Mankind Should Have Won the "I Quit" match against The Rock
That has always been one of the, if not the, most emotional and brutal matches I have ever seen, but the finish was dumb and I hated it.
Look at that bullshit. Mankind should have won. He was so popular at that point and should have been pushed as strongly as Austin and Rock at that point. Feel like he should have been more self-serving during that time. Thoughts? It's time to make TPWW MEAT again! Quote:

Rocky wanted to suck Mankinds cock, but Mankind would not let him. So he handcuffed him and was still very scared about Mankind biting him so he hit him with a chair on the head eleven times. But Mankind refused to give that cock up. That's all Rocky wanted. He just wanted that sweaty cock in one of his face holes. Fuck Mankind for not letting him do that. Rocky did what he had to do to get that sweaty hairy cock in his mouth.

Mankind could not have kept up that clip through the same amount of PPV main events that The Rock/Austin/Triple H (to a lesser extent) did without his lack of actual wrestling ability being exposed. He would have had to have taken 22 head shots a show and would have died in the ring. I think it all worked out the best for everyone.

I feel like Foley's character was made to be the nearly man too. That's part of why he was so popular. He tried and failed. He was never going to beat the supremely athletic top guys of the day in the long run
But he was the every man the crowd could get behind, putting it all on the line for the cause. |

Mankind is one of those guys who is better chasing the title than holding the title.

I half agree. That was the fun part. However, he was too much of a badass not to have a medium length run with the belt.

At the time of course the outcome was upsetting but now I wouldn’t change a thing. All road led to Austin/Rock at WM. What I would have done is put Mankind over Big Show clean, perhaps have given them the Hell in a Cell instead of Bossman/Taker. Big Show was a huge deal but they weren’t going to put anyone from WCW over big that early in a run.
That would’ve given Mankind a good reason to chase the title after Austin lost it to Taker during the summer. Then you could’ve had Triple H vs Mankind one on one for the title at Summerslam, leading to Triple H vs Rock vs Austin at WM 16, would have been a classic. |

Remember watching Beyond The Mat and his kids being traumatised by the match and Mick all cut up after covered in blood giving his daughter a cuddle trying to show her that the guy who had just beaten the shit out of him was still his friend.

Yeah that was fucked up that he had his kids there. He regretted that deeply.

I think that will go down as the most brutal spot in WWE history, those 11 unprotected chair shots. Insane.

Yeah I don't really count that stuff either. I mean CZW has done some insane stuff that made no sense but truly nothing will compare to a 6'5 250lb man slamming a hard steel chair in the skull of Mic Foley nearly a dozen times consecutively. It was fucking disgust.

They had such a good run. The main event at Rock Bottom, then Foley title win on the taped Raw, Halftime Heat empty arena, Royal Rumble I Quit and finally Last Man Standing at No Way Out. Insane feud that was capped off by the formation of Rock 'n Sock. Foley was an amazing character.

He truly was. I still love him, which is hard not to do. At one point I would just read random passages of his first book like other people read the Bible.

I dunno, I think the right guy won. Plus Mankind didn't even say "I quit" because it was a recording.

Foley was always the guy who was the "guy who got the new Main Eventers ready." He was Austin's first feud after winning the title, he was HHH's and The Rock's.

And I'm okay with it ending the way it eventually did with Rock, but in this match he should have overcome. Austin should have come out with bolt cutters and freed Mankind while both men were down. Then when Rock recovered he'd get a surprise Mandible Claw. Obviously he can't say anything, so either he frees himself from the move or Foley gives it up and pulls out the barbwire bat and gears up to bash in Rocky's skull. Rock cowardly quits and loses the match, only to Rock Bottom the celebrating Mankind right in front of his family then leave with the belt.

Would you still have Rock vs Austin then since that's what this was building up to?

Absolutely. Instead of a draw during the Last Man Standing Match Rock would win clean.

Although I would have had Mankind beat Triple H in all of their matches and retire at Wrestlemania against Undertaker.

Austin won the Rumble making it Mankind vs Austin for the title. If you want to keep Rock vs Austin for the title, Mankind would have had to lose it next month anyways.

Going to say no but one of his title reigns should have been longer.
His first and most influential one barely lasted a month, his second one was part of the swapping around with The Rock for several months, and his final one was just a quick bridge from Austin to Triple H as WWE champion. |

Okay... So we had The Rock NOV 15, 1998 - JAN 4, 1999 50 days Mankind then won his first title from The Rock on Jan 4th. Mankind JAN 4, 1999 - JAN 24, 1999 20 days Rock won it back for 7 days followed by Mankind for 15 days. My proposal would have been for a single 42 day reign plus his last reign. Let the guy win 6 or so title defenses before having Rock get the title back. I'm perfectly fine with his "second reign" lasting one day. However, if I would go any further I'd never feud Triple H and Vince and I'd never have Vince win the title and Big Show would not have been champ ever. There's so much that was great and done perfectly, but I contend that Mankind having two short reigns sucked, especially for die-hard Foley fans. |

So when would the Rock get the title back before Wrestlemania and would you build Mankind vs Austin for Wrestlemania, knowing that it won't be your main event?

Rock still wins on Feb 15th as he did in real life. He just doesn't win on Jan 24th. I just want Mankind to go from Jan 4 to Feb 15 with a few title defenses (5-6) before ultimately dropping the title back to The Rock.
