Yeah, it was the 100th Nitro when he won it. He probably should have got longer than a sneeze, even though Sting was the plan. Hogan had the finished changed at Road Wild (or was it Hog then?) and got the belt back which seemed to kill a lot of whatever appeal was there.

Lex is one of those guys that I hear more and more good about. People going back and watching Nitro seem to love a lot of his work. Maybe modern wrestling has emboldened it somehow? But man, he was over with crowds too. I'd actually go as far as to say he's quite a high profile underrated guy.

I believe some of the nostalgia renaissance regarding Lex Luger arises-from these influences:

1) WWE has been putting-out commemorative video clips about Luger, such-as the highlights of his patriotic "Lex Express" run (while making-sure to overlook the low spots).

2) Luger became a born-again Christian and humbly downplays his prior status as "the Total Package."

3) Luger's involvement in the overdose death of Ms. Elizabeth has more-or-less blown-over. (Unlike the Nancy Argento "fatally tripping in a hotel" incident, which still looms-over Jimmy Snuka.)

With that said, I might post my "ideal scenario" for the 1998 WCW by sometime this evening. (Although I get-back from work in the early afternoon, I might take a nap and do a few other things!)
