How did they used to build up main event feuds back when wrestling was "good"...

Was it always like this...

10-25 min promo... then the person who is feuding with the person giving the promo comes out and they have a quick "scuffle"... for like 4 weeks in a row... like the same formula over and over...

Has it always been like this...

Pretty much similar things but a lot more back-and-forth stuff and less monologue stuff that might have started with the brand split era. Also a better mix of action and talking to build feuds.

Cena and Triple H are easily the WWE's biggest offenders with long winded promos leading to nothing.

Don't get me wrong he's not bad but like with all aspects of being a wrestler, he's in that bracket below all the top guys. Hence why he's never been the guy to make money but the guy you put in the ring with the guy that makes money.

He was a great heel. In 2000.

I listened to an interview I think with Johnny Mundo wear he talked about realising the difference between being face and heel - the face gives the fans what they want and the heel takes away what they want.

It's a difficult spot for him because of how despised Roman Reigns is but if the crowd are chanting "YES" when you're smashing his face into the announce table, stop doing it.

Jericho has also talked about how when he turned heel in 2008 how he stopped doing anything that the fans would pop for or associate with his face character. So maybe give the crotch chops a rest.
