Rate the Game: Week 69 (Yeah, that's like a SEX THING!) - 16,000th POST SPECTACULAR!
Yeah, look at that number up that title! You know what it's about. That's a number that's all about working it hard and being dedicated to working it hard. I am, of course, referring to the fact that this is POST NUMBER 16,000 in my illustrious TPWW career! Who can forget all of those classic posts from the annals of TPWW history like...uh...that one time in that one thread! Yeah, that's the ticket. Also, we need to look at the fact that this is another week for Rate the Game. Surely with a milestone like this there's got to be a doozy lined up for this week, right? Well before we go to the bowl we have to go to the leaderboard to see where last week's Hitman: Codename 47 ended up. Not a lot of players but certainly a lot of love. Let's take a look....
Special thanks to Big Vic for doing the math and spoiling things for us early. Anyways, that's quite the ensemble up there at the top as 47 is number 2 with his first outing. He certainly fared better than his movie I would presume. Well with that out of the way we move on to what's in store for this sixty-ninth edition. Let's do some of that hot pulling out action.... ...oh, yeah, that felt good. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we're back at it with Nintendo as we look at one of the top SNES titles from its heyday, the simian sequel to one of our other top elite games, Donkey Kong Country 2! The original has been sitting pretty up there on our list but how does the sequel fare? Is it better? Does it fall short? Is it on par? You tell us. Do that rate thing and discuss and here's to another 16,000 posts...probably.... No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ...again. |

3.
It's a fun play and all, but didn't grab me like the 1st one did for some reason. Have access to all 3 of these on Nintendo Online right now. Played through and beat 1 again recently. |

I just remember raging so hard at the roller coaster levels when I first played it.

Yeah, they were punishing with the timing of those jumps. It's funny because my son has jumped in on the SNES gaming and said "Man, how did you play games so hard without raging!?"
Told him all games were "harder" back then. There was no "DLC", no "patching" on consoles. The game you bought was all you had, and that was that. Making them harder was an artificial way to make the game "longer". Except Sekiro...... they are just into BDSM. |

Haven't played, sorry. Didn't really seriously "get into" gaming until about a year after N64 came out.

Never played it as much as the first one, but I'd rate it lower just because Dixie Kong was not as fun to play as Donkey Kong.... Donkey Kong could slap the ground and that was radical

Dixie was a freaking Godsend in some of those levels thanks to her ponytail spin move. The battle against K. Rool in his airship is a nightmare without her.

the ponytail spin was definitely OP. 100% the best way to go.

Never played it. Wasn't much of a platforming fan and the game came out back when I was dependent on my parents to buy me games so a platformer wouldn't be at the top of the list.
Looks great though. |

I'd definitely recommend to anyone who hasn't played it to give it a whirl on the Switch's Nintendo Online. You'll know from that first area what kind of game you're getting into and whether or not you'll enjoy it.

Another piece from the soundtrack that's absolutely tremendous. Honestly the whole thing is playlist-worthy.

All 3 of these games are 5/5
Definitely some of my favorite games as a kid. 2 introduced the ponytail spin and that changed the whole game for the better. |
