Oh yeah, and there's this entire section of Linuria I cannot figure out how to get to. It's in the SW corner and its like an elevated plateau or something.


I did go around that area and found the warrior NPC and got the half of the dudes' tree medallion, but that was still "under" everything.


Spoiler free how to, if anyone knows. Or if it very obvious later in the "story" - I'll figure it out.

That's what I've been trying to do. Though I did get some info about a hold in NW plateau from Ranni I think? There's a hold in the "mountains of the giants" or something. So I'll go faffing about there and see what I can smack.


I've made a go at a fort/castle in lower Caelid a few times, but can tell I'm not meant to yet...... or the flame sword wielding giant is just super fucking strong.


Plateau exploration is what's next, when I play again.

Yeah. Had finished the D quest line LONG before that happened.


Think I will re-spec later with a better investment in endurance over so much dex. Initially put dex in for the badass looking Greatsword you get from killing the werewolf or whatever it was. Short term memory is fucked with names in this game man.


More endurance will allow me to use some of the better great shields I have, all while still using my spikey frosty blood-spilling mace. Glorious.


The way your entire garb gets blood coverd after a long session of slaying is a nice touch.

Got into the capital last night. Epic battle with the boss guarding it. Had him poisoned and he died quite literally at the last second after he killed me. One time the animations playing out in full went in my favor! I saw ENEMY FELLED and when I reloaded he was dead and I got the badass looking dragonclaw shield. Hollllllly shiiiiit is the city beautiful. This game is a real work of art man.


Found the poison grounds / castle too and Volcano Manor, which gave me Resident Evil 8 vibes when I first entered. Got to the red letter quest but can't get to the area yet, I don't think. Mountain of Giants in the North East I thnk? I dunno, I didn't have a lot of time to explore.

So I was messing around trying to progress the Ranni storyline again and I think it's broken somehow....


I looked up a step-by-step guide and this is the part where it breaks.

I have the letter of introduction. I have that site of grace and have beaten the ruins many times over. She is not present. I guess the only other thing I haven't tried and thought while writing this post is to "pass time" and try a certain time of day.


I have found her body at the poisonous ruins or whatever. Can't interact with her there at all either.

Apparently I must have accidentally killed her at some point, probably accidentally hitting her the first time I found her at Witchbane.

Just let myself get slayed. Made it to Mohgywn grounds. Went into the masoleum - oopsie.


Ran around the place for a while and got wrecked by an NPC invader. Made it to a site of grace that has a buncha those weird looking goomba-like guys. Some of them are red, and I learned quickly they have blood magic which wrecked me.


However, they give a FUCKTON of runes per kill too. I think one run of this very small strip of land netted close to 50k runes, and it is very fast. Think I went up 20 levels. Started using the Bloodfang Blade, and that skill is sick. No question I'd like to spec dex now, much more fast and fluid, and "sidestep" makes things real fun.


Still gotta go ask for forgiveness at that church, so I can get the sorceress to talk to me, but I got caught up leveling so quick I just.... didn't bother

That is the most famous farming spot in the game. I use a sword that unleashes a wode wave of energy. Has enough range to get all of them in 2 shots. On new game plus, I can get over a million runes in 5 minutes.

Fought both Godfrey and Morgott and ended up beating them after, I don't even remember how many tries. The trip to Godfrey was long and I didn't have a site of grace anywhere near him and didnt wanna make the trek through the maze that is the capitol city.


Getting a weird vibe from the NPC (Miranda?) who helps you level at the beginning of the game. She has all this power and shit, lets you summon her for the Morgott fight and now wants to set the Erdtree on fire???


Must be a weird event about to take place too, as a LOT of NPC's are "asleep" and I cannot talk to them, including anyone at Ranni's Rise.


When I next play, I will be making my way to the Mountains of Giants, which sounds hellish and amazing.

No, he wasn't there. I went back to Sofria to extract revenge and explore and found Blaaid there instead.


I can see Nokron, and I can see an NPC standing far off in a stance that looks like "COME AT ME" but also looks kinda like Miranda? I dunno.


I love that I've been in this game for 60-70 hours and there's still so much unseen shit and places I have yet to even reach or get maps for.


Went back to my mace. I cause bleed damage in 2 shots now. Having endurance leveled has made a massive difference. I can face tank some shots but also effectively block much better.


Stomp has become a fun skill. When a heavy winds up, if I am using my mace with 2H, I'll counter with the heavy mod of it and smack the bejeebus outta them. Usually stance breaks them and then I go for the crit kill.

Yeah, Sellen alluded to that after I was forgiven for slaying her by accident. So I took a guess that it was the castle in South Caelid and headed there.


