Mets drop 2 series in a row and appear to be coming back down to earth this week, but they'll still finish April 15-8 at the worst. I'd have signed up for that in a heartbeat before the season started.

Yeah that's ridiculous. Hate All Star Voting in general. Yeah the fans will get the obvious people like Trout, Cabrera, etc. in as they should but every year there are a couple of questionable starters because it's not much more than a popularity contest.

They can say it's the "fan's game" and an exhibition all they want but they still tie up something important in the outcome of the game.

I remember kids would stay up all night to vote for a certain person in these things. Especially if the voting was close. Seems like such a waste of time.

Still can't understand how they let the fans vote for the all stars and have the game count as the ONE factor to see who has home field advantage in the WORLD SERIES.

A-Rod's apparently said he's not gonna argue, but the MLBPA will likely fight for it anyways. As they should really. His contract says he gets $6 million for hitting 660. He hit 660.

Not paying it could lead to a slippery slope of teams looking for loopholes to avoid paying performance provisions.

Don't think the Yanks have a chance if it goes to arbitration. They knew full well what could happen by keeping him for this season. Had well over a year to get rid of him (ex. Marlins rumors) or possibly rework the deal to lessen the HR bonus stigma.

Never understood why, if you really wanted a player, you wouldn't pay a ridiculous yearly amount for a shorter time. Like, here's 5 years $150 million Albert.

Mets have come crashing back down to earth spectacularly. Since their 11 game winning streak they've now lost 7 of 10 and just got blanked 1-0 by the Nats for the second day in a row. Thanks to the streak they're still 6 games over .500 but they don't even come close to resembling the same team.

On the plus side, they have a really weird schedule this week with 2 off days. With Wright apparently due back Saturday that means they'll only have 3 more games without him. They need him back in the lineup in a bad way.

Outside of luxury tax reasons, its almost always the players and/or agents who push for those long contracts. They'd rather have the extra years than extra cash upfront.

Wow. It's the first week of May. I'm not a fan of his (I think he got out foxed by LaRussa when MKE had a great team and should have gone to the series) but this seems like a GM trying to shift blame for a team he assembled that looks all out of sorts.
