Going to rewatched the show. Was a bit distracted from the later part of the card.

I'm watching it now. (I know the results). I know Cody isn't like some bonkers out of this world "workrate" guy (though he's prty good), but I'm a HUGE fan of his presentation.

Also, he managed to use some moxy to reinvigorate the NWA championship (along with Billy Corgan's effort). Even if it's only "highly regarded" in the tiny smark community, that's something considering how little it's meant for a long time. Whether that feeling of prestige lasts longer than a month remains to be seen.

But, if Cody focuses on promoting the belt as a big deal (along with Billy Corgan's smarts) then there could be a chance and keeps steadily building it up. Fingers crossed. It helps a lot that the Rhodes name is synonymous with NWA. And now more than ever he carries himself like a Rhodes. If he can keep producing and promoting matches that have big fight feels, who knows what's to come? And if some famous sports analyst with ties to "the old days" of territories gives it some shine it could help even more.

IMO, the key is to not compete with the WWE. Just do your own thing. They'll have their talent raids, but appeal to your niche and it could keep growing if the product speaks to them.

TBH I don't even know what I'm talking about. Whether it's "The Indies", the NWA championship, or Cody as a wrassling icon. I just hope one of those things keeps growing to help wrestling grow even more.

It's never gonna be the WWE championship. but if they can tap into some super nerd wrestling market, it has a chance to have some relevancy. All I'm saying, is that they're on the right path.

You also thought Devon White was traded to the Jays for Kelly Gruber, so your credibility is suspect on pretty much everything.

I disagree, I care about it now. They made it special last night. If Cody and Billy book this run well they could make something really valuable to the indie scene. I don't think I'm alone in thinking that Cody could elevate this title to be a draw on indie shows. Last night was huge, the 70th Anniversary booking is very important. I'm hoping that it's either a rematch with Aldis or a match with Jarrett. Jarrett would be even bigger, they should book a tour where Cody goes around to big indie shows and defeats worthy challengers and starts to build a new history for the 10lbs of Gold.

Also Cody will likely defend in New Japan which will elevate the title further. Fantasy booking for me would be Ospreay in Japan or Australia, Goto or Evil in Japan, I would also love to see him defend in England against Walter, Quebec against PCO, Jarrett in the states, PENTA in Cali, maybe even LA Park in Mexico. He can go around and bounce back and forth between playing chicken shit heel who goes the distance or skims by like Flair, or he can play the underdog baby face who takes a beating the whole match and comes back to with with fire. I'm really excited for the possibilities.

Couldn't watch this for a whole list of reasons, but after initially being dismissive, it has definately peaked my interest. Wrestling world is crying out for an alternative, and it would be amazing if even something small, niche, but well written, could eventually come out of something like this

Can't describe how much I hate current day WWE, but would fully support a viable alternative

Actually think Corgan has done a quiet, but really great job with NWA title so far. It will take years, but I think if people want to believe it has value and it is presented well, it can be somewhat restored

Corgan is the best chance the NWA has. A guy who loves wrestling, has seen HUGE success in the entertainment industry, and understands not to sprint before he can walk (and likely had that hammered home with how he got carnied in TNA). He really can bank roll them if he's smart.

He also appreciates old school wrestling and isn't going to get caught up in the gaga. His championship has gone from the gutter to being defended in front of 10,000 plus people. No matter what the buys are, that is incredible. Plus, now Cody can potentially defend his belt in the Tokyo dome in front of tons more people.

Everyone involved can't ride the coat tails of All In. They have to book these "all in" type events to have their own unique themes. If they can find a way to book two of these a year to start, that'd be amazing.

You're 100% right. The key is to defend it on the right stage with the right presentation to build off this momentum.

They at the very least have the "special" All In moment as equity. People will stop caring about the title but they'll remember the moment. If Cody's next defence is well promoted in the right community and he delivers something good, then who knows? It'll create more buzz.

All I'm saying is I didn't give a shit about the NWA title AT ALL (even for the week I'll care about) up until this match. Like I couldn't have given a shit when Nick Aldis was beating all these jobbers. But in fairness, they did a good enough job making him seem "legit" enough that he seemed like a good foe. And there I was watching it going "CODY WIN THIS ONE FOR DUSTY!!!! ".

Maybe the next time Cody has a good showing, I'll care about the title for two and a half weeks. Then the next time, a whole month. Corgan was consistent enough with slowly building Aldis into someone credible enough to take on Rhodes at this big show, to create a really solid moment. Rhodes has been consistent in cultivating a pretty good character and the All In buzz gave him a lot of good will.

The key is they acted like it was a big fight. So it felt like a big fight.

It was a step above indie-rific for me. I've seen plenty of indie-rific this year. The commentary was hit and miss, but for me Excalibur (the masked commentator and owner of PWG) was solid throughout the show. The guest commentator during the NWA Championship match was horrible though. Ian Riccaboni was okay for me but sometimes seemed unprepared and too tight, not willing to just talk. Felt like he was trying to be Mauro at time, which I guess is a great person to be like but "you know"...

