The "VANCOUVER" is retarded. And the whale is stupid. It looks like the team is named the Vancouver Whalers. They wanted to keep tradition in the new unis but come on, there is no tradition. How many cups have the Canucks won? Thats right.

Also, the 'Vancouver' part of it, it's being said, is to capitalize on the 2010 Olympics. With all the tourists that are coming, anything that says 'Vancouver' on it will be a hot seller.

I think St. Louis might be this year's surprise team. Manny Legace might be better with more defense backing him up. Erik Johnson is starting this year and so far he's been looking pretty good.

When I watched the highlights of the hit last night, it seemed to me that the ref didn't even call it a penalty. IF I saw that right, there is a serious problem with the officiating in this league. it happened right in front of the ref, Downie left his feet, it was clearly a major foul, a hit to the head (which they say they are cracking down on) and yet no penalty call.

I thought the NHL was the elite hockey league.

IF I saw that right, there is a serious problem with the officiating in this league. it happened right in front of the ref, Downie left his feet, it was clearly a major foul, a hit to the head (which they say they are cracking down on) and yet no penalty call.

I thought the NHL was the elite hockey league.
The refs gave him a match penalty, so a suspension is automatic, what it entails we shall see.

McAmmond had an interview today. The guy had some sobering statements about it. Downie's apologized, McAmmond has accepted it, but I do believe he needs a big suspension and Massive fine to the Flyers organization.

If it were 'up to me', I'd fine the Flyers 1 million dollars and have the Flyers loose a 3rd round draft choice (or something like that) to the Senators. If the NHL wants to really crack down on this type of stuff, they got to get so serious. You can bet that if a punishment system like that were put into effect, then you'd see a decline in head shots, cheap shots such as these.

Downie got 20 games, must be served in the NHL. So the Flyers have to basically keep him on their NHL roster for 20 games.

He has to be on an NHL roster for the entirety of his 20 game suspension which means they can't just send hm down and have him serve it there, plus if they tried to send him down the AHL would likely honour the NHL suspension and not let him play until he finishes his NHL suspension.

Then He'll play there I guess but he can't play a minute in the NHL until his suspension is up, which means he won't be available for an emergency call up or anything.

Anyway he was suspended for 30 days in the AHL, so the Flyers put him back on their roster and he'll likely sit for 20 games or until he's elligible to play in the AHL
