McAfee vs. Cole was very good.

Balor vs. Thatcher and NA title Ladder match were decent to pretty good. First hour of the show did feel pretty weak compared to TakeOver standards.

Commentary has been pretty weak though since no Mauro on the show and its been lacking that big show passion he brings to TakeOvers.

NXT Women's title match was pretty good but ending and post-match stuff felt more like WWE style booking.

NXT's been really trying to fix the mess they made with Rhea's star rise and direction after Charlotte deflated it earlier in the year.

NXT was a bit lazy with this pre-match hype video since its the exact same one they showed on Wednesday's show.

Still a pretty great hype video overall.

NXT feels better in this environment than it would in the ThunderDome I think

Crowd sounds pretty loud for its size... a lot better than the fake crowd noise and 144p fans staring lifelessly

So far this Lee vs. Kross match feels like every other NXT title match or main event in recent years where it just goes on and on but hasn't hit the kickout fest portion yet. If it does then its just like every one of those matches.

Its been Kross' best match in NXT so far though.

Kross beat Lee.

Triple H is just as bad as Vince is when it comes to pushing guys he wants on NXT.

Lee's Double Champ reign was such a huge bust. At least Naito's Double Champ reign in NJPW was mainly a bust because of the coronavirus. Lee's got ruined by some really shitty booking. Having Triple H and co take over more of NXT's Creative has been such a big mistake for the brand.

I'd put this TakeOver more in the middle of the pack for TakeOver shows although need to think a bit more about it since I was watching most of it at the same as AEW Dynamite's show so didn't give it full attention.

Post match stuff, sure, but I thought the ending was great. Fantastic match. Only complaint is Dakota working the arm over for 5 minutes in the beginning. Like, I know Io's arm was the story, but they could of done something a little different to work that angle besides a bunch of arm holds one after another. Maybe even have Dakota do the arm stomp that Bazsler did to her, since Io brought that whole thing up.

But it was still a well worked match. Enjoyed it a lot.

Mcafee was impressive. Guy seems like a natural, and covered up his inexperience with some good heel work. That said, I didn't really care about this match, because they've done nothing in the build to get me behind Adam Cole. Part of me is happy he stayed himself, because one thing I hate about WWE is how people change into a completely different person when they turn face, with no explanation whatsoever. But by that same token, you have to give fans more than "this guy is a slightly bigger douchebag than this douchebag" to turn someone face.

I don't care about Cross, so I skipped the main event. Seems dumb to take the title off Lee already.

I was listening to busted open on Friday and he was saying he's always wanted to be a wrestler. I also never realized he's only 33 (seems like he played in the nfl longer and would be older) so if he was actually serious about being a wrestler he probably has way more time ahead of him in that regard. He says he's in the best shape of his life since he lost about 30 lbs for his wedding cause he was 265 last year cut down to 235.

But he did mention he was trained by Rip Rogers for a short time when he first started getting involved with NXT a few years ago thinking that would get him a wrestling match but it didn't. Mark Henry was hosting and he was trained by Rip too, so when I heard that I knew Pat was probably going to put up a great performance for a "celebrity" but he still exceded my expectations by a little bit with his trash talking and the fact he was selling better than some of the full timers.

Storyline wise, they we're hindered by having a couple weeks slthough they did do a good job with the vid package of making it seem like its been a slow long build.

Yeah the match itself ended up being better than I originally felt after giving it some more thoughts since I was still on a big buzz from AEW's finish to their show and initially wasn't fond of the shenanigans that happened near the end.

If it wasn't for the Cole vs. McAfee match surpassing the low expectations I had by a lot and McAfee being surprisingly very good in the ring, the Women's title match would have been my match of the night.

Felt like every match was solid, but I'm really against taking the title off Keith. I just don't see what they do in Kross.

Other than that, it was pretty enjoyable. Ladder match was good. Really enjoyed some of the big bumps (Reed off the ladder with Candice on his back, Candice's top rope rana, Gargano's sunset flip bomb that made me audibly cringe). I think that this match got really messed up when Lumis got hurt. Seems like he was slated to win. Priest bores the hell out of me, but probably won't hold the belt for too long.

I had low expectations for Cole / McAfee and they exceeded them. Pat did some really cool stuff for a first match. I wasn't as bored as I imagined.

Dakota / Io was real good. Hope they have more matches in the future. NXT almost needs a female hoss division. Ripley, Gonzalez, Mercedes Martinez...those would be pretty fun matches I think.

Kross is over because Scarlett is hot and his entrance is cool. After that, nothing. I never thought that I'd say I would miss Cole as champ, but it's been like 2 months, and if they want to just go back in time, I won't bitch that Cole is champ ever again.

He doesn't go back to old school 80s wrestling as a fan but he grew up like most of us as a fan of the attitude era and im pretty sure given his comments on busted open bashing the SNL guys and Tyson Fury, im sure he has an appreciation for kayfabe