I think that ALL IN if made an annual event could the "Wrestlemania" of indie wrestling. As much as I'd like to see more of it, I love the idea of it being the highlight of the year for the great indie workers and stories that take place.

I feel like they would set themselves up to fail if they try to make a proper promotion out of ALL IN or NWA, I think they need to keep the NWA Title a promotional tool to boost the importance of a show, be it IMPACT, ROH, whatever indie or NJPW show that the champ is booked for. Supporting the indie scene seems to be more viable than actually launching a major promotion that has guys to contacts that will just be stolen by WWE.

Sure but I don't have to. It's not a weekly program. I won't have to really care about it until they announce the rematch at NWA 70th or whatever match they make for that event.

It's not about selling out stadiums, why would you even think that? And to be honest when has WWE ever actually sold out a stadium? They add 10, 20,000 to imaginary figures to each WM and give thousands of tickets away (for some events).

There is a market for 2-3 of these kind of cross promotion Indy shows per year, where they can make good money.

I don't think though there is anyway it becomes more than that. If they try to build for more, they will destroy the novelty and it will crash and burn.

100% this is the way to do it. But I think they could pull off 2 shows a year if done carefully.

Pretty much this. Gertner's opinions are fun, but he has a lifetime pass to the player hater's ball. It's all about how they present it. Just say it's a big deal. Act like it's a big deal. And treat it like a big deal. Then it'll be a big deal.

The 10lbs of Gold YouTube series has been great for the NWA World's Heaveyweight Championship. I'd say Aldis will get his rematch at the 70th Anniversary show in October but I'd like to see Cody hold the title a bit longer than that.

Lol you could build a time machine a bring back Ric Flair vs Dusty Rhodes from 1983 and the NWA Title still won't be a big deal except for the local hillbilly NWA promoters

Now that Cody has the NWA belt, could see it become ROH exclusive for a little while similar to when TNA held ownership of it for a few years.

Would give Cody a better pool of talent to work with and NWA gets better exposure on tv and events.

Lol I wonder if they still take 10% of the wrestlers payoffs as a booking fee. That's why Corino gave back the title essentially. He was making less as NWA Champion

Who exactly? I looked at the ROH roster today and aside from the guys on ALL IN like Daniels, Kaz, Briscoes, Lethal, Flip, Bully Ray, who? The roster page at ROH looks horrible compared to MLW or Impact.

Well that makes sense for Corino, he didn't sell merch. Cody does. I have no idea though if they take a fee or not.

MJF has something there. He's got potential.

Amell and Daniels was kind of rough, but Daniels was the right guy to put the actor with.

I am happy that I didn't want to set Don Callis on fire. Excalibur was probably the best of the commentators.

Tessa is a goddess. And it was amazing to see Magnum and Tully.

Cody and Aldis was solid. I am impressed by what I saw from Aldis. Who's appearance was more random: Daivari or Glacier? It felt like a proper title match, and I liked the finish.

My problem with the Street Fight was thus: A. Janella was an afterthought in the build and the match itself. I was just waiting on it to get over with to do the pay off with the Joey Ryan thing. His valet impressed me more than he did. B. the Joey Ryan thing. That has no business in wrestling. I told my dad that I wanted to nuke that whole thing from orbit. He wasn't impressed with the dick spot, either.

C. Most important problem with the Street Fight was that NOBODY went to the ring wearing knee pads over blue jeans. It's a fucking Chicago Street Fight, you have to get the aesthetics right.

It was my first time seeing Pentagon Jr. in the ring, and holy fuck is that dude amazing. He is a big guy, athletic, has a great look, and a personality.

Scurrl really should have went home when they said, but the match itself was good. I think Scurrl's only real issue is his timing. His facial expressions were great, his offense was solid, and it's hard not to appreciate what he brings to the table.

The 6 man was great for what it was. Shoud have been earlier in the card, though.

Part of the timing thing likely had to do with much of the talent not ever having done proper TV matches.

ROH has the NJPW partnership which really helps them. Could see the Young Bucks being NWA Tag Team Champions if they ever revive them. I think they should just stay all in on themselves and work for everybody.

Agree on the lack of big star names to not have the belt there for the long term like with TNA but for the short term, ROH & NWA can also tap into NJPW and CMLL for potential star matchups due to ROH's association. Even RevPro for the UK connection but no clue who works there. Like the belt stays there for Cody's reign and maybe his successor depending on who the NWA and Corbin decide on.

Impact has the better roster in terms of star power but MLW's is more fluid at the moment since they are dealing with WWE's attempts at raiding them.

I don't think Corgan is going to hitch himself to one promotion but he used Championship Wrestling from Hollywood for most of Aldis's defenses. They'll probably work with ROH for a while because I'd imagine they want in the MSG show. Might start doing more shows themselves if the 70th Anniversary show goes well.

If ROH can lock down Cody for at least another year, could very well see the NWA title be defended at next year's Wrestle Kingdom and the MSG show.

That gives the NWA 2 high profile events as exposure for their brand and then from there, start thinking about future plans for the belt. Also gives Corgan plenty of time to lay all the groundwork needed for his larger plans.
