In a promo directed at Ultimo Dragon before a Television title match:
WRIGHT (not verbatim): "They call you Dragon because I'm gonna be draggin' you all over the ring!" *** That is fucking brilliant. I defy any of you to argue with that. |

He was awesome, the perfect guy for an undercard. Can generate heat, and doesn't need to be pushed to do it.

Berlyn sucked hard, though. Still, Alex Wright is one of my all time favorites.

We should close the thread after that quote. It can't be topped.
It's the pinnacle of the Dus Wonder kid's career. |

He was awesome back in the day. I didn't really get behind the Berlyn character, and after that when he formed Boogie Nights it seemed that WCW had just kinda given up with him.
It's shocking to see Triple H jobbing to an 18-year-old lol. Also, does anyone know if he ever had any matches with Dean Malenko? Those two could have had some amazing matches. |

If Berlyn was a Vince McMahon creation, he would have been one of the biggest stars in the business. WCW ruined it on the first night though. I liked him though.

What was the Berlyn character all about? I remember seeing a tape of WCW, and it was actually my introduction to Alex Wright. He walked out to the ring all serious, and I guess he was meant to be an angry German, or something. I think he may have been accompanied by The Wall.
Wikipedia tells me that he was sort of a Rivethead-character, that caused some controversy because of the Columbine shootings? Is that accurate? |

The WWE should pay Alex Wright $8,000,000 to come out of retirement, dance and be awesome.

Who wants to start the Alex Wright Fan Club? Because I will be its charter member!
I love that dance. I remember WCW fondly... those days were its best, when the undercard, midcard, and main event were all used equally and everybody had a chance. And that Wright/Disco/Tokyo video is Fucking Priceless! I didn't even laugh... I just watched in admiration and amazement. |

FACT: They got rid of the time limit rule in wrestling matches because it would give Alex Wright infinite time for dancing.

FACT: Alex Wright actually won the WWE Championship one million times, but his dancing was so great that the achievement is often overlooked and forgotten completely.

Wait. He was 18 in 1994. He's only 32 now. He could still be considered "in his prime" if he were still active.
