Something that been bugging me about Raw (spoiler for you English folk).
Week after week someone goes to be up La Resitance, but when Goldberg did it, it no longer had that "I'm an American and I'm tired of you crapping on my country" feel. Instead La Resistance came out the hype a fued for against the Rock, and never once mentioned USA vs. France. Then Goldberg comes down for no real reason and takes them out, spits of the French flag. It seemed like it went from patorism to out right rasism. Then to make matter worse, JR gets all pissed when Goldberg is suspended saying he was doing the right thing by beating up the French. JR seemed to go into a rant about how Goldberg just save American from the French. For me this angle has just gotten to old.
Hell, American, France and Germany in real life are coming together over the Iraq thing, and France never really did anything to the USA. Why does WWE have to still push this angle? |

Because they feel that people will still cheer for someone showing the French that America is better....considering I don't think either are French (Rene and Sylvan anyway).

It seems like the majority of WWE's fans are really stupid and acually buy into that.
I guess they figure that these guys are heels that are real easy to get over, and in return, when faces badmouth/beat on them, they get really good (if not cheap) pops. |

Has anyone told Vince that there are people in France who actually watch WWE, and who probably are turning their tv's off in droves?

Basically, it's 1 of 2 things.
The more likely scenario: Vince and crew think you, the WWE viewer, are barking redneck morons who probably only watch Fox for your news, believe that the US is never wrong, and hate to have the size of your dick challenged. He therefore puts on programming that will make you bark like dumb Pavlovian puppies in hopes of getting ratings, support, and mad pops/heat. The less likely scenario: This is the paradigm Vince wishes to support. He or his bookers believe France is the enemy and want to help push you in the same direction. Either way, it relies on the belief that you, the WWE viewing public, are too stupid to discern the truth, that France has been a friend and ally. All the French Goevernment did was not support a crusade without any proof. Good friends don't let you drive drunk, they try and stop you from doing stupid things. France was trying to take the keys from Bush after a 6 month bender. They've been polite and curteous the entire time, and the US HATES that. Therefore, the French get slandered over here bigtime. Course, the best they could come up with was naming French Fries "freedom fries..." Cementing that the concept of France is associated with freedom... |

Kane Knight is spot on here.
Personally I would have made it short and sweet - WWE promotes racism. |

I agree. The angle is way stale. It's time for Les Resistance to split up and get new gimmicks. They remind me of the Right To Censor from a few years ago. Decent mid-card heat at first, but almost dead in the end.

What Kane Knight said, basically. The angle's beyond stale, it's rotting a horrible afterlife.
