A question of taste, your favorite PPV
Just for conversation let's talk about our favorite PPV's in wrestling history. I know a lot of us live in the past watching classic event after classic, be it WWF or further back to the 70's, NWA, Mid-South etc...

Through the years several events have been heralded as the greatest of all time, and that's all subjective. What is your favorite PPV ever? Is there one that you revisit over and over again?

For me it's got to be Spring Stampede 1994 This show is the best, I've probably seen it about 20 times, it's one of those I can always watch no matter what. I used to have the VHS when I was a kid and watched it a lot then too so when I watch it now it's kind of nostalgia to my childhood.

It's always going to be Wrestlemania 14 for me. There are other PPV's that I am going to list on here but this was the PPV where I started watching wrestling every Monday after that PPV.

I had dabbled in watching wrestling before that but not on that level of watching every bit of programming every week.

That show has it all. I may rewatch it soon. It's never been one I've returned to often because I was so upset Michaels lost to Austin lol.

Interesting that you say 11. I've probably seen that more than any Wrestlemania. It was one of the fist WWF VHS tapes I ever had so I watch it many many times as a kid. I always loved the Bret/Diesel match, everything else was just hype to me.]

LOL, I thought you meant 11.... 9 is a lot of fun to watch IMO, I watch it every WM season. I really like The Steiners vs Headshrinkers match plus Hogan with a black eye was something different, plus he wore long tights so that was cool too. I like a lot about this show it's just so hated on because of the bull shit ending. I think otherwise people would have just considered it a decent show. Also, otherwise the main event would've been booked different and that could have led to a better show overall.

Wrestlemania 30 for me. The whole flow of the show, the ups and downs. It was just the classic Roller Coaster ride.

Outside of Wrestlemanias, Survivor Series 98, the tournament, the story throughout the night, the swerve at the end. Just awesome

Survivor Series 98 was a great PPV. Coming off the previous year with Bret, you had no idea what was going to happen. Plus the Survivor Series promo for that year was mint

It did have it all. It was a great PPV for the twists and turns. Taker versus Kane when it was such a good rivalry. Austin versus Michaels was a good match. Sable's debut match

Survivor Series 1990- No idea why WWE gave up on this format. It was fantastic and they should bring it back. It ended up being Hogan, Warrior and Santana ( good guys ) vs Dibiase, Warlord, Paul Roma, Rick Martel and Hercules.

The entire format was fantastic and would be great now but WWE cant do shit right cause they are fucking stupid.

I had my mom rent this for me like 50 times at least

What time does AEW come on tonight?

It's Summerslam 98' for me. That whole build up was incredible. Everything from ACDC's "Highway to hell" theme, Taker and Kane being in cahoots, the Nation vs. DX feud, Shamrock and Owen Hart in Lion's Den, D'Lo with his Chest protector, and NAO vs. Kane/Mankind. Sable was way over as well, and her feud with Mero/Jacqueline captivated interest as well. All in all, it was such a tremendous PPV.

Money in the Bank 2011 jumps out to mind.

-The SmackDown MITB ruled and had a genuine shock result with Bryan winning.
-Mark Henry was in the middle of his great Hall of Pain run and his match against Big Show was far better than it had any right to be.
-Raw MITB was mindless fun.
-Christian and Orton always put on good performances.
-Punk and Cena put on an all-time classic main event.

I'll never forget that Chicago crowd. Those guys were so hot for Punk. I don't think the WWE Universe had seen a crowd reaction like that since the days of Austin/Rock. The crowd was so hot for Cena that Cena didn't even greet the fans and do his regular act/schtick when he came out. He knew he was in enemy territory and the announcers even mentioned it. Unfortunately, the WWE made significant mistakes with CM Punk after that. The next night on RAW, he came out to completely new music which killed the pop that he would have received (not because his new theme wasn't awesome.....it was, but because the fans didn't know that it was him coming out). Secondly, they buried Punk with a loss to Hunter, and then proceeded to take the edge out of his character in the months following. Punk really only got his heat back when he turned heel.

My favorite PPV period is that early stretch in 2001. Royal Rumble, No Way Out and WrestleMania that year all tickled me. I'm not saying they're the best, they're just up there with my favorites.

The tag division was great in 1999. Crash Holly was a great gimmick when he came in with Bob, always tagging himself in then that thing with the weigh-in scales later on.
Edge and Christian, The Acolytes, Hardy Boys, The Holly's, The New Age Outlaws... did The Dudleys turn up in 2000?

Survivor Series 2002, as far as shows that haven't been mentioned yet. You had the long overdue reunion of the Dudleys, the WWE debut of Scott Steiner and Shawn Michaels capturing the World Heavyweight Championship in the first-ever Elimination Chamber match. It was pretty much a great show top to bottom for me. Only thing I didn't care for was Heyman turning on Brock to cost him the WWE Championship to Big Show. Show was dreadful as champion, and Brock obviously has no business ever being a babyface.

97 WWF is tremendous. I've been watching all the 97 Raws in order. Currently at the end of June. It's easily better than 98 or 99 WWF. There's so much going on, but it's not all over the place like 98 or 99.

Hey, to each their own, but funnily enough I absolutely hated the end of 1999. There's just this weird feeling to all those shows for me. Unforgiven '99 still gives me the shivers just thinking about it.
