No, it cant. WWE goes from making $130 million to $450 million without doing anything different. They will be making so much more then they ever have before.
If WWE decides to increase their spending by an extra $100 million a year, they STILL will make more profit then they ever had before by MANY MANY millions. AEW can put on the best wrestling shows we have ever seen, that still doesn't mean WWE won't be swimming in more money then ever. No matter how shitty a company is, if they are making a profit of $200+ million a year, they aren't going anywhere. |

WWE is losing attendance and sales in merchandise as well as weekly tv viewers. They're not unstoppable nor are they immune to attrition. Clearly. AEW just produced an excellent ppv, got a prime time deal on an excellent network, and is creating buzz for themselves. Of course they're not going to overthrow WWE. But if tonight proved anything, it's that they can deliver a compelling, competitive product with all the production value and shine that the wwe can.

Just finished watching the 1st half of the show I missed earlier.
Battle Royale was very entertaining. Yikes at Janela getting a lit cigarette stapled to his head. Wonder who was meant to be the original final surprise and winner had the Page-PAC match not been canned. Kip vs Sammy match was pretty good overall. at the jab thrown at Vince and WWE's habit to inflate their crowd numbers. SCU vs. Strong Hearts was really great. Based on the little I've seen of her, Kylie Rae does a better Bayley than Bayley herself. Awesome Kong as the surprise addition was great. Women's 4-way match was good. Best Friends vs. Angelico/Evans was great. Had to look up who were the guys who did the post-match beating since I don't remember if I ever saw them before. Overall, its been a pretty entertaining show soo far. Alex Marvez's commentary has been the worst thing about it although not sure if its due to a lack of experience calling wrestling, he's way too nervous, or both. |

Kylie Rae is fucking annoying. Her “Smiley” shtick comes off as less authentic than a WWE character, and she acts more stupid and naive than Bayley, and that’s saying something. She might have talent there, but the act is AWFUL.

He's like a knock off Ranallo I feel. Marvez is easly the worst part of the commentary team, really like Excalibur though.

The Triple H thing was fucking fine, by the way. Weird to see so many people complain about it and blow the rest of the show. AEW have fans because they are “other.” Taking a jab at the empire when you have an analogue like that is fine. |

I can tell Marvez and Excalibur apart via content, but neither impressed me too much. Neither bothered me though, and at least they are human. Marvez should host a post-game podcast or something. He’s got value, but it may not be at the booth.

Battle royal was fun. MJF is a heat machine. The comedy shit has got to go, though.

Though I will say that Hangman throwing MJF out to win was a crazy predictable finish as soon as Hangman came out. Didn’t help that the awkward announcer reminded us MJF was still in the match when we were clearly supposed to forget about him. And the direction was really bad. There were like 3 big spots where the camera inexplicably cut away RIGHT at the moment of impact. It was weird.
From the sounds of it, the rest of the show was stellar. Hopefully the technical kinks get worked out I’ll check out at least the Rhodes match and the main event tomorrow. Not a fan of Hangman Page as a main event guy though. They need to put in some serious work in making him a star in the handful of shows between now and the TNT debut or just give the title to Jericho and start his journey with a strong showing in defeat. |

AEW got a no rights paid deal on a cable channel. WWE got a $1 billion paid rights deal on a network. This is not trying to bash AEW whatsoever, but WWE doesn't just go away because another wrestling company has a great show. The whole narrative is foolish. WWE attendance was down by like $4 million the 1st quarter compared to the first quarter in 2018. They also ran 9 less shows, and has zero international shows in the first quarter of 2019. For perspective, their new tv deal will add an additional $75 million to their quarterly income. Even if WWE attendance went down an additional 75%, from $26 million to $6.5 million, they STILL will make $55.5 million more per quarter once the new TV contracts kick in. Point is they are going to be making so much money that AEW having good shows every few months is almost inconsequential to WWE. It is great for AEW and us wrestling fans, but that is not the debate point. |

WWE PPVs are bland as fuck. Also, those TV deals are not guaranteed to last forever. I’m not sure I would pay WWE rights fees if I could get AEW for production costs (which is a lot of money, mind you). What leverage is WWE going to have next negotiating cycle? That has always been the threat of AEW. If they’re putting out a better quality product for less money, maybe possibly with more people watching it when it does start on TV (seriously, why wouldn’t every wrestling fan at least check this out?), there’s no reason to value WWE programming that highly.

It would still take quite a bit of time for WWE to be in trouble directly because of AEW's success. It's not gonna happen overnight. And one would think that if signs popped up that they were starting to get in trouble they wouldn't just sit there and keep churning out the same product.
Then again, they're holding Luke Harper and Fandango hostage while letting Dean Ambrose go staright to AEW and that seems really fucking dumb on their end, so who knows. |

Nah, it’s not going to be overnight, but once the safety net is gone, I don’t know how anyone can be sure that they won’t fall. They’ve been trying to be good for years. I don’t think they know how anymore, nor do I see a clear route for them earning back/new fans.

