Rate the Game: Week 48
Who's ready for another week? I mean, I could use the break but what can you do? Last week's poll tackled the arcade hit, Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The loveable quartet has quite the opposition. Let's see where they end up. Roll that beautiful leaderboard footage!
So, yeah, after once again having to take into account a Destor voting error, we've got ourselves our updated list. One more error on Destor's behalf and he gets a free sub (DISCLAIMER: Destor will in fact not receive a free sub). Anyways, the Ninja Turtles manage to crack the top ten by claiming, well, the number 10 spot, kicking out at least one Mario game out of the top. We've got more to go in the container. Not much, but technically there's more to go. Let's take a look! I mean, is mixing it up really necessary at this point? Let's pull one of these suckers out.... ...and there we go. Damn thing didn't want to focus right. Well, regardless, this week's game to rate is none other than another Nintendo title, Super Metroid for the SNES! It's Samus in a whole new era as she made the leap to 16-bit here but did she leap into your hearts and keep them warm? Let's do the poll thing and discuss shall we? Only two to go!!! No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ...again. |

Actually replaying this one right now.
At the Ridley fight, but haven't enough missiles to get the job done so have to go back and search for more. Forgot about that. I love the fuck outta this game. I still have a physical SNES and paid $40 for this cart years ago. |

I have never played this outside of maybe 5 minutes on the Switch emulator, but I HAVE played Mega Man 2 and I still give that game a 5.

one of the best games ever made. 5 all day. Would like to vote 9 to counteract some of those bullshit 2 scores I see.

I loved this game, but oddly enough, not quite as much as the original (I liked the updated graphics and new tricks and all, but to be the same place as the original but not even partially the same map seemed weird to me. Years later, Zero Mission gave me the best of both worlds).
Didn't play it nearly as much as Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy II, or as part of a score torunament against my dad in Star Fox, but I really dug it. Solid 4 from me. |

But you go through the old parts of Metroid 1, at least the "key parts", right at the start of the game. Thought that was cool as fook. I also played Metroid II on Gameboy, so seeing the giant Metroid do what it did at the end was PrettyCool. Then, that music started playing and the fucking Hyperbeam shots were so LOUD, making Mother Brain's head bounce all of the fucking place. So fun. |

I can't go all the way on this one but it's still really well put together. For me, the controls took a while to get used to but there's nothing major that would completely ruin your experience. It looks great for a 16-bit title and it really plays into the whole isolation feel. It can be tedious sometimes and I can't call myself a fan of the series so a 4 will have to do.
