Yeah didn't like doing the lights off thing for Sting and Darby... kinda cheapens it cause you expect something big to happen instead of a standard run in from current roster members

Feel like starting the title match halfway through the show would’ve been even more of a giveaway that it was going a full hour than having it start the show

i get putting the title match first because putting it on an hour in is a bit more "hey we're probably going an hour!" than opening with it. feels like there is no great place on a two hour card to put an hour draw, though. |

IN MY OPINION, they had teased a Tony Khan announcement that they never actually delivered. Could’ve used that to distract people from the main event going long. |

I would also submit that Shida/Deeb would’ve been a better main event.

World title match was so fun. Can’t wait for the title re-match. Have to assume they’ll add another person and/or stipulation to it.

I’m waiting for Noid’s expert analysis after skimming through a 2 min clip of the world title match.

Too bored with AEW to even read the results. I’ll just assume that nothing meaningful happened.

Serious point: AEW manages to lure a few people in periodically for their special shows. Many have pointed out that they hold these shows way too frequently. The last thing they need to do on top of that is have them underdeliver.

Lol, did they really repeat the time limit draw gimmick already? Oy…
Predictably seeing a lot of AEW viewers shitting on it. TK is very out of touch by having Danielson turn heel, struggle with geeks, then go Broadway in a 60-minute title match that doesn’t make either man look particularly good outside the hardcore fans who already rated them. Do people think that the appeal in wrestling is seeing these guys run a marathon? Wouldn’t surprise me if this actually hurts AEW. TK’s booking has already killed Danielson’s drawing power (he’s often in the lowest rated segments of the show). |

Yes, a heel turn and a time limit draw will be the death of AEW.

AEW doesn’t understand why Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan was so over in 2012/2013/2014. It wasn’t just because he’s an amazing technical wrestler bell-to-bell. Yes, even the most flippant of marks can see that. It was how he pieced it all together to generate a charisma that connected him to audiences all over the world. It was his selling. It was his natural quirkiness. It was him being comparatively small compared to a lot of his opponents. It was a little bit luck too.
People loved the Daniel Bryan package and what it meant. No, you can’t replicate it exactly. But to think the secret to getting the most out of this guy is to have him work free matches that Meltzer gives five snowflakes to is missing so much of the story. Danielson got over without those sort of accolades (even though most agree Meltzer’s ratings are bullshit). He was more over without a five star match than with one (I’m assuming Meltzer has started handing them to him now he’s with AEW). Bryan might be his own worst enemy with this stuff too. He seems like the guy who constantly wants to put others over and just wrestle for funsies, and not necessarily in the way that is going to generate the most interest. And that is why you need a booker who knows what the fuck they’re doing. |

Remember when they had judges for Cody/Jericho so this sort of thing wouldn’t happen? Whoops.

It’s easy to view a time limit draw and think “wow they must’ve pissed off the crowd, listen to those boos!” But if the crowd is into a match I don’t see how the reaction could’ve been anything BUT boos.
You ring the bell and it’s crickets, that’s obviously a bad sign. Cheering would be even worse because it would imply you’re glad the match is finished. It’s human nature to want to see a conclusion, and so when you’re into a match it’s normal to boo a non-finish. I think most fans are smart enough to understand why the finish was what it was, even though it blue balled them in the moment. I don’t take most of that booing as “fuck this company” boos |

The draw was very predictable but will set up bigger matches and was not upsetting. It's just the rest of the show wasn't as good.

As a general rule, I find the “it worked for the people in the building” argument less and less persuasive. In too many cases the number of people in the building is about the number of people you can get. They’re the captive audience willing to go along with almost anything. There’s a wider audience companies like AEW should be appealing to that they are missing.

Overall I think since Arthur Ashe AEW has become less and less retainable in regards to booking. They aren't booking must see tv every week, it's good but it's not really hooking me as it did in the summer.

Got to be honest as an AEW fan, they haven't gotten anything new out of Danielson yet. Like, I feel like everything I know is because of WWE and ROH but he hasn't "evolved his character" that much like Jericho does every few years.
Punk is a bit more personal with the audience and his path so far feels a bit better than Danielson. Both though haven't been booked excellently. It's not all about the matches they've had though they both have been in with some no-names that didn't really matter beyond record padding. It's more about the angles. They have had lots of angles but for Danielson in particular they don't stick out as much. I care more about Mox, MJF, Darby/Sting, FTR, Death Triangle, The Elite and Matt Hardy more than Danielson right now. |

Banger of a Title match. I was hoping for the last minute Cowboy win but dont mind this either... Hangman beats Omega - Danielson draws with Omega - Danielson and Hangman draw.
Triple threat would be insane one day and might finally top the WM 20 Main event as my favourtie triple threat of all time. |
