There goes Tice, kind of weird to see him go. It's also odd, just because in Minnesota we don't get rid of coaches all that often.

So atm we're down Mariucci, Tice, Vermeil and Capers. Haslett and Norv Turner are almost certainties, Martz/Vitt in all likelihood won't be in St Louis, Mularkey may or may not go as well (though he's less likely than those previous). That's 7 vacancies almost certainly, possibly more. Any bets on some replacements/more vacancies?

Martz could be a good fit in KC or Minnesota.
Mariucci probably could have a NFL job "if" he wanted it, but words been he wants a TV job. I woudln't be shocked to see Haslett endup somewhere. Is Parcells contract up this year or next year? He could decide to "retire again". might be time for Brian Billick to move on and if he does leave, he'll get another coaching job if he wants it. Could this be the year Gary Kubiak finally takes a head coaching job? Seems every year his name comes up and he never goes anywhere, of his own choice... |

Parcells has 1 year left from what I understand. Ravens already announced that Billick will be there next year.

Next year's early schedule is up, no dates/times yet but the teams to be played against should give a good idea what kind of strength of schedule there will be. I won't list the divisional games cause we all know what they'll be, but it basically boils down to
AFC East plays NFC North AFC North plays NFC South AFC South plays NFC East AFC West plays NFC West (no griping about cross country next year) AFC East Buffalo Home: Jacksonville, Tennessee, Green Bay, Minnesota, San Diego Away: Houston, Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore Miami Home: Jacksonville, Tennessee, Green Bay, Minnesota, Kansas City Away: Houston, Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh New England Home: Houston, Indianapolis (start the arguments now ), Chicago, Detroit, DenverAway: Jacksonville, Tennessee, Green Bay, Minnesota, Cincinnati NY Jets Home: Houston, Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Oakland Away: Jacksonville, Tennessee, Green Bay, Minnesota, Cleveland AFC North Baltimore Home: Oakland, San Diego, Atlanta, Carolina, Buffalo Away: Denver, Kansas City, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Tennessee Cincinnati Home: Oakland, San Diego, Atlanta, Carolina, New England Away: Denver, Kansas City, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis (oh my )Cleveland Home: Denver, Kansas City, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, NY Jets Away: Oakland, San Diego, Atlanta, Carolina, Houston Pittsburgh Home: Denver, Kansas City, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Miami Away: Oakland, San Diego, Atlanta, Carolina, Jacksonville AFC South Houston Home: Buffalo, Miami, Philadelphia, Washington, Cleveland Away: New England, NY Jets, Dallas, NY Giants, Oakland Indianapolis Home: Buffalo, Miami, Philadelphia, Washington, Cincinnati Away: New England, NY Jets, Dallas, NY Giants, Denver (oh my )Jacksonville Home: New England, NY Jets, Dallas, NY Giants, Pittsburgh Away: Buffalo, Miami, Philadelphia, Washington, Kansas City Tennessee Home: New England, NY Jets, Dallas, NY Giants, Baltimore Away: Buffalo, Miami, Philadelphia, Washington, San Diego AFC West Denver Home: Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Seattle, Indianapolis Away: Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Arizona, St Louis, New England Kansas City Home: Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Seattle, Jacksonville Away: Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Arizona, St Louis, Miami Oakland Home: Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Arizona, St Louis, Houston Away: Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Seattle, NY Jets San Diego Home: Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Arizona, St Louis, Tennessee Away: Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo NFC East Dallas Home: New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Houston, Indianapolis, Detroit Away: Atlanta, Carolina, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Arizona NY Giants Home: New Orleans (just like this year then ), Tampa Bay, Houston, Indianapolis, ChicagoAway: Atlanta, Carolina, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Seattle Philadelphia Home: New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Houston, Indianapolis, Green Bay Away: Atlanta, Carolina, Jacksonville, Tennessee, San Francisco Washington Home: New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Houston, Indianapolis, Minnesota Away: Atlanta, Carolina, Jacksonville, Tennessee, St Louis NFC North Chicago Home: San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, Miami, Tampa Bay Away: Arizona, St Louis, New England, NY Jets, NY Giants Detroit Home: San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, Miami, Atlanta Away: Arizona, St Louis, New England, NY Jets, Dallas Green Bay Home: Arizona, St Louis, New England, NY Jets, New Orleans Away: San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, Miami, Philadelphia Minnesota Home: Arizona, St Louis, New England, NY Jets, Carolina Away: San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, Miami, Washington NFC South Atlanta Home: Dallas, NY Giants, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Arizona Away: Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Detroit Carolina Home: Dallas, NY Giants, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, St Louis Away: Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Minnesota New Orleans Home: Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Cincinnati, San Francisco Away: Dallas, NY Giants, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Green Bay Tampa Bay Home: Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Seattle Away: Dallas, NY Giants, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Chicago NFC West Arizona Home: Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Kansas City, Dallas Away: Green Bay, Minnesota, Oakland, San Diego, Atlanta St Louis Home: Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Kansas City, Washington Away: Green Bay, Minnesota, Oakland, San Diego, Carolina San Francisco Home: Green Bay, Minnesota, Oakland, San Diego, Philadelphia Away: Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Kansas City, New Orleans Seattle Home: Green Bay, Minnesota, Oakland, San Diego, NY Giants Away: Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Kansas City, Tampa Bay The ones that immediately jump out at me are Cincinnati (v. tough), Seattle, (tough) and San Diego (pretty soft) |

As for Martz, he's a great offensive mind, the only problem I've always had with him, is he what he's doing isn't working, he's not willing to adapt, it's the "well, it can't be the system it must be the execution" attitude, and seems more willing to force a system on players rather then create a system for the players he has. That being said, he wouldn't be a horrible fit for the Vikes, with the talent you have, his system could work pretty well and hopefully he learned from his mistakes (see: Belicheck - Cleveland). |

You know, I was talking to my brother about this today... how many defensive head coaches are there available besides Ron Rivera to be hired? I mean, are there any who lost their jobs? Aren't ALL of the guys who have been fired... offense-minded coaches? Whenever a defensive coordinator gets a head coaching job, he always keeps his job. Because when you build around defense, you don't have to be that good on offense, and when you focus on the tougher side of the ball, you're bound to be a tougher team because of it. I think Ron Rivera might be pretty good; Kubiak if at all possible... dunno, someone like that. Bring back Ditka. lol, just no more offense... at least if we plan on winning. |

Sherman is a pretty good coach. He is just a horrible, horrible General Manager.
Vikings would be wise to bring him in to just coach, leaving Brzynski to do the amazing job of staffing he's done. |

Thompson said his decision didn't have anything to do with the record this year, he knows we had a bad record because of injuries.
Hopefully this won't affect Favre's decision...we need Mariucci or that Childress guy from Philly. |

Rams have asked for permission to speak to Ron Rivera. I know the Bears D is great and all but I dunno if it'd be so wise a choice as head coach.
