Tough one. Used to love Hogan as a kid, he pretty much got me into wrestling. I watched every single one of his shitty movies as well as his dumbass TV show Thunder in Paradise. But his stupid comebacks ruined his legacy for me. I really don't enjoy watching a tanning bed-atticted pensioner wrestle.
I mentioned before, I'm not really a fan of HBK's late stuff, but it still was beter than Hogan's. Love mid-90s HBK, good cocky heel. And I love the theme. HBK it is. |

Feel like HBK gonna win this easy. About the only argument you can make for Hogan is that he drew more and that he was a crossover icon. HBK owns pretty much everything else. Feel like people will vote for "everything else"

Way bigger star in every meaningful way. If they're being subjective the choice is easy. If this is "who I like best" then it will also be easy.

Hogan drew more, HBK delivered more. Both were huge cocks though. I go with HBK. |

I'm pretty sure I have voted on who I like more in the past, but since Hogan is so far behind I will let myself be convinced and vote for him. |

In this case it's probably still Hogan. But fuck it. Glad HBK is somehow leading this thing because he is the Goddamn man. |

Ome could argue his heel turn before he hit the shelf (along with Bret's) laid the foundation to wwf taking over. Its not like the ratings magically started to get better. It was consistently solid main event storylines.

Lol well one could reasonably argue that point. Bret helped Austin big time and Michaels helped establish the edgier product that would help them win the war.
Michaels killed some momentum in his day but when it came time to do business with Steve, he jobbed (rumours of threatened asskickings aside). When it came time for Hogan to job to Sting he fucked the whole thing up. I know your whole deal about sting not being in shape. But realistically the match should.have beem 10 minutes of gaga with Sting not taking off his coat, pwning nwo members with his bat and a brief scuffle with Hogan, Scorpion death drop and cash your millions at the door. Believe me, nobody was happier than Hogan when he saw a soft Sting and had his built in excuse to fuck the finish of their most important ppv to date. |

Of course Michaels has a place in wrestling history, but he gets a chapter. Hogan gets his own book.

Even as a child, I was more into Macho Man than I was Hogan, but that doesn't discount for the millions that were into Hogan and how big a star he was. His look is iconic and his charisma off the charts
His matches, however, were extremely formulaic and he continued having them long after they were successful. His peak was incredible from a popularity standpoint however. HBK on the other hand, is light years removed from Hogan in the ring. His matches were exciting, dramatic and fueled with emotion. Watching him was my very favourite time to be a wrestling fan. With that said, I can't go against him cause HBK symbolises everything I love about wrestling and why I can't really get into it in 2017. He is the best of all time for me |

If it were called better draw, then it would definitely be Hogan, but since it's better wrestler, and I'm a fan of wrestling, I voted HBK. I can't remember a Shawn Michaels match that I didn't enjoy, and I can't remember a Hulk Hogan one that I did that didn't have Shawn Michaels in it. Even that was for all the wrong reasons.

Wrestling is a business. It takes places while shooting commercials as it does while putting in your 20 min. You know you're a good wrestler when poeple pay to see you.

I mean, effectiveness of the work needs to be evaluated, and there have been fewer wrestlers as effective as Hulk Hogan. That was his job. To go out there and captivate people -- which he did on an undeniably huge scale. The goal of professional wrestling is to make as much money as possible. Hogan was a fucking master at that. Hogan did far more with far less than what HBK managed. I always find the best way to answer these polls is to think "If I'm trying to promote wrestling, who would I rather have on my roster, and who would I rather my rival get?" And I'm sorry, but if I draw Hulk Hogan and you draw Shawn Michaels, then I am going to win all the money. And that is painful to say, because you'd probably take Shawn Michaels over most other people on the planet, because most other guys didn't draw either. You can have great bell-to-bell guys flying around underneath. It's a shame if it's not Shawn Michaels, but them's the breaks in these hypothetical situations. That being said, you can have performative stars -- people who do get "famous" because of the quality of their work. HBK is one of those, for sure. He is the "wrestling fan's wrestler." I actually think Cena and HBK are possibly one of the best one-two punches of different types of star WWE has ever mustered. Because Cena is the one that you want to get over through media presence, etc., and HBK is the critics' choice. Everybody makes out that WrestleMania 23 drew based on Donald Trump and Vince McMahon, solely, but I think something was there in Michaels vs. Cena. Rock and Michaels would be even better. Austin and HBK would be better than Cena and HBK too. But Michaels is great for a certain part. One of the best for it, actually. That's the best argument I can mount against the drawing argument. Hogan was a certain type of star -- one that shines in our culture the brightest. But there are other types of star that can be used to make money in other ways. I don't know -- I'm trying, haha. |

That is fair but we all like HBK better and would rather watch him. If this was for mainstream fans who watched before 1989 hogan would win in a landslide.
But this is for niche fans who grew up on HBK and while respecting Hogan for his abilities and drawing power arent die hard fans of his. |

I didn't even like Hogan that much as a kid. I mean, I wasn't rooting for Earthquake or anything, but I was definitely rooting for the Ultimate Warrior, if that makes sense.

My arguemnt is simply if you're being objective its a no brainer. I prefer Michaels work. But better at the job? Hogan. In their prime I would rather hire Hogan. No question.

But since we have set no parameters for what defines "wrestler" to this game, it's all open to interpretation. If we want to run stats/skills whatever and come up with some algorithm, then I guess we could split hairs, but then we wouldn't need anyone to vote.

Maybe. Depends on the environment where his act would grow stale much faster as it did in wcw. Sure he had a helacious 1996 and 97 but could not sustain the success because his act grew stale.

Michaels all the way. Was never really a fan of Hogan when I was a ten year-old mark, and growing up and reading all the stories and knowing what Hogan was like certainly hasn't endeared him to me.
