PITTSBURGH (CP) - Pittsburgh Penguins star Mario Lemieux has been admitted to hospital after experiencing an irregular heartbeat.

The Penguins say he had the problem after practice and will spend the night in hospital for observation.

“Mario experienced an irregular heartbeat after practice today, and we thought the best precaution was to have him enter the hospital for observation,” said Penguins general manager Craig Patrick.

The 40-year-old team owner will miss Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild.

His playing status will be day-to-day after that.

I don't think anybody would accept Dagenais for Bertuzzi. I think a guy like Zednik + some other random guy is the minimum they would accept.

I hope Lemieux is alright. I have an irregular heartbeat as well. It gets very scary cause you soemtime have a panic attack while it skips.

Yeah. I know what irregular heartbeat is like. I had a battery of tests done on me, and the doctors didn't identify what it is. They just said that the test they did covered the worst, so I should be fine. I just have to take deep breathes when it happens and it should stop.

Basically, I hope Lemieux has nothing bad. With the Hodgkin thing, his back and everything else, he deserves better than that.

Bertuzzi for Chara... As a Canuck fan I like it, yet dislike it. The Canucks are having more trouble scoring than they should. So giving up a guy that is considered a top scorer is hard. But Chara, I love him. Loved him when I watched him play in the WHL. I hear NHL commentators say he's come a long way since breaking in (true) that they never expected him to be so good. That part I disagree with.

Being a Sudbury boy I would love to see Bert suiting up with the Sens. However, giving up Chara to get him would be an idiotic move on Ottawa's part in my opinion. We already have a quality power-forward in Neil. Why give up one of the premier defenseman in the league to address a non-issue? Especially given the new offensive-minded NHL where having a top quality defenseman is a HUGE asset. If it was Redden that was on the table, I would would say go for it, but definitely not Chara.

The schedule is highly aggravating this year. Not good, but I guess they didnt know if there would even be an nhl season, so the bookers at the arenas had already filled up their calendars with other events.

The Pens can't do much better than picking up Therrien as far as available coaches go. I'm glad to see Michel back in the Bigs. Personally I thought Montréal giving him the boot was unfair.
