Riding In Cars With Boys

Been interested in this movie since 2001 and finally got off my ass and watchedt it... no reason not to in the year 2022 when even though streaming services dont have shit anymore, "123movies" has everything

Love Drew Barrymore so obv i had to watch it... a decent/touching story, "common tale but true" kinda deal... thanks

Was good to kill time on an airplane to watch a movie where I didn't really have to focus or think.

Fun fact (in the vein of mysterious monsters). The killer in Halloween is credited as "The Shape" and not Michael Myers.

This is the last movie Lock Jaw is going to see before he gets kidnapped by drug lords and skinned alive.

Yeah, in the original he was never supposed to be her brother which is why the latest sequels take place after part I and not II

The continuity of Halloween is complete shit. The only film that should be taken seriously is the original.

Jurassic world. 7/10

The way you felt about the last two is how you'll feel about this one. Silly plot with nothing new or spectacular with the special effects but fun popcorn movie any way.

This is why I searched out the memorabilia from the 1st film. Has a signed/certified pic of "The Shape" to go with his Kane Hodder Jason mask

“Life Of Crime 1984-2020” is one of the bleakest, most predictable yet still utterly compelling documentaries I have seen in a while.
Heroin addicts fascinate me. All addictions are fairly interesting to a degree, but only intravenous drug addiction holds real voyeur appeal.

I think it’s the weight fluctuations and the seemingly structural facial fluctuations, they are like masters of disguise who forget to change outfit in private so you still know it’s them.

Big Trouble in Little China - 4/10

I was expecting a film that was bad in a good way and instead just got a bad movie. Its narrative is barely coherent. No characters arc is particularly meaningful or satisfying. The action isnt shot well. There's never any tension in any scene for any reason. Its just bad.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe -- 5.5/10. Mostly the same premise as 1996’s Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, but no stolen TV, and instead we get the played-out trope of the duo trying to “score” ... again. I won't spoil details but they end up being hunted down. There’s “smart” versions of them which were good for a few chuckles, but that was it. Subpar as far as I’m concerned. Wasn’t worth 26 years or even the what was going to be $4.99 for one month subscription to Paramount+, but quickly turned into a 7-day period I had free before billing started that I ended up just hitting the Cancel button as soon as the film ended.

Ossman have you ever seen the documentary “Grey Gardens”?

I have seen it every year since I first saw it.
It deeply worries and yet somehow totally reassures me. Give it a go if you have never had one.

Whiplash- 9/10

I never imaged you could get so much tension out of the setting. Absolutely phenomenal. The writting in outstanding. The performances are all so strong. Jk Simmons, Melisa Benoits, Paul Reiser and Miles Teller all give memorable performances. Score is great (and it would have to be.) Cinematography carries its weight and then some. Really exceptional film. I dont have a bad word to say about it.

It’s a film with so little plot that you can honestly say it’s pure performance that won it the acclaim.
J.K. Simmons earned his Oscar. It has not done anything for his career though.

I wax convinced Miles Teller would become a huge star after Whiplash and War Dogs.
I am still trying to figure out exactly what went wrong.

Thor: Love and Thunder - 3 stars out of 4

Really wanted to give this half a star. I'm not a fan of Taika Waititi's comedic take on Thor and I was upset with so little Sif and how they kind of did her dirty. Consequently I have to put up with this boring version of Valkyrie. And boy, is it even stupider than Multiverse of Madness, especially with the climax.

However, it's just gorgeous to look at and well put together. Gorr is a great antagonist. His motivations are clear and understandable and Bale injects him with the right amount of creepy and heart, and when you see how one particular character carries themselves you kind of find yourself going, "Wait, for whom am I supposed to be pulling here?" The action rocks along with the soundtrack and ultimately it's pulled together by the relationship between Thor and Jane.

There are a few moments that get ruined by some ridiculous aspects especially with two particular additions to the crew and YOU'LL KNOW what I'm talking about when you see it. Overall, it pained me in certain ways but it made up for it in others. A mid-credits scene sets up an arrival and calls back to a previous set piece. The post-credits scene is merely a nice follow-through for one of the characters. Saying anything more would be spoiling things. Bottom line, I think you'll have fun with it.

Really exceptional film. I dont have a bad word to say about it.
I fucking hated this movie so much

JK Simmons is an amazing actor imo...he would be the reason I would go see that movie along with Destor's extremely glowing review.

Teller made the mistake of following up whiplash by taking on reed richards in fox's failed fantastic four reboot. Derailed his career big time. Had it been the hit his agent surely sold it as to him...well those years are gone. Building a reputation is tough work.

Found “Ducktales: Treasure Of The Lost Lamp” online so now watching it for nostalgia and also to see what I actually remember.

So far so good.

Dijon is on the way.

Thor 4 - 7/10

Fun but it betrays its own tension in the 3rd act

I'm really considering deducting a 1/4 star from my original rating for Thor: Love and Thunder. I'm sorry, but the Sif thing and what they do with her here just REALLY annoys me. Her inclusion in this film was the only thing I gave a shit about and looked forward to and once again anything interesting that could be done with a Thor-Sif-Jane dynamic gets tossed aside for the sake of this boring ass version of Valkyrie who, in all honesty, goes nowhere in this movie. That was one hell of a run-on sentence.

Seriously, though, she comes across as just a third wheel for the majority of her time. They've blown TWO chances now to explore this three-way relationship with a character that Thor that has actual history and it would've made a lot more sense here considering the theme of love that's presented here.

Thors love interests have been abandoned completely. Missing the chance to focus on Enchantress/Thor/Loki/Sif was a big point for me around thor 2 but at this point in the film canon thor + jane is the only story to tell. The sif boat sailed ages ago. And its unfortunate.

This version of valkyrie is ok. She was great in thor 3 but here she's only present because its expected not because they had a story for her. Its whatever.
SPOILER: show
Id have prefered her choosing to sit on the sidelines to focus on protecting her people. It would have felt more honest. But whatever.

Foxcatcher- 7/10

There are inaccuracies but over all a pretty good telling of what happened. The wrestling is very authentic. As a film though this is an actors movie and the 3 leads really are pretty great. Mark Ruffalo, Steve Carrell and Channing Tatum. There's a lot of depth to their performances especially in the unspoken moments. If you enjoy watching actors act its a good watch. Might not be for everyone as the drama is understated. I think it works to the benefit of the film though allowing the performances to be more honest instead of melodramatic. Good film.

The Orange Years (Nickelodeon documentary on Hulu).

Really hit with the nostalgia on practically everything. There were core memories unlocked when I saw/heard certain songs as an adult. Like "Pinwheel" which were animated shorts. I recall the song nearly perfect, but good lord those cartoons look like minor nightmare fuel.

Good watch, good fun and enjoyed it. Crazy how some of the cartoons a lot of us know and enjoy came to be.