That's when I realized the world is being weird..... catapults weren't firing as I crossed the bridge and there were no enemies there at all, including the Flame Giant who has thumped me quite a few times. So I thought maybe Ranni had something to say, fast traveled there and she is sitting there, but sleeping.


Seemingly the world in some places has gone quiet in some areas. Assuming I need to take Miranda to the red spot she marked on the map before the world "progresses" back to where I can do other stuff. Kinda like when you are supposed to rest at a site of grace to advance stuff, sometimes.

Once you advance ranni's questline to that point, the festival at redmahne castle that alexander alluded to begins and all the enemies disappear. They'll come back later after you beat radahn, but for now you can join the gathering thats within the castle before the big fight.

Radahn is one of the coolest boss fights in any souls game. Or any game in general.

Except last night, I was unable to get into the castle. The gates would not open.


I checked the teleporter which has been inactive the whole time, but it was off as well. Maybe just a bug, I'm saved at the Impassible Bridge site, so I should find out pretty quick.

Front gate doesnt open. Go around the right side. Theres a ladder you can climb in the back that gets you in.

Teleporter near the site of grace worked. I fought him at level 91.


Amazing fight, very fucking cool how you summon the champions and then the halfway mark when he jumped into space. Man.... awesome fight.

Well.... didn't thump him - there were many close calls. I did get him on my first go though, mainly because the champions kept him busy.

Nokron.....




Getting my face smashed in there Mountaintops of Giants has a LOT of enemies, albeit somewhat weak. Their god damn bleed damage from 3 mobs at once.... if I get stance broken I'm fooked.


Level 94 now. The mimic tear fight was fucking amazing. I kicked my own ass once before I ..... kicked my own ass again? It was very cool to see a mimic use all the skills and shit I had equipped. Sent me through the air a few times and even fought similar to how I do.


This game continues to be impressive. If they are planning DLC...... I just cannot even imagine.

Haven't managed to get past the first two Lionguards. Gotta find a way to up my cold res man. He spews that frost breath and if he manages to hit me, I'm stun locked die.


Maybe need to level up some longer ranged weapons, I dunno.


Also at the last boss (I think) in Nokron. The two god damn gargoyles. Nearly had them on one attempt, but just get smashed every other time I'm in there.




Not enough FP to use most incantations, etc...... but I should re-spec so I can use more stuff. Am I doing hard mode by not putting ANYTHING into faith, int, whatever?

Yeah, magic/incantation builds can be a lot easier in most fights, but it isn't as satisfying as walking up to a giant monster and slapping it in the dick with a sword thats bigger than your character.

I cheesed the lions. They wont come out of the door, so I hit my big ash of war attack through it until one of them was dead, and then fought the other normally.

Have you gone back to Redmane castle and the boss duo thats in the area right before the festival gathering? You get a great colossal sword that has skill perfect for cheesing those lions through the door.

I have not gone back to Redmane. Been meaning to, since I used the teleporter to go in there and not really explore. I was trying to use my weekend time to "progress".



Got knocked around by the Lions, went back to Nokron. I missed the fooking Mimic Tear because I didn't decided to jump to a roof earlier in the game. Have it now, and weeeeeeeeeee!


Then went to fight the God Devouring Snake and struggle with the last lil bit with the god damn flaming/exploding skulls. Outside of that, this boss is a pussy. Loved the whole feel of this manor though, feels a LOT like Castle Demetreaux in RE8. Have received a LOT of good gear too.


I think my basic ass BONK build has hit it's ceiling. Problem is, I need to go farm some lower level smithing stones to bring other weapons up to snuff before progressing further. To do that, I need to go farm and right now I dunno if that's even a thing. I know there are caves with lots of them, but I'm fairly certain I've hit all (or nearly all) of them around Limgrave and Weeping whatever. I have a TON of smithing and somber smithing at level 3 and up, its the 1s and 2s that suck.


Feel like I'm getting close, and loving it. I know Castle Sol is where I need to go for the campaign. Need to get to work on other shit before I try it again.

You need to get the ball bearings so you can just buy them from the twin maidens. The ones in the world are finite.

You don't actually have to go to castle Sol, but if you want to access the areas west of the mountaintops you'll need the item past the boss.

The special weapons that use somber stones can only be leveled up to level 10. Regular weapons can be leveled to 25 with normal smithing stones.

To hit max level you need an ancient dragon smithing stone or ancient dragon somber smithing. There are no ball bearings to allow you to purchase them, so whats in the world is all there is. Think theres around 8 or 9 in total. So be sure about what weapon you want to max.

And there are different ball bearings that will allow you to buy regular smithing stones or somber ones. You can get bearings that will allow you to buy as many as any of them or the different gloveworts as you want. The only exception are the varieties of the ancient dragon smithing stones needed to max a weapon, both types of those are finite.
