I agree they Cassidy shouldn’t be beating Cole under any circumstances and that he was way better when he was a side show act. It’s fine if he gets plugged in as the plucky underdog every now and then but he shouldn’t be beating guys they view as main event level talent.

Cassidy it’s ridiculously over and has been since debuting. He absolutely has a spot in the company. He just shouldn’t be hanging with the likes of their world champions. I said this way back when he got a ppv match with Pac. It was way too competitive given that Pac had beaten two future world champs and worked a draw with another. You don’t give a comedy act 15 minutes with Pac. You give him 5 work some shine and a decisive loss.

They’re not going to tell you ‘Oh, they dived in the last match so you can’t do dives before that,’ the control level, it’s all about peer-to-peer. There’s not going to be a middle man, there’s not going to be a man on top that tells you what you can and can’t do.

“I had times where Vince tells me ‘Don’t smile, don’t look at the people, don’t raise your hand, don’t do this.’ Tony Khan is not going to do this, he’s a big wrestling fan and he wants to see good wrestling matches. The styles, you can tell the style is much different.

“If you watch WWE, you can tell it’s kind of the same pattern, same storyline, same people. While in AEW, we’re trying to be way different than that. Our matches are different, we have a lot more Attitude Era-ish, not with the blood and stuff, but just more Attitude Era to it. It’s more adult-oriented.”

Since the inception of AEW, many superstars have jumped the ship from WWE to Tony Khan’s company, with several revealing in their opinions, the key differences between companies and their fans. Paul Wight spoke about being excited about the different environment AEW has, while Bryan Danielson mentioned how accessible Tony Khan can be and how open the company is compared to WWE.

Miro continued to talk about AEW vs. WWE and named what he believes is the biggest difference between the two companies and how they operate. The former TNT Champion mentioned the differences in travel as well and talked about the idea of an offseason with AEW.

“The biggest thing is the freedom,” Miro said. “Also, we don’t travel 300 days in a row, we have one show a week, sometimes two, sometimes three if we have pay per views or whatever. Those are only so often and that’s what I love the most. The opportunity for me to rest my body, being home with my wife, going to work, doing my best and then going home and resting again. I think Tony was talking about off-seasons as well and all of that, he’s just a way different thinker.

“It’s not just the old carny thinking which I think a lot of wrestling promoters are just carny. This old carny vibe, they’re all trying to screw you over while I don’t think Tony is like that. I think Tony is a businessman first, he owns quite a few successful businesses and sports franchises and that’s how he operates for it.”

That would be a nice call back to their history. I was reminded of the Murphy/Mysterio angle by Wrestling With Wregret, it was an awful, never-ending storyline but it did a nice job of putting some focus on Murphy. Then they took him off TV entirely.

WWE has had Austin the whole time. He just hasn't wrestled. Which at this point, isn't something I can imagine being very good. Will be cool to see him walk down the ramp at mania though.

I actually enjoy Buddy Matthew's work, but he's another guy that AEW didn't need to sign. Their roster is bloated enough that if they are going to sign new talent, it needs to be people that stand out. Brody King and Keith Lee were good gets in that regard. Buddy, as much as I like him, is not.

i know for a while there he was gone because his band put out a new album but now that band is broken up so not sure what the deal is. seems to be the AEW style for a lot of mid/undercards guys: show up, do something for a week or 2, then disappear for a month or two.

I thought he was hurt, but that may be the other guy. Booking isn’t really this company’s strength, so it probably just comes down to that.

Buddy Matthews is just spot, spot, spot. Maybe he’s changed radically, but last I saw him was a Rumble pre-show match where KENTA was easily the guy who stood out. I think Matthews would suit New Japan and be a good underneath guy there they could elevate if they become desperate for gaijin because Ospreay and White leave.

In the US scene he best fits ROH and/or Impact, I think.

Big Swole is going to earn her second Tony Khan meltdown badge. In an interview she has pointed out that TK has a lot of power and his public statements about her ring skills were a bit of a mishandling of that power, but she’s also put him in for not bringing up this during her exit interview when she asked.