Have they been trying though? I don't think they've been as concerned with the quality as much as they have been with pleasing sponsors and investors.

That interest in pleasing sponsors and investors is not going to go away though. And yeah, they have been trying. Look at these attempts at ratings fixes. I mean, quality has not been the concern as much as volume, but you can see that when they do try it's handicapped by their own circumstances.

That's why I don't even get that mad or upset at stuff in WWE anymore. They went full "souless corporation" a long time ago, and the product they've been putting out typically comes with the territory.
"It is what it is" is the attitude I have towards WWE. I subscribe to the network for takeovers, Rumble, and mania, and I just let it run out otherwise. |

Picking up where I left off. The women's four-way is really bad. Every referee seems like they're being billed as the senior official. It was Rick Knox in the first match, now this guy in this match.

Just fnished watching everything else prior to Jericho-Omega.
No wonder WWE is suddenly interested in Gatoh Move, AEW had 2 people from there for their 6-women tag match. Aja Kong busted out a really brutal looking Saito suplex to Riho. at the bell keeper botch. Whole match was amazing and easily match of the night soo far. at the Triple H jabs during Cody's entrance and makes sense as payback for H's AEW diss at WWE's Hall of Fame ceremony. Holy shit at Dustin Rhodes' crimson mask. Not sure what looked more of a crazy mess, Dustin being drenched in blood or Cody being drenched in his bro's blood. Cody vs Dustin was really great overall and arguably Cody's best ever singles match. AEW getting Bret Hart for their championship belt reveal was cool. Also way better job than Foley with the 24/7 belt since Bret didn't botch hyping up the belt nor its reveal. MJF was amazing in this segment. Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks was amazing. Tonight was a fantastic showcase for tag wrestling since that is one thing the Bucks said they want to be a strong point for AEW and help make them feel different than WWE. Between all of that and the main event plus Ambrose/Moxley surprise, Double or Nothing is a very strong contender for show of the year. JR was pretty good and commentary overall was night and day compared to WWE with the lack of constant bickering and actually sounding genuine for enthusiasm. |

Took NXT roughly the same amount of time to build up into the powerhouse its been for WWE. Its aso why NXT UK feels flat by comparisons since they rushed into their first big Takeover show and don't really take advantage of the British style of wrestling. |

Picking up where I left off:
* Was looking forward to seeing Jack Evans and Angelico, but man they looked like dicks coming out. * Lots of fluro in this match. Visually very striking, but they look like they should be on the same side. * Chuck Taylor does everything in autopilot. * I appreciate the effort from Evans. You can tell he's the most special guy in there. Beretta has got something too. * Lol, wtf are with these Ascension looking wankers showing up? * This looks like gay group sex porn gone terribly wrong. * There's literally a dude on the left waving his arms around and putting them on the other guys. JR is asking questions and the crowd is asking questions, but no one gave any answers. That was fucking atrocious. |

Was really looking forward to the joshi tag.
* I'm glad they got Aja Kong, but she's obviously not as nimble as she used to be. Still has presence like a champ. * Hikaru Shida comes off as a star. * Riho is impressive. * Sakazaki plays into her gimmick well. She actually seems like she's supposed to be a bit wormy. * Really awkward stuff with the girls just standing around in the corner waiting for stuff to happen. * Like Ryo more and more as the match goes on. * Bit ridiculous there is a "This is wrestling" chant during this match. * The hardcore spots in this match make no sense. Why can't the referee hear that? * Love Aubrey Edwards sticking to her count and holding that two to get things back on track. Good stuff. One of my favorite reffing moments in a long time. |

So far, SCU vs. Strong Hearts is probably the best match in terms of technical stuff, but the joshi stuff was refreshingly different, if not the best possible outing you could expect from the women. Now onto Cody vs. Dustin:
* Lol, Cody destroying the WWE symbols and what they represent is awesome. Fuck you all. * Like Cody's color scheme. It's bright. Makes him look interesting. * Very interesting to see Dustin playing babyface. Makes sense, truthfully. * Love the crimson mask completing Dustin's look. * Okay, Alex Marvez is horrible. Have him host an AEW podcast or do some sort of panel/hype work. * Jesus Christ! That blood gushing! * I hate the chants, but the crowd giving this a standing O is cool. * Lol, genuine reactions from crowds. Take note, Kevin Dunn. * What an emotional moment between Cody and Dustin. Great stuff. Really got people too. Got me. I think Cody & Dustin vs. The Young Bucks has to be the main event of that Fight for the Fallen show. |
