I hate the Redskins with a passion, but they're going all out.
Drew Brees was signed to a 7 year contract worth $90 million. They've also worked out a deal to aquire TO, exchanging with Philadelphia all of their draft picks. The Redskins are also reportedly closing in on a deal to sign David Givens for a 5 year deal worth $20 million. Finally, LaVar Arrington has reportedly been paid $5 million dollars by the Redskins to man up, and is closing in on a deal with Washington for a 6 year deal worth over $50 million. Also rumored is that the Redskins have come to a word agreement with Bill Gates to aquire Microsoft for $40 billion. With all of these signings, the Redskins have still yet to exceed the cap limit, and it is reported that they will next pursue kicker Vinateri with a contract offer of over $40 million. ...Bastards. ![]() |

I like the move to get depth at the CB position, especially since Will Allen is more than likely going to get released. The signing of McQuarters makes me wonder if we will even keep Will Peterson with all the injuries he has had.

Taylor is a piece of garbage, last time I heard anything about that guy he was facing the possibility of lots of jail time. Dunno where that went.

Giants also signed some safety named Quentin Harris....who was Arizona's special teams gunner the past 2 years....this better not mean anything about Tyree
Chad Morton also got a 4-year deal to pad out the special teams for the long term. Tim Hasselbeck got a 3-year deal....which isn't bad but I was hoping they'd get a more proven backup like Fiedler in case Eli has a terrible game Eric Moulds has also officially asked the Bills for his release.......I'd like to see the Giants take a run at him if they still have the cap room. If necessary get rid of Petitgout. |

Even though he has a lot of problems off the field, he seems to have a lot of passion for the game on the field. I've heard a lot of good things about his work ethic and shit like that. Only bad thing i've heard about him work wise was when he didn't go to the optional Redskins off season work outs, instead deciding to stay in Miami and work out there. That isn't even that bad really, since he was just working out in a different place. The spitting incident was pretty bad but that was just his emotions getting to him. I'd much rather have a nutbag like him on my team then a guy like TO. TO's off the field issues led to on the field disturbances and really ruin the whole team, while Taylor's problems only effect him for the most part.

This is what I don't get. The Saints were pretty much a lock to draft Leinart, so this messes everything up. I assumed that Brees would sign with the Vikings once Daunte was traded. So now the Saints have a one-time Pro Bowl quarterback and a dominant rookie at their fingertips, while the Vikings are left with Brad Johnson.
I guess that's what happens when you start booing a guy after an MVP season and cheering for an average joe. Maybe we'll draft Brad Smith now ![]() |

YES, CULPEPPER TO DOLPHINS. WHOOOOOOO.
And Givens to TITANS. WHOOOOOO. (Titans are my home team, if you haven't seen it by now. Go Tennessee. ![]() Keyshawn Johnson was also released from the Cowboys, and T.O. has been officially released from Philadelphia. Does this mean we'll see T.O. in DALLAS? |

I'm starting to fear the Titans. Not this year tho. But its a fact that they will draft Leinart. He'll be good in a couple of years.

I'm booking on that too, RP. Not sure how they'll do this year. I'm HOPING they're playoff bound, but I have my doubts. But if they get Leinart (which is pretty much a certainty imo), they might go from being a sucky team to a good one.
As much as they've sucked the past couple of years, I still love 'em. Among a few other teams, but still, y'know. Hometown and all that. |

Good to hear the Giants re-signed Bob Whitfield. If we had to cut the Man of 1,000 Penalties I'd be more than comfortable with him starting at LT

If Harrington bombs/gets injured the Lions will at least have a veteran guy to go back on. And the NFL is not like a game of Madden. You can't just say, "Oooh, this guy threw for so and so yards and this many touchdowns, so he's going to make my team a Super Bowl contender!" There are a lot of things that have to be put into consideration beforehand. |

Nevermind. I'll do the research for you.... Jon Kitna (2003 - Last year as Bengals starter) 16 GS, 520 A, 324 C, 62.3%, 3591 YDS, 26 TD, 15 INT Joey Harrington (2004 - Best year as Lions starter) 16 GS, 489 A, 274 C, 56.0%, 3047 YDS, 19 TD, 12 INT Kitna is a much needed veteran upgrade over what you have now. Be happy with it. |

Givens
![]() I can't believe the Dolphins got Culpepper, that sucks. AFC East will probably be pretty tough now, they got a good combo with him and Ronnie Brown. What's the latest on Ricky Williams? Did he end up reversing that decision or what? I wouldn't be surprised if they waived it because I think he only failed it becuase he no showed, not because he actually failed due to taking drugs. Also, what is the status on Culpepper himself..he is going to be ready to play next year or what? Should be interesting to see what is going to happen in the draft now too, I saw a few mock drafts that didn't have AJ Hawk being the first defensive player off the board. I found that kind of ridiculous, the guy was an absolute beast in college, plus his combine numbers where pretty ridiculous (4.38 40 yard dash time and 40 inch vertical leap) |

Speaking of defenders in the draft, Mathias Kiwanuka from Boston College has been really dropping it seems. During the season I heard a lot about how he might even crack the top 10, but now I've seen a few mock drafts with him out of the first round. The majority of them had him in the late 1st though. He is a crazy athlete (One of my buddies plays at BC, and he said they where playin a pick up game of hoops one day and Kiwi dunked it from the free throw line haha) but he really kind of had a down year this past season (except for that one game where he had 5 sacks)

I really think Martz coming out and saying Harrington is his guy was huge for his confidence. With the Kitna signing though, his confidence is probably shot again. I think that has been Harrington's biggest problem. Kitna can produce though, Kitna brought the Bengals to 8-8 after they were awful for a long ass time. Only reason he lost his starting job was because of some guy named Carson Palmer, not because he was playing bad or something. It's really the best the Lions could do here. The Vikings weren't going to trade Culpepper to another team in their own division and I think signing Brees would have been a bad move because their is still a chance Harrington could pan out. Plus I think Saints overpaid Brees by a lot aswell.

Brees is only getting $10m the first year, same as he would've gotten if he'd been franchised. Most of his money comes after that, by which time he might be cut.

10 millon dollars is a lot for a guy coming off of shoulder surgery. The Chargers didnt feel he was worth 10 mil, that's why they didn't franchise him.

If I'm a Lions fan I'm pretty excited about this offseason. I mean you've got the guy who made Kurt Warner an MVP and the guy who mentored Carson Palmer both teaching Joey Harrington what they know. Couldn't hurt
