In theory the Yankees should have the best pitching in the league, but it's been the opposite all year. I think getting a good second or thrid starter would shape up their bullpen a little bit, and work on defense gradually. Kotsay is the best bet for a CF, but I wouldn't trade Sheffield. He helps being in those few extra runs. If Steinbrenner was smart he'd look at some possible 1B players in a few years.

Yeah I don't understand the Sheffield trade on the Yankees part. Sheffield is one of their guys who is actually playing good, why trade him for Mike Cameron? Cameron is half the player Sheffield is.

I've read that Stanton and Quantrill are gone for the Yankees. Either released or going to be traded.

Cameron's defense is sick - that's why. Last year Red Sox traded a bat (Nomar) for defense (Caberia) and it worked out pretty good.
Except I wish they kept Caberia instead of getting Renteria but what can you do. Everyone has been telling how great Renteria is suppose to be, he's not bad but hes been pretty average so far - he has a shitload of errors too. |

Caberera would have been the better of the two, IMO.

I agree. Caberia wanted a 4 year deal - Red Sox said they didn't want to do that becuase they didn't want to lock up the shortstop spot for that long because of Hanley Ramirez. Now they got Renteria there for 4 years @ 40 mil. I don't know, I guess they thought Renteria was "too good to pass up" - So far he has been a dissapointment. Both middle infielders have been pretty bad this year though, Renteria and Bellhorn both aren't playing as good as last season. Although Bellhorn hit a homer yesterday so maybe he'll turn it around.

Why doesn't Womack just play 2nd though? Cano sucks at defense, atleast when I saw them play the Mets - he looked lost out there.

I wonder if the Twins will make a run at Kenny Rogers now? On one of those shows I was just watching they said that Kenny wants an extension, and after all of this he probably won't get one, and since Texas is pretty much already done they might as well give him to a contender? I dunno, I'd probably part with Lohse and somebody else to have Kenny back.

Beltre with 3 errors today to go along with his .230 average and 6 homers. $11.4 million and worth every penny.

It was pretty obvious that Beltre wasn't going to continue where he left off last year though

Beltre should have stayed in LA and kept what he had going last year. Change of leagues/team probably messed up his flow now he is garbage.

Jason Repko just made an amazing catch. Seriously, check out sportscenter tonight.
And at the moment, Brenneman is telling a story about how the coach is saying Repko might be one of the top defensive OFs in the league. :meh: I haven't seen enough of him yet though so I don't know. Seriously, good catch. |
