lol yea. You have to look at all the stats and all the situations for these single season awards. Maybe for all-time, it's ok, but not for single season.

There is a difference between a personal attack and an opionion.

In this case, it's an opinion. Every MLB player is being asked it, heck they asked Eck and Rice about it yesterday and Rice kinda poltely doged it, Eck took it. What, you mean the pitchers with the most wins isn't the best?

(yes, I'm agreeing with you).

A pitcher can throw 1 hit, 1 run games and if his team can't hit the ball he gets a loss. W/L isn't a good judge of who a good SP is.

ERA, K's, K/W ratio, ERA, Bavg-against... those are pitching stats.

Let's look at some pitching stats that mean something, shall we?

Strikeouts
MB: 115
JS: 189

WHIP
MB: 1.16
JS: 1.01

Batting average allowed
MB: .259
JS: .220

OPS allowed
MB: .650
JS: .612

Strikeout-to-walk ratio
MB: 3.71
JS: 5.73

Since I know you will bring up ERA, 2.99 and 3.22 is not that much of a difference, especially with 8 starts remaining for both of them.

Hero, you're way over reacting.

You'd think this guy (schilling) did something to you personally.

He gave his opinion on a subject, a subject a lot of people are being asked about. Yeah, maybe calling him a "scumbag" was too far, maybe it wasn't, if that's how he feels, why not? You act like the issues with Palmerio is borderline or something. It's a cut and dry case, the guy lied to his fans, his teammates, the league and lied under oath to the US Congress. Maybe that doesn't make him a scumbag in your book, maybe his records should stand and he earned his place in cooperstown and you'll be there to cheer on his speach if he gets in, but that doesn't mean Schilling should catch aids, that's a really stupid thing to say in all honesty.

Let's review, you're wising a deadly disease on a person for giving his opinion of a person who lied, cheated and broke the law... sounds like you have your morals a little backwards on this one.

Nope, if this had all happened to schill (tesitify then get caught with roids in his system, roids that can ONLY be injected) I'd would throw away anything I own that said WS series champs.

Thats not what I am talking about. I am talking about you guys defending Schillings comments. I'm just saying that if it were say Randy Johnson making the same comments you wouldn't have such a strong opinion. Me personally, I'm not a huge fan of Schilling, but I don't really care what he said, but that doesn't neccessarily make it right.

Actually, yeah. If Randy Johnson said exactly what Schilling said about Ralphie and Hero said he wished he got AIDS I'd go at it the same way.

also LOL@ getting upset about Schilling calling somebody a Scumbag. What is the big deal? He pretty much is, he got infront of Congress waived his finger said "NO I never used steriods. PERIOD" and then got caught doing it. That seems like a pretty big scumbag move to me.

I didn't think you were crying over it. I didn't think you really upset over this, and losing sleep over it or something. I just think your thoughts on it are kinda funny so I posted mine. Like it or not Schilling was the only one who came out of the Congress meeting not looking like an idiot, so maybe he should have a 'better then you' attitude in that respect.

I just don't like how Schilling acts like anyone cares what he thinks about Palmeiro. Is he the authority on steroids? No one outside of Massachusetts cares what a washed up Everquest geek who can't get out Royals hitters thinks about steroids.

I just reread the comments, and VEL you keep going off on things I'm not saying. What I'm saying has nothing to do with what Hero said. You and Stima34 are defending Schilling to the grave, and the fact that he was instrumental in your World Series championship obviously helps you form an opinion to some extent.

Its not something to get offended about, you don't have to deny that you have a bias towards your hometown players. A lot of people attack Randy Moss, but I always defend him, its the same thing.

See, I can't fault him for giving his opinion, simply because someone asked him the question.

Hero, the difference typically between athletes and actors is Actors release statements to give their opinions (See: Sean Penn) where an athlete 99% of the time is responding to question.

So, Miz, if no one cares, why do people ask? Why does ESPN/Fox/CNNSI etc, run these things nationally?

1) That was the point you jumped in. Hence that's why it seemed like that's what you were saying.

2) I'm not offended, you're just 100% wrong, this has NOTHING to do with it being schilling for me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if it had been Curt, Randy Johnson, or anyone I would be ok with it. Also since a player doesn't say something like that unless someone asks their opinion.

Heck, I even felt Randy Johnson was ok telling those reporters he didn't want to be photo graphed, however the way he did it was really stupid.

So BCWWF, my "defense of schilling" has very little to do with Schilling or being a "homer" has more to do with players answering questions and "Ralphie" being a scum bag.

So, ESPN "Outside the lines" talked today about Roids and the effects on Little League.

They had Dante Bichette and his kid, Dante talked how he knew who was on, as an athlete you could tell. He talked how from day one he would tell his son "that guy hit that home run because he's on steroids, I don't want you to ever do those" and his kid used to say "Daddy, is that man on Asteroids".

They show'd another kid, when the little leaguers did the "who their favorite player is" said "Ralphie" and did the whole finger point/quote from when Ralphie was in front of congress, the kids also said that wasn't his fav player.

Talked to another kid who last year would say Sosa but now Derek Lee, because between the corked bat and the roids aligations he doesn't trust his "hero".

Plus a kid who Giambi was his fav player.

Just found it interesting seeing how kids see it.

The question is, how will they feel in 5-10yrs when they have a college scout or a pro scout looking at them.

Hero and other Canadians who still think for some reason the AL rookie of the year is Gustavo Chacin, I'd like to hear why he is any better than fellow rookie Joe Blanton.

Chacin - 3.62 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, .270 BA against, 5.04 ERA in August
Blanton - 3.61 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, .238 BA against, 0.98 ERA in August
