Or at least give the guy his receeding long hair, tights and lone wolf gig back. At least that was different and had some cool aspects.

I remember his feud in NXT with Bull Dempsey was my first introduction to both guys. I immediately thought “Dempsey has got to win this feud. He’s got way more appeal than this other boring, generic, overgrown 90s jobber-looking guy.”
I don’t think Dempsey was all that great. Corbin was just that bad. |

Just watch Mid South and Smokey Mountain instead. It's good to go back to basics.

My general interest in WWE has been waning for years mostly because of RAW and WWE PPVs being very hit-or-miss in quality, more so on the miss side. Outside of some brief periods, RAW is pretty much just background noise whenever its on.
My overall interest in wrestling is still at a pretty good level because of NXT being enjoyable to watch, especially TakeOver shows, and been gradually watching more non-WWE stuff in recent years to pick up the slack. |

I love wrestling, but hate WWE. Even if there is a thing good that happens, it is poisoned by the well. Why is it going to matter? The product insults people’s intelligence and sensibilities, and then they’re baffled when people switch them off.

On Corbin: He fucking sucks.
The guy is tall, but he doesn’t even have a good look. They need to dress him like a restaurant manager because he looks weird without a shirt. He needed to shave his head because his stringy, receding hairline looked weird. He’s not good in the ring. He’s competent, I guess. His promos have never been anything that grabbed me, but I can’t remember any of them, which is in itself an issue. Even if he’s gotten better, I can’t imagine he’s talking people into buildings. He’s got no charisma. They actively tell you he sucks and he’s the reason Raw ratings are going down, and they push him. Fuck. |

"You hear that heat, this guy is the best heel because I booked him so well, I'm the best pal!" It's why Vince keeps pushing him, because Vince worked himself into thinking Corbin is massively over as a heel, when all he really has is go away you suck heat. |

Honestly, I fell in love with the WWF and WCW of 1998, when I was entertained at every second, because if I didn't like what happened on one, I could go to the other. I stuck to watching WWE up until the past few years because there was still enough of that element which I fell in love with to tune in.
The love was going further away from me year by year, as the promos were but robotic PG-rated scripts, all the faces in the company I remembered disappeared, the storylines were nonsensical and random feuds nobody asked or cared for, and a horde of talented potentials reduced to being stale non-characters flung in aimless directions. The thing that made me walk away from being any kind of fan of WWE's was Roman Reigns royally fucking up his promos night after night, yet, they proceed to give him a sickeningly unrealistic push even as far as retiring the Undertaker (my all time favorite). Now you see the company today openly agreeing about how terrible their content is, but what have they done to fix it? |

WWE got really bad a long time ago, but it's interesting how it's starting to fatigue people at such an increased rate now. It's like a group fatigue has set in among wrestling fans.

Fans got the endings they wanted at WM 35 (after very convoluted stories setting them up) w/ Brock losing, Becky and Kofi both winning. I think a lot of people knew whatever happened next would be awful and said 'nah, I'm going to end things with these people on top'. The rest of us have tried to keep watching since WM but it's just nose-diving off a cliff and the cliff was already barely held together as is. |

All that being said, I'm excited to see what AEW can offer as a product. So far of the videos I have watched (Dustin, Cody, some promotional stuff, interviews w/ Tony Khan) I am looking up.

I don’t feel like Becky and Kofi are the sort of acts going to draw. People like them, but they’re not really stars. And that perception, and the knowledge that WWE is going to fuck it up, makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy. Either they are pushed perpetually with the anctipatoon of the fuck-up, or they fuck it up.

This past Thursday, I went to an indy show in the Toledo area called Extreme Chaos Wrestling. All hardcore matches but they all find ways to tell stories in the ring. I walked out of the show thinking to myself "WWE does nothing to entertain me like this. They haven't put something out of this nature on my TV in 2-3 years". It reminds me of the sad state that wrestling is in now.
WWE is so watered down. I remember when there were hundreds of signs in the crowd. Now you are lucky if you see 10-15. Storylines are a joke and the main ones lack the big thing: A Story. Let the story play out instead of blowing your load on every feud within the first 10 minutes something develops. |

This is the first week where I've missed both RAW and Smackdown. To be honest, I didn't even look at the spoilers until Lane posted them.

I think that point is "dangerous" when the fan realizes that they don't need it in their life, and it stops being an appointment and slowly fades away in the schedule.

Two weeks in a row I haven’t watched (watched Bray Wyatt’s promo online). Haven’t done that since I didn’t have cable for a few months 5 years ago. Reading the results, I missed nothing.

Microcosm of the current product: Even though you went on to explain your issue being that they tell stories in the ring, and how WWE doesn't really do that anymore, anyone looking to detract from what you're actually saying to defend WWE will dwell on the hardcore aspect instead of addressing why their storytelling is worse than random Ohio indy fed. |

With the recent example of Kofi's angle ahead of 'Mania aside, I find that when there is a true "angle" they are extremely "daytime drama" esque or cartoon-y and it really is turning me away from the product. An example that springs to mind was Jason Jordan being Kurt Angle's son. Or more recent example of The Revival shaving each others backs. Ugh.
Coupled with the fact that everything at the moment is so stop/start. Like here is Bobby Roode. And he has a moustache now. But then he disappears from TV. Or "hey we've split The Bar up, here's Cesaro" and then he gets stuck on Main Event. Also as a side note, now I know that the brand split is essentially worthless again as all the biggest names appear across both shows. Since Wrestlemania I have barely watched. I read the results but I've not even caught Raw or Smackdown for the past three weeks. For me that is extremely unusual. I'm not saying "AEW is going to be better" but I am finding myself at a point where I want to watch something different (but with the same or similar production values) as WWE. I think it's just the hope that there will be something better. |
