Anthem having to buy a network was pretty much the only way Impact was ever going to improve their tv situation.
Struck out badly with the move to Pursuit and tanked their value to the point other networks were not really interested in a tv deal. |

I was facetious before, but thr knock-on effect will be interesting. Wrestling is more important to the channel now. New Japan also airs there, so it’s important to Anthem that New Japan establishes itself more in North America. But New Japan is all about loyalty and they work with ROH, so...
Is there now a pissing contest to see who can buy it first? AXS could merge it and Impact together, strengthen their rosters and get a pretty cute working relationship with New Japan and CMLL. Vince could use some content for the Network, plus I’m sure Triple H will find places for everyone between EVOLVE and NXT. This strengthens their presence and can push EVOLVE up to be the new developmental. If they don’t dick around CMLL and let Bandido, Rush and Dragon Lee work there, Trips could snag Okada for a Takeover. Take that, AEW. Tony Khan probably wasn’t interested, but while he’s trying to establish a firm footing, he probably doesn’t want New Japan working with Vince or even AXS Wrestling or whatever it is rebranded to. Or maybe nothing changes and TNA just keeps on being shit. |

I doubt Anthem bought a channel just so their shitty wrestling has a home. But they did buy the shitty wrestling in the first place. It was probably at fire sale price though.

Doubt anything changes even with AXS' new ownership.
Anthem made the purchase to fix Impact's tv situation since Impact pretty much ran out of options to do it the normal way. Also Impact already has a working relationship with AAA so that rules out NJPW being interested in a potential partnership. Same for any potential of NJPW ever working with WWE since WWE doesn't do equal partnerships for deals while NJPW treats their partners as equals. |

You’re probably right about nothing changing, but buying a TV network just to get a show on the air seems way too extreme. Why not just put it on AXS? I’m sure Mark Cuban could have sold to many people.
Impact could always change its working relationship. I don’t think the AAA thing is crucial for them. I’m fairly certain Meij would jump at the opportunity to work with Vince, and has even said so himself. If the deal were between NXT and New Japan (I mean creatively), I can see Triple H being that equal partner. He’s worked out footage deals and the Liger thing with them before. And yes, I know Liger is a freelancer, but he’s not just going to work a WWE show without clearing it with New Japan for etiquette’s sake. |

Didn't seem AXS wasn't interested in signing a tv deal for Impact so Anthem solved that problem by purchasing majority ownership of the network. Anthem also makes sense as a new owner since they are a sports network company and AXS meshes well with the stuff they already carry.
Impact's partnership with AAA has been very fruitful for them. Their Mexican shows have done really well and a bunch of their roster was already working for AAA on the side. Plus NJPW still holds some ill feelings towards Impact for the poor treatment of their stars in the past. |

How fruitful is it if they’re still on Pursuit though? I know Brian Cage, Johnny Nitro and Taya work AAA, but couldn’t they just work CMLL or make enough money in the States working for a real promotion? There is still heat over the Russo stuff, but that’s why I think a merger between ROH and TNA would be fascinating. You could essentially start a new company, which both desperately need.

Noid NJPW is very unlikely to work with Impact! in a partnership. I've read in multiple places that there is a lot of heat for the way that they used Okada. Besides, a partnership with Impact! would do nothing for NJPW. Impact! doesn't have anything NJPW doesn't already have and a lot more. Including people to attend their shows.
AXS TV will really be a wrestling channel if they air Impact!, NJPW and WOW. Honestly I would love it if they wanted to go real real heavy and get MLW on the air there so they can get away from beINsports because that channel is not going to be a thing for very long. |

A merger won't work unless Anthem sells the company and Sinclair is notorious for only investing in the bare minimum for ROH and viewing it as nothing more than cheap weekly content. Also doubt the same people who are causing problems for ROH are going to leave which means Impact-ROH is going to end up being doomed anyways. |

The on-air would greatly benefit from an infusion of ROH guys. PCO, The Briscoes, Jay Lethal, Alex Shelley, Mayu Iwatani, Jeff Cobb, Josh Woods, Bandido and Rush would all help out and be fresh additions. I’d definitely prefer to see that happen than having two underwhelming properties. AAA is bigger at the moment, but I think CMLL is more prestigious, at least in terms of its history, isn’t it? Either way, you don’t really *need* a partnership in Mexico anyway. Ideally you’d be able to pay your talent enough that they don’t need to take lucrative outside bookings. |

CMLL has more prestige in terms of history but AAA has been the bigger and more popular of the two for a while I believe. |

combo of I dont think Anthem wants to air and promote other wrestling companies (that they arent directly working with) and NJPW doesnt need AXSTV when they can get interested americans signed up on World. NJPW already shot down working with Impact.
I dont know how long the deal with NJPW is for AXStv though I really like being able to turn on axs on a late night and be able to catch a rerun of njpw from a couple years ago.. |

Good move for them and it looks like Cuban is staying on also. Agree with Noid that they should really consider buying ROH.

According to the Observer, AXS is rumored to be working on potential plans for NJPW and Impact to work together on something in the near future.
If it does happen, NJPW would have to put aside all their ill will towards Impact and go along or else risk the future of their show on the network. |

I keep hearing that AXS is this big channel anyone can get. Comcast subscriber here, and they're one of the biggest on the country. I don't have it. With their rise lately, I'd bet someone would scoop up NJPW in a heartbeat. Not a super major network, mind you. But some channel or TV conglomerate we know about. |

Apparently Anthem's way of celebrating their purchase of AXS and saving Impact from their disaster on Pursuit was to start laying off people at AXS.
Problem is some of the people they fired were very important for AXS' successes and would have been very useful to keep to help improve Impact's image.

Forgot that Konnan has a relationship with TNA. That probably makes it harder to work with New Japan/CMLL and is the biggest obstacle I could see, outside of TNA being TNA.

More bad news for AXS since the Observer reported that the network is dropping its MMA programming due to the cuts being made by Anthem following its purchase of the network.

They have a bunch of MMA programming on The Fight Network. Might bring some of that over to AXS and may be why they've let people go that have things to do with MMA or pro wrestling on the channel.
