Napoleon Dynamite
UPDATE: Find out when it's playing near you: http://www2.foxsearchlight.com/napol...leasesched.pdf
Just saw this tonight. So fucking great. The funniest movie I have seen in a while. I was ROFL like the entire way through. Classic shit. Basically, it's about this guy, Napoleon Dynamite, high school student and basically a huge geek. He lives with his grandma and 32 year old brother who is always on chat rooms looking for chicks, and he has a Mexican friend named Pedro who is a new student and wants to win student body president from popular girl Summer (who is played by Hilary Duff's older sister). It is fucking great. The guy who plays Napoleon is classic. The entire theater was cracking up throughout the whole movie and everyone started clapping at the end (idiots, but still). It's only playing in NY and LA right now, but hopefully it will spread around some more because it is funny ass shit. If not, definitely get it on video. I will be buying a copy for myself. If you can't watch it, check out the trailer here, since it is good shit on its own: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_se..._dynamite.html Last edited by Triple A; 07-03-2004 at 06:05 AM. |

It doesn't have a great rating on IMDB but I will check it out when it comes to Boston.

It doesn't have a great rating because the asshole "top 1000 voters" rated it badly probably because they are huge geeks. Out of the normal votes, it says the average is like 8.0, but when they factor in the 2.6 rating by the 23 top 1000 voters, it brings it down. Assholes.
Check how many people rated it a 1. They obviously voted without seeing the movie. |

A film student friend of mine from LA was raving about this today. He's usually good at picking out funny movies. If it doesn't come out in the theater here (probably won't) then I'll have to figure out another way of seeing it.

Yeah he is great. He plays a guy named Rex who runs his own fitness place, Rex Kwan Do.
So many classic lines in the movie. Like the most quotable movie of all time. It seriously is like a laugh (or 3 or 4) per minute. Nonstop. Probably the funniest movie I have ever seen. |

I don't know, Roger Ebert only gave it 1.5 stars. It must be pretty bad.

It's better to be no good with one genre than no good with 50% of every movie in general.

I see the commercial all the time... the scene where he's drawing and the girl asks what it is and he says "It's a Liger... it's pretty much my favourite animal..." cracks me up cuz I've overheard pretty much the same line before followed by a big geek rant about some made-up animal.
I went to school with guys like this and it's pure comedy in an awful way that I'm sure has reserved me a place in Hell. |

Whooooo, submitted a bunch of quotes to IMDb and they added them. No credit though, assholes.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374900/quotes Also, it is gonna open "nationwide" some time in July, so EVERYONE GET READY. It's already spreading all over the place. It only opened in two theaters in NYC its opening week, and like four in LA. Now it's playing in a bunch of theaters around here, so good stuff. |

Uncle Rico: So what do you think? Kip: It's pretty cool, I guess. Uncle Rico: Ohhhh, man I wish I could go back in time. I'd take state. Napoleon Dynamite: This is pretty much the worst video ever made. Kip: Napoleon, like anyone can even know that. Uncle Rico: You know what, Napoleon? You can leave. Napoleon Dynamite: You guys are retarded! LOL |

I watched him on Letterman and I really want to see the movie, but it's not showing anywhere in my state or even the surronding states (I don't think).
