Nobody gave the Godfather a gimmick though except the Extreme Fighting Machine and Papa Shango.

On the subject of the thread:
It just occured to me that that stupid ass rapid zooming of the cameras whenever there is a strike in the ring is nothing more of a continuation of the "...lllllllets get ready to SUCK IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!" thing they used to do. I wish they'd have left that camera trick in the Attitude Era. |

Not as random as him being the "objection" to Teddy Long's wedding.

On Charles Wright...
I recently herd Bischoff say that they were going to sign Wright to a big money deal and he would've been the NWO's head of security, but they ended up getting in touch with Virgil who agreed to a much smaller deal so they went with him. I gotta say that if Charles Wright would have gone to WCW and been an NWO member that he could have possibly had a "bigger run" in a bigger spot. Even though Godfather was on ever WWF show for like 4 years, he could've been great in the NWO. |

I thought Brutus was really cool when I was a kid. It took me like a full year to realize that he couldn't do shit in the ring though. Like, I just kept waiting for it. I'd rented or bought like every wrestling VHS in my county and was left feeling like "he must have some real classics out there somewhere!". I loved how he'd cut the hair of the jobbers after the match. And his tights reminded me of HBK who I was watching real time and was obsessed with.
I think by the time I saw WM9 I was like okay fuck that guy. |

He was horrible in WCW as The Booty Man and The Zodiac, my god. The Disciple had me excited because he looked awesome but yeah, once the bell rang...

Brutus was one of those weird 80's gimmicks that was over even if he didn't win a lot. Back then though it didn't really matter.
In the 80s there were 3 levels of babyfaces. Popular gimmick guys, who didn't really win but against jobbers but could sell merch, like Brutus or Koko. Then there was a few guys who were gimmicks but also really good, who were there to get guys ready for Hogan, like Jake Roberts or Tito Santana. Then there was Hogan. |

Brutus won ALOT more than he lost. He's not in the Koko realm of JTTS.

Brutus main evented PPVs with Hogan. Not to mention ending Perfect’s undefeated streak at WM and being a legit IC title contender. He’s nowhere near comparable to Koko as a jobber.

Beyond those random highlights, he was also a tag champ on a classic team with Greg Valentine, had a cool gimmick with awesome gear. And 87-91 was a hot period for the WWF. For him to be one of the hottest acts means something. To ignore that means you're not as "with it" as you think. |

He ended Mr.Perfect's Win streak. He was an upper mid card guy. He also beat HTM at WM4. He hardly ever lost once he became the Barber.
Just taking a quick glance and he was beating Rick Rude and Ted DiBiase around the loop in 89 Last edited by Bad News Gertner; 04-02-2019 at 06:24 PM. |

He also won in the main event of a SummerSlam with Hogan against Savage and Zeus. I’d call that a big match.
You can say he was just along for the ride with Hogan but teaming with Hogan in a main event in the 80’s isn’t exactly indicative of a jobber. |

By today’s standards when there’s 20 titles that change hands on a weekly basis and everyone gets a turn, never holding a title might mean you’re a jobber. In the 80’s, not so much,

I just went back and checked : between 1987 and 1990 Brutus was only pinned once in any of the Big 4 PPVs (Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Wrestlemania).
It happened at the 87 Survivor Series against HTM in a SS match. Total jobber. |

Chill guys. Where did I ever say he was a jobber? All I said was he deserved to be in the Hall of Fame because in the 80's you could be a huge star without ever winning big feuds or titles, because it was all setup to build heels to feed to Hogan. Hence, the only title he won was a tag title before he became the barber, meaning the dude didn't need to win titles, he was super over regardless.
I put Brutus in the tier below Jake Roberts, I never said anybody not as good as Jake Roberts is a jobber. The only time I even used the word was saying Brutus beat jobbers because he wasn't cutting the hair of most other superstars. I was defending him as a HOFer because he was a known star. And yes, he was bigger than Koko, I'm not saying they are the same, they are just in the same tier for how they were used on the card. That is not saying it was a bad thing. |

Brutus Beefcake main-evented Summerslam, beat Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, and Ted DiBiase. Koko literally never won matches unless it was against a jobber.

It's also ok to admit you misread what I wrote, and I never called the dude a jobber or that he wasn't worthy of the Hall of fame.
