Dunno where the boring is coming from, thought that was a good game. A bit gutted Villla didn't score, had him and Forlan top scorer and both gets get quatered cause of 4 top scorers, still win few 100 but would have been more had Villa scored and won it alone and a lot more if Forlans shot hadn't hit the bar last night.

Why'd Muller win, least games played?

They base it on assists if the goal tally is tied.

Dutch were quite awful but wasn't a big fan of the Spanish with their simulation and crowding of the ref. Spain were obviously the better team football wise so they deserved the win.

That final was dull, think holland v germany would've been much better.

Only the 2nd time the Euro Champ has won the World Cup. Seems like something that would've happened a bit more regularly.

Everyone saying the final was dull, didn't see it that way myself thought it was a good game. Wasn't helped by the Dutch insistence to kick counter the problem of the ball being a bit weird by bypassing it and just kicking the Spanish instead mind.
Best team in the world are the champions which is nice, would have been better to see them score a few more goals but when you can keep the ball as well as they can 1-0 is all you need. Loved Inneista getting the winner, such an amazing footballer. Highlight of the game was one corner of the pub errupting when Van Bommel got booked, the lot of them had a fortune on him getting booked at 6/1 or something. And joining in some Spanish sing a long at the end while jumping around the place and embracing my Spanish heritage ( once ate some paella ) Forlan my player of the tournament, was just fantastic the whole way through. Mueller and Ozil the obvious breakouts but they were hardly great unknowns. |

It's amazing to me that a team that had a 122 shots and 8 goals for the tourney can be seen as a ball control team.

JOHANNESBURG, July 11, 2010 The Netherlands Win World Cup The Netherlands Wins First World Cup and Ends 22-Year Streak Without a Title of Any Kind Spain's Xabi Alonso heads the ball during the World Cup final soccer match between the Netherlands and Spain at Soccer City in Johannesburg. (AP Photo) (CBS/ AP) The Netherlands defeated Spain by a score of SCORE to SCORE to win its first World Cup title. Even with Spain dominating possession, it was the Netherlands that had the best chance to score after 75 minutes of Sunday's foul-filled World Cup final. Arjen Robben took a through ball from playmaker Wesley Sneijder and went one-on-one with goalkeeper Iker Casillas, but his 62nd-minute shot was kicked out for a corner by Casillas' right foot. Before that, it was Spain that had the best chances to take the lead and win their first World Cup. Defender Sergio Ramos sent a header from Xavi Hernandez's cross on target, but goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg made the save in the fifth minute. Spain striker David Villa's left-foot volley from Xabi Alonso's cross then hit the side-netting in the 12th. Spain ended a 44-year barren spell when it won the 2008 European Championship and can become only the third team to be world and European champion at the same time. Spain's exquisite talent is reminiscent of that of the Dutch when "Total Football" carried them to the 1974 and '78 finals. I think I must have missed something, but ah well. HUP HOLLAND HUP! Probably a template article to be edited slightly and put up as soon as the full time whistle went, if Holland won. Sort of thing happens all the time, and they're sometimes uploaded by mistake. I guarantee every news agency has a pre-written obituary for any ailing celebrity you could think of.

No final with that dreadful Dutch side was going to be a great game of football. I enjoyed it nonetheless because the best team won, but the Dutch insistence on booting any player who moved a bit throughout the tournament was obscene.
