I still can't get over this.
I'm going to order the Eddie Guerrero DVD at work this week. But this woman is stupid. Woman: How did his wife feel about this? Chavo: Well...she was devastated. |

Vince dsaid himself:
Chavo is the last Guerrero in WWE now. Please give him a push and get rid of the Kerwin White gimmick. Eddie was by far my favourite wrestler. RIP Eddie. He will never be forgotten. |

Good god. I wake up this morning, feeling good, feeling great. Then I see on here that Eddie has passed away. You can't take away someone who deserves it. You can't take away some rapist or serial killer, you take away one of my favorite and most respected wrestlers of all time.
Farewell, Eddie. I'll always remember how you entertained me each week. ![]() R.I.P. |

My Eulogy to Eddie Guerrero
Posted this in the Eulogy thread, but I'm sure no one would mind if I posted it here as well.
'No, no, not this. This can't be true. This can't be right. No.' It hit me immediately. The full brunt of the meaning, tragedy, and historical significance of this moment hit me like vicious haymaker straight into my gut. That sinking pit in my stomach, that feeling of absolute forlorne despair, focused in the deepest part of my body, that feeling which I had rarely ever felt. That was what anchored me down as I tried to process this information. As silly as it might sound, I hadn't felt this feeling of absolute shock and sadness since the Twin Towers came tumbling down in New York, four years ago. My favorite wrestler in the world, my favorite wrestler ever, was dead. Taken from us in the blink of an eye... or in this case, the sweep of one toothbrush. One moment he was in the prime of his life, full of vigor and vitality. And the next moment, he is looking down upon us all with the same vitality, only one lifetime removed, swept among the ethereal glow of the angels who have greeted him. This is something I will never forget. "Where were you when you found out Eddie Guerrero died?" I was in my USC apartment. Nothing special. But that doesn't lessen the memory, or the pain. How can someone I've never met affect me like so? Some might think this to be silly. "He was only a wrestler." Indeed, it's not like he was the President of the United States, or even a mainstream celebrity. "He competed in something scripted... dare I say, fake." And indeed, professional wrestling is not looked at as a most respectable sport by mainstream society. "You're being silly, getting so worked up for a wrestler." No I'm not. Eddie was not only a great wrestler, he was a great MAN. He was by no means perfect. Certainly, in his youth, his addiction to drugs and alchohol led to the spiral that nearly resulted in his death. He led a life of vice and abuse. He was not an angel for his entire life. And yet, he found redemption. He found resolution. He found... himself. As admirable as a saint may be, a person who has sunken to the lowest depths of immorality and returned to genuinely gain penance and truly change himself for the better may be even more admirable. And that was Eddie. Four years. He had been sober for just a little over four years. And in that four years, he had established a tremendous comeback, going from losing his job and nearly his family to being the greatest champion in the greatest federation of his sport. To fullfilling his lifelong dream. And in four years, he might very well have been on his way to a second tour of duty at the top. Eddie was a true five star wrestler. He could work any match with any man and make it look like a million bucks. He could fly with the luchadores, tackle the grapplers, weave the underdog story against the hosses, work the mic like no other, and entrap you with his charisma. He was an beloved babyface character. He was a despicable heel character. He was a consumate ace in every aspect of wrestling. But even the greatest wrestlers have their demons, and what is most remarkable, above all else, was that he was able to overcome them. That will gain my respect anyday. He recognized his vices. He defeated them. He became a living success story to any person battling addiction. And now his death will become a testimony both to the ravages of addiction and the triumph of overcoming them. After all, in the short four years that he was sober, he was able to accomplish so much. So indellibly much. Though this is personal speculation, the coroner will probably find the result to be heart failure as a result of a combination of past damage from drugs and alcohol and from possible steroid use. And that's a shame, but perhaps we can learn from this, if it indeed is the issue. But this isn't about drugs. Or alcohol. Or any number of bad things he might have done. This is about Eddie. A human being who fell from glory but was able to climb back. He was a precocious boy and a great man, an example of how to conduct oneself both as a wrestler and as a person. I will remember him, not for his vices, but for his victory over his vices. I will remember him for his amazing matches. His priceless promos. His colorful persona. His love and devotion to his family. His quiet, honorable nature. His passion for life. My heart goes out to his wife, Vickie, as well as his three daughters, Shaul, Sherylin, and Katie Marie, and his mother. No parent should have to outlive his or her child. My sympathies to the Guerrero family, and to Eddie's friends. The wrestling world has lost a shining star, a legend, and a great man. Rest in Peace

