The majority can endure so much more than the individual.
I really hated it though. You can blame the studio for that, sticking spoilers in the trailer and posters. Dicks. |

Paramount recently released a new trailer showcasing Sonic's redesigned look.
Also released a new official poster for the film: |

feels v bleak that a group of animators were forced to crunch out an entire do-over of the title character because barely functional adults lost their minds over a children's movie

I'm glad they fixed it..def feel bad for the crew that had to crunch time to fix it but ehhh it had to be done unless they wanted to go down as a worse movie than the Mario Bros (which I love to this day).

this is true. although, i dunno, i get the feeling some of them feel oddly honour-bound to go now - they demanded the change, and they actually got it, so there's this weird through-line on social media of "giving back" to the crew because "they listened" now
it is... honestly insane |

i mean objectively sonic looks heaps better now but i just can't see how it would be worth the effort, time or money to redo it

Now there is a buzz about the movie. Fixing it and announcing it publically was a good idea.

No matter if it's good or bad, more people will watch than before the change.

Apparently Paramount had hired the lead artist of Sonic Mania to be in charge of their redesign efforts for this film.

According to a report from Indiewire, Sonic's redesign is rumored to have cost Paramount around $5 million.
Also rumored that a lot less work was needed to fix the film due to only a few of the CGI scenes with Sonic were completed by the time of the original trailer's release. Quote:

The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise in North America hasn't been relevant since this televised version of it aired on ABC from Sept. 18, 1993 to June 3, 1995. I have no reason to believe that this movie will change that. If it does, it'll be a fucking miracle. And I know what I'm talking about on this shit. = P |

Nick Offerman would have been a cool Doctor Robotnik. Carrey could have been a robot henchman or some shit.
