I think that's fair. I'm interested in the outcomes, but I'm expecting to just want to fast forward through most of the middle of the matches. That's just me.

I only didn't mention the main because people have complained but I am intrigued and def curious to watch. Tag match will still be good quality as will Sheamus and Orton even if it is not an intriguing feud anymore.

For all their booking problems, the main shows rarely disappint for match quality and a 4 hour Summerslam will make sure to have quality matches on it. They can't overdo duff finishes on the 2nd biggest show of the year...

I'm curious if they will do an NXT vs WWE angle at some point based on recent success.

Its funny how they have wanted to create fake competition even since WCW closed shop. This is the most legit second brand they have created - where it has a different look and feel from regular WWE programming.

However, I hope they never try that because it will ruin NXT.

ECW was actually pretty great during the early months (July-Dec. 2006), but then they inexplicably took all creative powers away from Paul Heyman, which marked a huge dropoff in quality of the shows right around the same time Big Show went on his 14-month injury/surgery/weight loss time off until Feb. '08.

This is on another level though. NXT just did a $700k+ gate. They have a UK tour coming up. This is a viable brand. ECW was never this successful.

Great show.

* Jushin Liger showed up and looked really good. I hope this evolves into issues with Tyler Breeze and top international talent booked by William Regal.

* The Vaudevillains winning the Tag Titles was pretty hot. Blue Pants showing up was great, and I can't wait to see her mix it up with Alexa Bliss. The tag tournament should be interesting. Jason Jordan & Chad Gable drop it to Enzo & Cass in the finals, I hope. Let that start a feud between the teams. Blake & Murphy can keep their issue with English & Gotch alive based on their personal issues right now.

* I liked the hype video they did for Joe vs. Corbin. Joe's probably the next in line for an NXT Title shot at the October Takeover, which works fine for me. Corbin and Rhyno will probably hover around the feud too.

* Tye Dillinger is pretty fucking good at what he does. Apollo Crews seemed like he fit in. I'd actually like to see him mix it up with Tyler Breeze in the future.

* The women's match drew me in. Great psychology from the girls. I don't think I liked it as much as Banks vs. Becky, but Bayley got a great moment here. I'm not sure where they go with the Women's Title now, but Emma seems like a great interim challenger while they build-up Nia Jax.

* Kevin Owens is such a great heel.
