Do we think this is it for Goldy and Taker in the ring?
Unfortunately, could see both being injured after those landings. |

Probably not although Goldberg is the more likely of the two to not wrestle again for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Taker became the yearly attraction for the Saudi shows since WWE doesn't need to rely on him anymore for Mania.

Taker's face tells the story of a man trying to decide if nearly being killed and nearly killing is the way he wants to end his career or the way he actually has to.
That's the face of fear in a body not built to contain it. |

Besides Corbin's ill advised "heads will roll" phrase, WWE also had a few other tone deaf moments happen during this show mainly from the social media side of the company.
Like their desperate attempt at getting a women's match on this show for disingenuous reasons, this comes off as another incident of them being desperate to deflect criticism away from their Saudi deal while not being sincere with their message. |

I watched up through HHH/Orton which I felt was ok. I don't think I'm gonna even bother watching Taker/Goldberg

In the US.
They were also tweeting stuff in support of the Special Olympics during the day to distract from the backlash of WWE's on-going association with the Saudi government. Meanwhile they completely ignored Sami Zayn's charity that was going on today to help the victims of the Syrian War, which the Saudi government is a key player in and a focal point of Zayn's complaints. |

I'm kind of bothered that Goldberg is getting heat at all from this.
All their concussion bullshit, and they basically did exactly what CM Punk said on the podcast. "hey I am concussed" and the ringside Dr goes "oh, do you want me to do something?" Undertaker has botched being picked up since at least Mania 33 against Roman. He can't jump, push off to help, or even really balance himself. Both the Jackhammer and Goldberg's attempted tombstone spot were botched largely because Undertaker couldn't do his part and just "dead assed" the moves. Taker didn't even fully extend his legs vertically on the jackhammer, which is a basic part of taking a suplex. He didn't even get his legs together when going up, just left them flopping around. The tombstone, Taker did the same thing to Aiden English at Greatest Royal Rumble when doing the tombstone, and Aiden is at least 50 pounds lighter than Goldberg. The fact that Taker is acting pissed like Goldberg fucked the match up is a prick move. The jackhammer ended up being more like a brainbuster, which is still an actual wrestling move. The tombstone where you almost break a guys neck is not a different wrestling move, it is just absurd. |

How did the tombstone go so bad. Taker has done it 10000 times and never hurts anyone, did Goldberg do something wrong? The set up and everything looked normal but for some reason the head hit, why?

He was concussed so probably didn't properly tuck his head, or something, and/or Undertaker dropped him too sloppily

Is it just me or does it look like Taker pinned Goldberg for real to make sure he didn't kick out?

The thing is, I think there's still some gas in Goldberg as a nostalgic act for one off shows. It's not like he has wrestled the past 20 years. His body is prob not as worn down.
But if they want to use him for that, they need to do it against younger guys who can still safely go. Not a guy who's broke the fuck down like Taker. |

It could have been a "reasonable" main event had Goldberg not knocked himself out. Wouldn't surprise me to see them redoing this match at some point.

