Chris Jericho is a good gauge to see whether or not you treat AEW fairly or if you’ve worked yourself into liking it. If you can’t see that Jericho sucks now and is a mess, you’ve got AEW goggles on. Regular people see him and “what the shit happened to Jericho, how is he still wrestling?”

I am honored that you mentioned me. Omega has been very well protected. Despite his 10 losses those first couple of years, he's actually been pinned a grand total of 5 times. In order. Jericho, Moxley, Pentagon (tag match), PAC, and Jericho AND Guevara (tag match). Usually, it was Nakazawa or Page taking the fall in multi-man matches. Only person Omega hasn't gotten his singles win back (multiple times over) from was Jericho. Like I said, well protected.

As for the Bucks, they have their signature fluke loss spot, which is getting victory rolled while attempting the Meltzer Driver. I am not going to go into as much detail with the Bucks as I did Omega, because god damn I can't stand the Young Bucks matches. I just fast forwarded to the end of the Omega stuff.

I'm not really giving them shit on the fact that they are winning all the time. Hell, I get the booker booking themselves on top. It's kind of shitty, but I understand it. That said, what I don't get is putting yourself over in a way that makes your opponent look like a complete doofus. Adam Page is dead as fuck. Kazarian is deader. Who is the #1 contender for the tag titles? What tag team looks competitive?

I can’t tell wtf here is arguing but if he’s saying that putting the belt on hangman is being done yo try and get him over, then he’s hilariously wrong. Hangman is already over workout the belt, has been over since limited crowds were allowed, and has been spelt getting built up to the main event. Idk how you can take a two plus year slow burn push and claim it’s being done to get him over when the whole journey so far is doing that job.

I remember seeing Hangman in ROH and finding him really generic. Watching early AEW I actually started liking him. Old school alcoholic cowboy suits him well.

Can’t really speak on how he’s been lately. Seems like they’ve protected him to some extent though.

After losing to Omega late last year in the title contender tournament he’s only been pinned twice and one of them was in a handicap situation. They’ve been protecting him very well.

I am a casual viewer who reads results and the like, but I Hangman has really caught my eye on YouTube highlights and the like. I really like his look and character and think he is the potential genuine star out of the initial group.

That Malachi Black debut definitely caught the attention though. You just can’t have Cody come back and beat him. He already feels like a bigger star after one match and how his whole presentation is put together.

Cody and the Young Bucks could end up Jarretting AEW if they don’t let better performers and more over stars pass them by.

Jericho is done too, but who is there that is going to tell him that? His weight has taken away his speed and athleticism and his matches look like a crawl now.

Their problem, going forward, is having those guys in key positions in the company while still performing. That could end up being what handicaps them if stars come in and are forced to stay at their level, exchanging wins, instead of decisively flying past what are essentially midcarders.

Cody and the Bucks are not Jarretting anything, they are maintaining their drawing ability for the company which is necessary while rubbing off on less famous talent to elevate them. The Bucks are still the biggest name in the tag division in the company. Cody is rarely a main event and is only featured in like one in three episodes usually.

I'd say if anything though the Bucks are less of a draw than they were before AEW started. I could be wrong but it kinda feels that way.

I know AEW fans think differently, but Cody is a midcarder. He looks, feels and acts like a midcarder and he puts himself in feuds with focus and dramatic stories because he feels like he is a bigger star than he is. That’s the truth of it.

The Bucks, in my opinion, are everything that is wrong with wrestling. The lack of psychology in their matches, the spotfests, their look. They will never elevate AEW above where it is now. They are awful. Tag teams that can actually work and tell stories in the ring should be getting the focus of the division. Let the Bucks do a Rockers and open the card.

Time has come for these guys to move down the card and afford those with a genuine chance of being real stars the spotlight.

The Bucks are abysmal. I don’t think Cody is “Jarretting” anything. He was in the world title picture early because he needed to be but then he stepped out and now is constantly putting potential stars over while beating opening guys to keep his losses impactful.

The Bucks on the other hand are nowhere near the tag team Gods they seem to think they are and it ruins the division. Pretty sure they brought FTR in mostly to feed their ego.

Cody does act like a bigger star than he is, but that's a good thing. It's part of what makes him interesting and fun to watch. And when he does eventually turn heel, it's going to work in his favor even more.

I will take your word for it guys, but he seemed to make the loss to Black all about him, much like Hogan used to do back in the day. Ok, you finally get the win, but the sympathy and attention stays with me.

If he comes back and competes with Black, it isn’t an interesting story and he will have made it all about him and his story again. Let’s wait and see…

I could understand the "Cody is a mid-carder nothing more" rhetoric if you'd only watched him in WWE but Cody outside of WWE has been a main event talent. He excelled outside of WWE to the point he was an instrumental figure in the rise of AEW.

I know he's not as flashy as Kenny Omega but he doesn't try to be. And I know there has been several times in the past year he's come off a bit Memphis white meat babyface, and that hasn't been a hit with everyone. But even through the flaws he's presented in AEW thus far, he's still got a true connection to the audience and a huge crowd favorite. For me when Cody was in the feud with Jericho and the months after that were supposed to lead up to the first Blood 'n Guts in Newark, Cody was my favorite worker in the world and I'd say one of the best in the world at the time.

That wasn't too long ago and AEW has tried to scale his role down to feature others but he will get into a really hot program again soon and you'll see that incredibly high level of connection that he has to to the audience.

Yeah I'm a fan of the Codester.

Cody vs Dustin was some main event storytelling. I just hate that the drama that followed the match was just used to put over the Dumb Fucks.

Cody has done more on screen to help establish and build new stars and been in far more interesting feuds than Omega and the Bucks combined. Only a main event player can do that and still maintain credibility and be a believable contender. Cody is certainly that these days. He’s come a long way from being the skinny kid in legacy.
