Favorite Easter Eggs in games?
I'm partial to the 'Double Rainbow' in Borderlands 2. Typing in 'fuck you' on the Gibberish Questions in the various You Don't Know Jack games also produced some great results. I'm sure I'll think of and post some more as I remember.
No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ...again. |

Mind you I'm not necessarily talking about hidden characters you unlock for play or collectables you find...unless the collectable references something outside the game you're playing.

On topic: one of my faves is the tornado on Dust: An Elysian Tail being an excuse for a Simon's Quest joke. Another is Final Fantasy 9. Period. The whole game is a charming callback to things from 1-8. If I had to narrow it down, though, I'd say the music at Gulug Volcano being an update of Gurgu Volcano from 1 tops the laundry list of stuff from that game. |

On the subject of music, getting the Ghosts and Goblins music playing on Shade Man's stage in Mega Man 7 was kind of neat. On the subject of Mega Man, I'm torn on whether or not to count the Hadouken and Dragon Punch upgrades in Mega Man X and Mega Man X2, respectively.
With Doom: Eternal coming up I'm also reminded of the Doomguy showing up in Duke Nukem 3D and Blood. |

Plus the double rainbow reference in BL2 isn't just an easter egg, it also awards a trophy/achievement the first time it's discovered in The Highlands.

I love the one in mkx where if you play as Jax in Carl Weathers gear and Johnny Cage in a certain attire they re create the most epic and manly handshake ever.

I love the one in Adventure on the Atari VCS/2600. Pretty sure that was the first easter egg in video games.

In doom, there is a corpse in hell with the skyrim helmet and an arrow in it's knee.
