Could Jimmy (or Jay) Uso be World Champion?
So I was rewatching Elimination Chamber and I guess I never noticed till Cole pointed out that the Usos have been around for almost 10 years and have always been a team. They're both amazing in the ring, they have some size but still athletic enough to have matches with anyone. Their promo style is unique/ entertaining, and they're good looking guys . God forbid one of them has to retire/ goes down with an injury for an extended period of time.... Could you see either of them as a legit main eventer and potentially a World/ Universal Champion? FEELS LIKE I'M WEARING NOTHING AT ALL NOTHING AT ALL NOTHING AT ALL |

I say no, just because I see no way to separate them then elevate one of them as a singles competitor.
Mic wise, skill wise, and character wise, I think each alone has the talent, but unless one of them has a career ending injury, there is no way to split them that wouldn't be hokey and overshadow any potential growth. They would be stuck with the the hokey baggage and not be able to get past it. |

No for both Usos.
Only way I could see it happen is if either Uso had Kofi-like showcase moments that were really effective at rallying crowds behind the idea of a potential title reign. If they ever split up, IC/US title is more likely their ceiling for singles success. |

I'm not going to assume there is an injury or retirement or whatever. I will posit my thoughts on two healthy and capable individuals. They have the aforementioned baggage, and the baggage is two-fold. One, they're twins. As such, one or both would have to drastically alter themselves for some differentiation. Two, in doing so, it could potentially kill whatever which one is getting the push has going. It isn't to say it can't be done - one turning heel and one saying face - but there is way too much potential to do that poorly with the shitty WWE monkeys-on-typewriters writing. You look at a team like The Briscoes in ROH, and they've been broken up and re-aligned, both had turns as the heel opposing the face brother, and Jay was even built to be the banner-carrier in World Champion for awhile. Over the years, they changed from twinsy confederate tights to variations of street clothes and combat gear, facial hair, and varying hairstyles. Mark's missing teeth aside, it has gotten a lot easier to tell them apart as characters over time in both look and style. You buy them both as singles guys AND as the marquee tag team that they are. Now, look at The Usos. Even with the re-inventions they've undergone, they've both done the same thing constantly. They always talk alike and do the hypeman echo and finish sentence thing. They dress the same way. They move the same way in their matches. There is nothing that makes the one stand out from the other, and that would help in establishing either or both as a singles star while keeping the association as a team. And speaking of, WWE has a track record of not letting tag teams amicably break up. There almost always *has* to be a betrayal gimmick forced in there somewhere. The only time I remember them not doing anything like this is the one brand split draft where they broke up the Dudley Boyz... and they showed them get pissed off about the reveal, then hug, then go their separate ways. |

There's no reason why not..... One would have to Marty Jannetty the other and have a hot, long-term feud beforehand..... I doubt it'll happen, but anyone could be champion if they do it right....

Thinking back, discounting what kind of fuck-up he apparently was behind the scenes (and boy, did that have to be major considering what a prize Michaels was purported to be), the biggest problem onscreen-wise with Marty is that he never evolved. It was interesting when he inevitably came back from his "injury", jumped the guardrail, and started wailing on Shawn in street clothes... then after their feud, he was still neon streamers and doing the same shit. He was still just one half of The Rockers. And he teamed with Al Snow and kept doing it. And he kept doing it in WCW. And he kept doing it everywhere. I wonder if things would have been different if he changed up, too. Ditched the day-glo and the Rockers music and did something that was a fresher coat of paint. Or if Marty went heel there, would everyone be talking about how shit Shawn was and how great HBK Marty Jannetty is? |

They don’t need to fight to split up, lol. One could just ask to be separated in the draft and go to another show. They can put them together with a fresh feel if the separate runs don’t work.

Booker T and Stevie Ray were a tag team for a long time before Booker got a singles/title push. Same goes for the Hardy's, edge and Christian.

Sure they could. By today’s standards, most of the roster COULD be a world champion.

In ARMCHAIR WARFARE I had Jimmy Uso on my roster, and I "rebranded" him as "Jonathan Solofa Fatu", who was an affluent educated Samoan man, and he was mostly managing the giant white man monster Mike Knox.

With two champions of course because it seems like everyone gets a shot. Let’s say there was one champion, do you see an Uso beating Brock Lesnar, not a chance.

Depends on how over they got as singles. They’re apart of “that lineage” that Brock has a long history with.

It CAN be done, like I said the Usos fall in that "middle ground" area as far as size goes in the WWE. They're big enough guys that physically in a fight you could believe they could beat a guy the size of Brock. It goes the other way too that they're still athletic and move well enough that they could be in there with Zayn or Bryan not look "out of place" like someone the size of Brock would (if that makes sense)

And the promos are obviously not the hype yelling we're used to. They're all subdued, but smug and pretentious... Dammit, I actually want to see this on my TV now. |

Point being, if they were that sloppy, lazy, and careless with him, how much focus do you think on doing one or both of the individual Usos right? My money would be on "not much", and WWE has a recent history of not proving otherwise. And I'm being very liberal with the word "recent". |

In response to Lock Jaw's rep request...
:closeup on smug smirk: :gets boos as it slowly zooms out from his face and pans to bring Mike into frame: "Hello *friends*, I am Jonathan Solofa Fatu, accompanied by my associate, Michael Knox, who is currently the [I unilaterally made Mike a champion of somesort for this bit of fantasy; pick one] Champion. "It has come to my- excuse me, our attention, that my brother would like a shot at the championship that my assocate currently has around his waist. Unfortunately, much like the previous number of competitors before, he is not a worthy challenger. "Joshua continues to act like an amalgamation of some common street thug and outlandish caricature of a :actually uses air quotes: "savage" that people of our lineage have been portrayed as for far to many a year. He should be ashamed of himself for making such a mockery of our proud heritage, let alone for the disservice he does to our family in both shame and worry; for he takes too many risks of both health and/or safety for the meager adulation of the WWE universe. Mister Knox here has no such hangups. "I assure you, dear brother, that should you take on the fool's errand of facing Michael Knox at [insert rediculously renamed non big four PPV here], your health and/or safety... will be at far greater risk... than you have ever dreamed of." :chomps pipe as he looks up and away from camera into space, as if pondering the meaning of life: Goes to Leesa Mattress commercial |

Just spent some time reading my old ARMCHAIR WARFARE stuff.... forgot the PREMIUM gimmick I gave Darren Young of thinking that he was John Cena's twin brother, and then later also thinking that Eric Young was another long lost brother.

That would go perfect with the concept of the joke I made about Strowman being another illigitimate son of Kurt Angle, and we have a tag-team feud of The Angle Boyz (Strowman & Jason Jordan dressed like classic tye dye Dudleys) vs The Cena Family of DY and a clean-shaven EY.
