Pelfrey is throwing a great game, allows a baserunner in the 8th. Jerry pulls him and Pelf keeps his back to Manuel the whole time before handing the ball to the reliever and not looking at Manuel once. Fucking loved that.

The FOX announcer tried to make a big deal out of it being disrespectful, but I loved it. The players know he's an idiot and will be gone after this year. And whaddya know, the decision to go to the pen nearly cost them the game.

Padres decided to bring their bats to the ball park today. 6 to 4 victory over the red hot Rockies. Hopefully we don't get creamed tomorrow. Can't imagine Skippord is too happy right now.

I've been at work so I only know what I've read via boxscore.

How could you expect a loss? Rox have always had the Padres' number, especially this year. Not to mention, Rox have been on fire this month, and the Pads just got done with a demoralizing series with the Giants in which they knocked out our staff ace after 4 innings.

I was honestly expecting to get shelled, and even with a great offensive showing and a nice job by the bullpen, I'm not expecting tonight to be the start of a trend. Padres seem intent on crumbling and handing over both the wild card and the division.

Mostly because Jeff Francis is always awful against the Padres and he hasn't been stretched out at all since he just got off the DL. Figured this would be the game they lose this series and that they'd hopefully win the other two.

Got a feeling they'll win the next two. I hate sounding like I have no faith, but the Padres' offense is horrible. The pitching staff's earned run average over the 10 game losing streak was 5 plus. When you have an offense struggling to score 3 runs a game, that's not going to cut it.

Hopefully the picthing can keep the Rox to a minimum of 4 runs and the offense can manufacture some for the Padres. Otherwise it's going to be a long road trip.

I'm a bit worried about tomorrow since Jason Hammel is a mixed bag of pitching but I think the Rockies can hit Garland a little bit at least

Garland scares me in Coors. Groundball/sinker type guys don
t tend to have their ball break as well and lose movement in that ballpark. If he can keep the ball down I think they'll have a fighting chance.

Hoping the offense keeps up. Tejada has been the sparkplug they've needed him to be so now it's time for both Gonzalez and Ludwick to get it going. Especially Ludwick. He's been virtually nonexistent at the plate before last night.

So who is the AL MVP this year? Cabrera would be an easy choice but he's on a floundering 3rd place team. Same with Beltre. Bautista would be a nice story but only two MVPs in MLB history have hit under .270 and one of them was Roger Maris in his 61 season. Hamilton might not be back until the postseason so he'd have to win based on his stats right now. Cano will lose votes because of A-Rod and Tex having more RBIs.

I guess right now I'd have to say Hamilton, but I don't say that with much confidence.

Cabrera. I've always been a proponent that final standings shouldn't matter. My theory is that, yeah, the Tigers may be a floundering 3rd place team...but imagine where they'd be without him.

Looks like Selig realized how bad it was to have the World Series in November. Next season's schedule has the WS ending in October with the season itself starting a week earlier on March 30/31.

Whats even more amazing is the fact that the Os have a shot to win more games this year (currently 57-88) than they did last year (64-98), with a remote shot at 70 wins (they would need to go 13-4 the rest of the way). After the start they got off to (15-36 through May), that would be amazing.
