If there's one thing I can't stand, it's eliteism. The idea that someone can't have a justifiable or meaningful opinion because they have never "been there" is what's asinine.

I've been wrestling now for 11 years, and have cut plenty of in-ring promos. Am I entitled to an opinion, Mr. Reigns?

To be fair, the IWC is full of this though. Most of the time, its pretty accurate.

Not really. To iwc fans' credit, plenty have been fans for ages and know what they like, and can recognize what's good and what isn't. Being a rather mediocre talent doesn't give Reigns anymore insight or weighted opinion than Rammsteinmad, who's been doing it for a decade.

When WWE says they have a million Network subscribers, do you think they mean now, or that millionth person has signed up (whilst 1000s of others have unsubscribed)?

It means that 1,000,000 people have active subscriptions to it. Even if 10,000 cancelled after the Rumble, they still have an active sub until they expire.

But Reigns wasn't necessarily referring to what people like/don't like. An opinion about what you like is different, but what I got from it was, people having to understand how difficult it is, as well as a fundamental aspect. Like when people say "well he's not technically sound." "he doesn't know how to pace a match" how the hell do you know what goes into it if you have no experience?

I do see your point as well.

I can tell you with the utmost confidence I do not know the inner workings of how to pace a match. But I can point out when a guy doesn't have the ability to pace or call a match.

Orton using countless rest holds to draw out his match length wasn't fooling anyone. You nor I need insider perspective or experience to point it out.

Aparently Justin Gabriel one upped CM Punk

Quote:
Regarding Justin Gabriel quitting WWE, word is that he decided at the final RAW before the Royal Rumble that he was leaving. Gabriel showed up for RAW that day like usual and once again officials had nothing for him. Gabriel decided he was going to leave the arena in the middle of the day and he did, with one person saying he went sight-seeing and another person saying he went sky-diving.

Gabriel returned to the arena a few hours later and there was still nothing for him to do that night. Gabriel decided right there that he didn't want to be in WWE any more. Gabriel then booked his flight home and in between connecting flights, received a phone call from WWE Talent Relations head Mark Carrano. Carrano told Gabriel that they had booked a RAW segment for him but couldn't find him anywhere in the arena. Gabriel reportedly told Carrano that he left the building and was quitting the company.

I think there are a lot of muties in the IWC who fit Reigns' complaints, but at the same time there are plenty of people who have been watching for a long time. You don't watch wrestling for 10+ years and not figure out how it works at all.

I mean I'm not trying to downplay what goes into becoming a good performer, but at the same time, it's not quantum physics. If you're intelligent and watch enough matches, you can at the very least pinpoint who is good and who isn't.

you defeated your first point about claiming to know "when a guy doesn't have the ability to pace or call a match" with your Randy Orton comment. Claming Orton uses rest holds to "draw out his match length" is an A+ 'internet wrestling fan'/mutie comment.

Your an idiot. You know as much about wrestling in the Wwe as i do about rocket science, you have no clue as to what instructions these wrestlers are given before they go out and perform nor the skills/ wrestling ability these men possess. It's like listening to some loud mouthed idiot talking about his football Dnd bragging he could coach a team to the superbowl because he thinks he knows more about the game then the people actually involved.

They shouldn't even be called rest holds. It's a pace-changing hold. It's about going from one part of the match to the next part. It's sort of like an act break but it's not done because either are gassed. It's not about rest it's about pace, tone and psychology. Vince Russo thinks they are a bad thing so they must be pretty great.

You'll see in the first sentence I say I know nothing of the inner workings of wwe nor would anyone else here. That doesn't mean I don't recognize good matches when I see one or can recognize shortcomings of talent, regardless of instruction.

If you think nobody's opinion counts, then what are you doing here? Vince McMahon, Steve Austin, and Hogan's opinions are the only ones that matter then right? That's called elitism. Just because they've done it doesn't mean their opinion or views carry any more validity. If that's the case, damn near every road agent or coach should hang up. Most of them were not mega stars in wwe so what could they possibly offer to talent trying to make it to that point?

And where did I say I could do better than the guys in wwe? Nobody is questioning what they do. My gripe is thinking that because he's a wrestler and most of us are not, there's no way we could ever understand or know what they're talking about. He is wrong on that front.

I'm not a filmmaker. Yeah, I have a degree in Broadcast & Cinematic Arts so I have a little bit of extra background, but I've never worked in the industry.

But I can tell you which movies are good and which ones aren't, because I've been watching them my whole life.

Same way I can tell which ballplayers are good and which ones aren't.

Or which video games are fun and which ones aren't.

You consume enough of something, you pick up on things like that. Just because I don't have an Oscar, an MVP, or a job with Valve doesn't mean my opinion on these things is irrelevant because I've "never been there."

Exactly. Maybe I've used some asinine examples early on. But we all know how to differentiate good from bad, experienced from green, etc, and quite a few if not the majority of us have wrestled or ever will step in the ring.

Sin Cara's been wrestling in singles as of late on Raw & Smackdown. And he and Kalisto recently dropped the NXT Tag Team Titles.

It's because creative has been toying with a different gimmick for Kalisto. With the impending loss of Rey Mysterio, and the bust of Sin Cara, WWE is looking for a new masked star to take over, which would have been Kalisto, obviously.

But recently NXT officials tried Kalisto out with a new, unmasked gimmick: a gay hair stylist.

He blew away officials, no pun intended, with his portrayal, to the point that he is seriously being considered doing that gimmick instead of continuing with the Kalisto gimmick.
Source is from Reddit's MetsFan4Ever who has been very hit or miss recently.

Other sheet news include Vince Russo's interview with Challenge TV confirming what others have said about Dixie being the biggest source of TNA's problems and David Otunga is now part of RAWs pre-show host lineup (may or may not end up replacing Riley's spot).

So, for the first time since 2006 I actually didn't watch RAW this week and opted to go to the movies instead. Out of curiosity, did I miss anything big? No spoilers if you'd please, but I would like to know if it was actually worth digging for online.
