Underwhelming.

Dexter is back though and if the long run is anything to go by, this show runner at least did season 4 so there is a chance it will build towards brilliance once more. It wasn’t bad at all, just very formulaic but that will likely draw us into a season of this kid’s dad trying to get Dexter.

It has excellent potential after a 2.5/4 first episode that was likely designed to make you re-familiar with Dexter the way the original producers wanted him.

Great ending. Almost worth the lackluster original ending of the series and the waiting 10 years for his son to be grown.

Also as far as climaxes go, that season just ripped the arse out of it.
No way can the show continue with any sustained quality akin to that. All of the potential for a future was balled up and chucked right at you.

They hot shot that bitch with at least three different endings rolled into one.

This show as a whole was very good. Massive step up from season 5-8 of the original run, but they failed to land the ending for me. Really rushed and nonsensical final episode after a really well paced season up to that point.

just finished up episode 2.

SPOILER: show
absolutely loving it. the lack of dexter voiceover for the first half or so of the first episode was brilliant. once he snaps back in after the white buck is shot is a beautiful payoff. glad we didn't play around for episodes with the will he/won't he game. also glad they lean into him being sloppy and didn't try to run from it or suddenly make it that ten years removed he got really good at being discrete.

deb just calling dexter on his shit is beautiful. that scene where she's like pawing at his mouth and sticks the bullet in? wild.