My ratings
I'm going to start posting my star ratings on the Dave scale for the live PPV's I watch....
PRE SHOW Uso's vs Revival - ** Average WWE tag action, could have been the exact same match and gotten a much higher rating if it mattered but it doesn't. Seth Rollins (c) defeated Baron Corbin - ** 1/2 Completely enjoyable if you aren't just sick to death of Corbin. The action was very good and they told a complete story throughout and into the post match angle with Lesnar. I was hoping this wasn't the end of Lesnar on this show but alas... Finn vs Andrade *** 1/2 Great action, would've gone higher with the rating if it had gone a little longer to add more drama. Solid bout. Shane vs Roman * Trash match, trash booking. Having Shane go over the top guy with a simple Claymore interference was lazy and disappointing. Pushing Shane as the top heel is bullshit. Lars vs Lucha House Party ** Completely enjoyable, and even cool match until the very abrupt and odd DQ ending. It was a bad call but the "make good" worked for me with the post match beat down. Lars looked very athletic here and Gran Metalik and Lince were awesome in their spots. Lucha House Party should be in AEW. Orton vs Triple H *** 3/4 I wouldn't call it a classic, but I would call it the bout of the night. It was fun to recall the classic rivalry that these two had. Sure both men have been guilty as charged when it comes to ring crimes that can induce a nap for any viewer at any time, but as we all know there is a reason Triple H is where and who he is and the same can be said for Orton. I enjoyed the deliberate, cerebral psychology they put together for this match. It technically as solid as anything you'll see in WWE, slow and deliberate that built to a nice crescendo with the played out finisher trade off. Played out as it is, they did it very well and I was glad to see Orton go over. I feel there is still room for him at the top. Braun vs Bobby No rating I feel asleep about 3 minutes into this match. Lashley's anti charisma sucked the energy from me. Kofi vs Dolph No rating I slept through this one too. No big deal, nothing seemed to happen and Brock didn't crash the party and eat Kofi's pancakes so I'll just watch them in a cage at STOMPING GROUNDS 50 Man Battle Royal * Really over crowded and ridiculous for the longest time. Still, battle royals are fun. However just let me say I've seen more Battle Royal's this year than I ever need to. Mansoor's victory pop was worth it, his speech was great. However I see that his story could be similar to Lars, he's made some hateful antisemitic and racist media online. Undertaker vs Goldberg *** Don't freak out, I enjoyed it a lot so I gave it a higher rating that probably anyone else will. I like realism, this was real as hell. Goldberg is so intense, coming out he's already bleeding and probably has a concussion from headbutting the lockers, great. Then entrances were fantastic. The match start was what it should be, this is finisher vs finisher, keeping it real simple. Not sure if Goldberg really hit the post or bladed, who knows. Blood is cool. With the years and years of the absence of blood I'm now a blood mark again just like when I was a kid and WWF had the no blading rules. The Tombstone really should have ended the match but they decided to keep going. But everyone would have said it was fun for what it was if it would have ended here. However we see Goldberg is gassed the fuck out, he can't get Taker up for the Jackhammer and ends up spiking him with a brainbuster. Fucking sick, thank God he's okay, now I can think it's cool. Wow, cool. Okay the tombstone reversal was bad, they should have known better. The finishing chokeslam was bad too but I would have done the same thing. I don't think there was any better call you could have made. I don't do overall show ratings but this wasn't a great show by any means, but somehow I enjoyed it. It reminds me of the WWF Colesium Home Video releases where you'd see the World Tour's and WWF in Paris or Japan. Nothing mattered on those shows either but they did a good job in giving a memorable event. I'm sure the Saudi people walked away feeling like they had a good time. |

Random nugget of joy: Undertaker is the second person in history (well, as far as on-screen kayfabe tells us) to defeat Goldberg clean.
The fact he did it with a weak-looking Chokeslam is hilarious though. |

If WWE were going for realism with that main event, then they nailed it. Because I absolutely believed I was watching two old men way past their prime embarrassing themselves in front of the whole world.

Yeah I wouldn't say it was cool if one of them had been seriously hurt, but they did what they had to do to get to a finish. I'm not going to criticize WWE for not calling an audible and force ending the match. I wasn't complaining about Terry Funk doing moonsaults off ladders and taking straight chairs to the head in the 90's or the 2000's, it's his passion it's his choice. The WWE attitude is that you finish the match, and with two old bulls like Taker and Goldberg... Well I guess thinking back on it... The possibility that Goldberg could've had a heart attack is pretty high. Potentially concussed, likely a history with steroids (not proven to my knowledge), seeing him gassed like that was the worst part for me.
I guess when I say "if he was concussed" I should say... well, what I'd like to know is did he get concussed from the post spot or was it the Tombstone? The blood from the post looked like a blade and he had his hand on his head immediately after he hit, so he could've cut himself. |
