Friend if mine stopped by half way through the show. Still watched just wasn't on my phone any.
Feel like they should have done the switch at Bound for Glory but can see why they'd wait for the debut.
Think they should hold off on the Tessa/Sami thing for now. Could easily have Sami avoiding facing her but they might go ahead with it for next PPV. |

RVD taking credit for everyone copying him was also a highlight. I just don't have much interest in him and Rhyno in a feud in almost 2020 |

Apparently ODB has a food truck that caught on fire after the last Starrcast.

There better be Taco's. Also I really want to see RVD. I'm taking my GF ... well she's taking me she got the tix for free from a friend... but I think the only wrestler she would know is RVD.

I will go full Cornette on IMPACT tapings from last night. The worst show I have ever seen from a "national" company, by far. Everyone was play fighting smh... Some exceptions, I'll go into it. 250 people there TOPS. Very bad attendance.

So many thoughts... all are negative... I'll just go with what comes to me...
RVD was HORRIBLE. Nobody wants to boo him, so they just pretty much stay quiet. His heel gimmick really sucks and his in ring working is in S L O W M O T I O N. Jordyn Grace is really good, hope she gets into AEW eventually. Actually all of the women were better than I expected. Dashwood was solid. The "Locker room leader" was better than expected but the worst of the bunch. Ethan Page is good, he needs to get out of there. Same for his tag partner Alexander. Brian Cage is like RVD, S L O W M O T I O N... but it's because his mobility is compromised due to his excessive bulk. NOBODY threw one good punch the whole night. I saw more red thighs than anything. So many legs slaps it was just absurdly insulting. So much of the action came off like the guys or girls just trying to do cool spots that had no offense reality. From the very first match to the last everyone did dives, rana's, and all of the cool moves that NXT has made famous... Just really bad wrestling. Some people who seem to know how to remember choreography and have decent bodies, that's the majority of Impact Wrestling roster. The best match was Elgin vs Eddie Edwards. And honestly neither one of them had a lick of psycology to their work. They brawled aimlessly with nobody selling anything. Why do the Shamrock/Takayma spot only to literally sell nothing? The whole show came off as FAKE ASS BULLSHIT. People playing wrestler, doing what they've seen in Japan, NXT, or PWG. Havoc is one of the worst wrestlers I've ever seen. As I got to the Ballroom I goto the mezz to take a piss cause that's where I usually go. They had it as a VIP area but I went anyway cause there was no lines. I ran into Havoc and some other goth wrestler going over spots in slow motion, Petey Williams making sure his dick wasn't visible in his tights, D'lo Brown just having a coffee looking sad... Scott D'More walking about fat... Yeah no security or anything. I'm just literally backstage at Impact. And it's awkward. But that's Melrose it's been like that every show I've seen. Very unprofessional. Also at an Impact taping they tell you no stories. It goes like this... Ring announcer "okay everyone let's show AXS TV why New York has the best fans we are live in 3...2..1" literally before every match. It's just stop start stop start... very controlled and produced, it did not at all feel like an event being captured on tape just fake wrestling matches happening in a particular order and there "has" to be a crowd there. 250 tops. Every show I've seen at Melrose had tons more people than this taping. I got my tickets for free they were GA and ended up with decent seats behind the camera, but we left after Elgin/Edwards. The main event was a tag with RVD/Cage and I dunno who else. Probably trash though. Impact made MLW look world class to me last night. Oh and Joey Ryan was fun and everything but when it came to the time to do the dick flip I felt "OMG this gimmick has run it's course"... he's just milking the money now. It won't be long before he has to do something different. But he is a really great worker when he's actually working the match. I've never seen more leg slaps though. Fuck it was atrocious. |

I like to watch wrestling when it's on and I'm bored... so I won't say I won't watch Impact down the line, but it is certainly not destination tv for me. I've tried with them so many times. I've actually watched them weekly for the past month or so... but yeah it's really bad.

Watching the show a few weeks ago I did wonder how their tapings went. On TV it's comes off just the way you mentioned. Match and then a few promos of something like The Rascals skits "backstage" then back to the venue for the next match.

I like the RVD heel character. It makes sense with the stiff he's put on Twitter as well. Probably doesn't translate over to a live audience though as all he's done really is turn on Rhyno. Needs more heat. That being said he has been sluggish in the ring with his best match coming against Moose.

From a production standpoint the shows really haven't changed much on TV. That would be where Mitchell came in. He wouldn't have anything to do with the lackluster atmosphere during a taping.

Impact has figured out that they are the ECW to this AEW/WWE battle. They've embraced the Indy style an are trying to build around it. On one hand it's good they've found an identity but I does come with a cost. Doing so has gave them an advantage over ROH as they've kind of become the new king of the Indies. Feel like Impact, RoH, NWA, and MLW are in a battle between themselves to be #3 and being on AXS TV gives Impact the advantage early. If MLW could get on WGN America which would be a good fit they'd be a easy #3.
Think MLW starting a women's division is the wrong way to go though. Way too much women's wrestling nowadays. |

They're basically just a TV promotion. Before this current regime they did 4 taping a year just to cover TV. They've now started to tour more and got away from Orlando but are still just for TV purpose. They were willing to give 100% of ticket sales to ODB so they probably knew it wasn't going to draw well.
TV keeps wrestling companies alive, WCW would still be alive had it not got cancelled or been able to find a new home. Vince just swooped in before it had the actual chance. It's why TNA and ROH have lasted so long. They are both now owned by groups that need content for their channels. |