We lost a great one today. And also one of my favorites.
I still can't believe it, just like everyone can't either like it was some twisted joke. From someone who is latino myself, someone like Eddie was great to have as he had the talent, he had the heart, hell, he had it all and I find that as an inspiration as Latino myself that there is a great talent like him. He went through hell and came back, you know the story, and became the champ. Eddie, was true greatness and as tired as the saying goes, it's the truth: there will be only one Eddie Guerrero. And for all that he has done, I will miss him greatly. My thoughts and prayers go to his family, his friends, to anyone who knew him. Here's my picture tribute...

i just rewatched the eddie/mr. kennedy match from friday.
the last images we have of eddie is that of the crowd giving him a huge "eddie! eddie!" chant while being helped up by the refs along with a quick (but funny) eddie/dave backstage spot. we are left watching eddie's last match that included his classic "chair shot" win. only he could pull that off so easily. i almost wish we could see chavo win that way this week. to do it the way "uncle eddie" would. that would be a great way for him to tribute his "little trooper". the great thing about eddie was that if he came to the ring one night and on the mic claimed he was black and was going to rap battle cena..... we would all eat it up and believe it. he was that good. |

Denial is strongest here because Eddie wasn't just a current wrestler, but an incredibly vibrant man. He was bouncing and energetic in almost all instances, so it's shocking. We expect old people to die. Not to say he should die, but if Flair passed away, people would say it was his time. Same's true with Hogan, and both are still active wrestlers. Not saying we wouldn't mourn them, I'm just saying it's easier to believe.
Eddie was so alive, it's impossible to accept him as anything else. The guy worked his matches like a total professional. His energy is a large part of what endeared him to the fans, even as a heel. Come on, the man cut a promo with no words...Just a Mysterio mask. However, sometimes you could see it in his eyes, a single look, an age and fatigue beyond his years. We know he wrestled with his own personal demons, and that took a toll on him. I can only hope that he's at peace now. |

I'm absouletly shocked. I've always loved Eddie's matches.
Eddie was cetainly one of a kind and has left a hole in the WWE that not many wrestlers can fill. His promos were so emotional, his matches were so entertaining. He certainly had all the characteristics of an amazing wrestler. He worked so hard to get to the position he reached in WWE that at least we can say he accomplished his dreams before he passed away. You will be missed Eddie. |

Yknow, a little over a year ago my dad passed away. Me and him never really had alot of interests in common, but he would try. I remember he would bring me home RAW and Smackdown! mags. But this biggest thing, i remember when the Eddie Guerrero story showed on UPN. He watched it and came up to me the next day and said 'hey, that Eddie Guerrero guy, he went through alot of sh*t man, hes a strong guy.' i laughed and i remember telling him 'so did you dad, alot of smililar things'. And we laughed, and he watched wrestling with me for about 2 months and ALWAYS marked out when Eddie came out with the low rider and stuff. My dad could connect with him, because they both went through drug problems, they were both hispanic, and Eddie carried not just the hispanic heritage with pride, but the CHICANO heritage, the low riders, the slang, the attitude. After my dad passed away in a car accident, anytime i saw Eddie on WWE programing, i smiled because he reminded me so much of my dad and i could just picture my dad smiling and going 'alright, he about to kick someones ass, who is that bald guy? (it was Kurt Angle lol)'. Maybe thats why this loss of a great man has hit me pretty hard. All i know is, now my dad will get to shake his hand up in heaven. RIP Eddie Guerrero, RIP David Alvarado...

A friend of mine was going to meet "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan today, and he heard people talking about Eddie, so he called me for info. And unfortunately this is no joke. I just still couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the headline on WWE.com. I was looking forward to seeing him at Survivor Series, but no longer. What a sad, sad day.
