All in the Family/Jeffersons Live Remake May 22

Woody Harrelson will play Archie Bunker, with Marisa Tomei as wife Edith in the recreation of All In The Family. Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes take the roles of George and Louise Jefferson in the All in the Family spinoff, The Jeffersons.

Ellie Kemper will play Gloria Stivic, Will Ferrell will appear as Tom Willis and Justina Machado is set to play Florence Johnston, with more casting announcements to come.

An original episode from each original series will be recreated with James Burrows serving as director for both episodes. Lear and Jimmy Kimmel will host the live event, with Brent Miler, Adam McKay, Justin Theroux, and Will Ferrell as executive producers.

“The fact that a group of Oscar winners eagerly agreed to play these iconic characters is testament to the greatness of these shows and their creator, Norman Lear,” Jimmy Kimmel said, calling the project a “dream come true.”

Live In Front Of A Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All In The Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons’ will air Wednesday, May 22, 8-9:30 PM ET.
Cant see how All in the Family goes off without backlash from someone (either its true to original and racist/etc or it gets PC'ed and people who liked the original complain).
The Jeffersons remake only annoys me cause I cannot stand Wanda Sykes.

No idea if they actually intend to continue making them past the special. Id imagine if ratings are good they will.

TONIGHT

read "spoilers" (unofficial) that the two episodes will be Henry's Farwell from AITF (s4e6) and the first episode of the Jeffersons. Henry's Farewell was the first episode George Jefferson appeared on AITF.

lol I was watching AITF this morning and the N word was used a ton but they bleeped it out twice tonight on the Jeffersons episode.

everyone wanting modern remake episode one offs of shows now like this. Cosby Show was especially mentioned but I cant see that working...

Actually both were not bad with the Jeffersons being the better of the two and a surprise recast didn't hurt either
