I don't see the "jokes" in V as overly excessive but more as a par for the course tone when it comes to GTA games. Sorry.

It is well known what the GTA universe is comprised of. Saints Row The Third is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse.

Same for Family Guy. "Typical FG humor" is always offensive to someone, somewhere.

I'm not in a rage or in tears about it and I don't want to fight with anyone about it. I just want to draw attention to it. This person documented a few things but seems a little angrier about it.

Like the others say, this is the world of GTA. And I never them giving special attention to trans-people. More than likely you just notice it more because of your perspective.

The big punchline of GTA, is it is the ultimate satire of America itself. We're the joke. Because no matter how over the top, melodramatic, or violent; it is also poetically and eerily accurate.

So no I don't think it's going out of its way to offense any one group.

I've had that discussion with a specialist I see. (TV etc leaves out the years or psychological analysis required before you can transition.)
I brought up a few bad news stories I had read and he mentioned that being in a certain group means you'll see more of it, meaning you'll see more of the bad stuff. So, you're probably right about me noticing more because it's directly effecting me.

I still think they dragged it on (no pun intended) a little too much. I wouldn't expect them not to take a jab at transpeople because I do actually believe in the idea of "if we can joke about those people, we can joke about these people." with comedy but there are multiple jabs and some are a little too hard. I'm not as sensitive as many transpeople are. I can't recall or imagine another group they jabbed so often in a single game.

I'm genuinely thinking back. The only groups they really go for are fashion groups like punk or preppy. Otherwise it's just society in general.

Like I said, I don't think I should be exempt from GTAs usual jabs. I don't think there is anything wrong with a villain being trans. When pretty much every trans character, not just in games but in all media, is a joke, fetish object or villain, that's when there is a problem.

All we need are more trans characters that are actual characters (they don't have to be superheros) and not just a punchline or a bad guy to defeat. As much as I Poison, she is just a walking fetish object. Why not have another trans character that's a bit more dignified. Say, from Scotland .

So write something with a unique use of a trans-character. Or perhaps somebody already did. Seek them out. Spread the word.

I just had this very kind of discussion with one Lara Emily over at gawker concerning women in games.

The closest I've found is a kids cartoon called Shezow.



It's about a boy who is a superhero because he found a magic ring. He isn't trans, he reluctantly has to be Shezow, the girl.
I've never watched it but, from what I hear, it's basically "lol crossdressing" jokes and puns. She-mazing, she-splosion etc.

I consider my GTA online character to be trans so that'll do for now.

I saw a screenshot of a male GTA character wearing a tshirt from the hipster update. I think you got the better tshirts...

Still can't figure out why they have the 50's housewife dresses for the girls.

I don't really care for any outfit outside of what I actually wear. What you seen me in is literally how I dress. Black on black long-sleeves. I can't even begin to compare clothing options between the genders. Doesn't even register.

From my reading of these examples I'd say they were mocking the people who hold this antiquated views on the matter rather than the transgender community.

Family Guy is actually very progressive (as Seth is himself) and under no circumstance except for your own feelings do they actually have issues with minorities of any sort.

I buy every item of clothing available so I can mix and match later on. I have the LE discount.

You've seen my GTA character, my avatar and my Mii. They're all similar to each other because I tried to get them to look as close to me as I could. The Mii face being the result of that Mii photo thing, I just added the freckles which the camera didn't pick up.
Clothing is all just what I like at the time. Though I have dressed my GTA self as I was dressed at that same time before.

They really need to add a preview option for property. I have the most expensive flat in the game, which turned out to be blandly decorated and just dull. A month or two ago, I was invited to someone elses flat in the same towerblock and it was such an improvement on my own place. Everything about it was better and now I want it.

If we had a slideshow gallery of the rooms or the option to actually visit the available flats, we could see if it's worth the money. $500,000 for my ingame flat vs approx $400,000 for a cooler one. Seems obvious which one wins.

Unless there is some benefit to the most expensive flat that I'm unaware off. Like a hidden game room with pool and darts.

I seem to get warned for killing anyone. I wasn't on a spree. I had killed one NPC and one cop, 30+ minutes apart.

I'm curious about armoured trucks online. I've known the amount of money to fluctuate a lot. Sometime it $6000 or so but sometimes it's $10,000. It's at the lower end in solo sessions and when in public sessions but far from the action.
I'm wondering if the vicinity of other players has an effect and/or if crews has an effect. Will a random player being nearby increase the payoff? What if two members of the same crew attack it?

Something worth experimenting with.

Yeah. I think swiftness definitely counts. I botched it pretty badly last night. Didn't open the truck doors until after the cops had become aware of what I was doing and the truck only dropped something between $4000 and $5000.
