holy shit.

TEAM 1040/MOJO 730 (VANCOUVER) : reported the following rumour has been making the rounds involving a major deal between the Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks. Apparently first reported on a South Florida sportsradio station, the trade (in its various incarnations) would the Canucks ship a combination of Ed Jovanovski, Dan Cloutier, Jarkko Ruutu, Matt Cooke, and either prospect Ryan Kesler or a high draft pick to the Panthers in exchange for Roberto Luongo, Jay Bouwmeester, Khristian Huselius and a conditional pick.

insane if the Panthers do that.

also has to the JR back to Philly thing appearently it can't be done.

"I don’t believe that is possible. I believe Winnipeg once traded someone away for future considerations at the trading deadline back in the late 80’s and then in the off season received that player back. After that season, the NHL put in a rule that a player could not be traded back as the “future considerations”. I had thought it was Brent Ashton, but I don’t remember exactly."

If the Canucks weren't in a position to contend for the Cup, that wouldn't be a bad trade. I believe however it would be foolish on Vancouver's part at this time... I'd have to see the final player's involved to be completely sure of my opinion.

Luongo is all over the sports channels. He seems to be unhappy with Florida sending him in arbitration.

There was the Canucks rumour, a rumour sending him to Montreal along with Bouwmeester against Ryder, Theodore and a draft pic as well as an unspecified Carolina rumour.

NHL 05 has odd rating systems. The worst team is like 80 and the best is like 86. Not much of a difference.

LOL, OMG. The Canucks sign Anson Carter for a $Mil, when maybe they could have signed Teemu for the same money... Same thing with Ray Whitney. I hope Nonis has something up his sleeve be it this year or the next.

Well Teemu wanted to go back to the Ducks. He might have wanted more from a different team :/

but yeah, they should have went after Whitney a little harder.

They traded for Steve McCarthy today from the Hawks...got him for a 3rd rounder. He's gonna have a chance to be a top 4 dman on this squad, especially with Sopel gone now (dumb fucking move )

-edit-

Some idiot kid the other day tried to tell me that the Avalanch were going to be bad this year because they lost Foote and Forsberg. He then proceded to say that the Wild would be one of the best teams in the league. Even as a Wild fan I know thats stupid.

If you still have Sakic, Hejduk, Tanguay, and Blake, you are going to be better then a team based around Marion Gaborik, Pascal Dupuis, Filip Kuba, and Todd White.

Avs arnt going to dominate anymore...we saw signs of that when they didnt take their division for like...the first time since they became the avs...

they'll still be a competitive team though.

there has been so many changes though, its its hard to say whats going to happen :/

Although i'd be happy if the avs, ranger, leafs, flyers and red wings choked and atleast 1 of those teams dont make the playoffs.

Yeah I think the Atlantic Division is pretty much just gonna be about the Pens and the Flyers, then probably the Islanders.

This works out well as I do not like the Devils or the Rangers.

I hope the big teams make the playoffs, and then choke to the smaller teams like in 02/03

Yup biggest trade I'd say in the past 5-10 years or so in terms of it actually being talent for talent.

I really hope the d-man Ottawa throws in isn't soneone like Phillips or Pothier

I would have given up redden as the D-man since they're virtually gonna have to give Heatley the max contract considering he's probably the best young player in the NHL.

Can't happen, go back a page or two it's explained. There's a rule against it.

No way Heatley nets 7.8 mill a season and you're nuts if you throw in Redden here.

Redden can be traded off if need be later a net even more return.

Heatley wanted out so he better be prepraed to make less than Hossa and they better sign him for less than Hossa

Getting rid of Devries is a great move frees up 3 million dollars.

where did you hear Heatley wanted out ? there was no way Atlanta was gonna be able to sign both Heatley and Kovalchuk. Heatley is gonna sign a contract that will be bigger than Hossa's will probably have more years on it though but he will probably average atleast 6 mil a season.

No way Muckler trades Hossa to sign a guy for more money, that's nuts.

As for Heatley wanting out it's right in the link I posted.

Here's the quote:

"We had approached the Thrashers a couple of weeks ago requesting a change of environment," agent Stacey McAlpine told The Canadian Press. "It was an extremely difficult decision, but we all worked together to try and get things resolved and it looks like we were able to do that."

I can still guarantee he signs a bigger contract than Hossa. the difference is he'll be in Ottawa for along time and will probably end up with a contract that compares with Nash and lecavalier.

All reports I've read say it's gonna be around a 3 year contract

Same length as Hossa's so unless he makes like 6.5 mill a season or something crazy like that h'll sign for less. He better anyway or this trade sucks. Besides Heatley still has to prove himself after the car crash and the eye injury last winter while he was in Europe.

I feel alsmot certain this move was done to allow the Sens to keep CHara and Redden.
