Copying files from old system to new one?

So as you may or may not have heard, my apartment caught fire. My apartment didn't burn down, but it was soaked in about 9 million gallons of water. Half my shit was ruined, including most of my PC. The drives survived, though. So I'm trying to recover files from my old PC (Running XP if it matters) to my new one (Running Windows 7, again, if it matters).

My music and video libraries are copying easily, but anything from my
My Documents" section requires permission. I'm looking at a lot of files, and it says I need permission. It looks like I can manually take permission on each individual file, but since I'm sitting on a ton of files (Mostly my erotic emails to and from Sascha/BDC), doing each file individually is going to be a pain in the ass (Unlike BDC, who's so small you can't even feel him).

So what I'm wondering is if there's a way to copy all my files at once without gaining permission or gain permission/ownership of all files on the drive at once. I did google it, but got a lot of useless results. Otherwise, this is gonna be a looooooong ride....Unlike Sascha, who could be called a Minuteman.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”

Question

Can you do this for the folder and not not individual files? Or select multiple files and do it?

Well, it didn't let me do it for subfolders and files in a folder, but I'll see if the Select multiple files one works once I'm done copying from my music and video library (Different HDD, and I only have one slot right now). Wish I'd thought to try that before.

I did k,now how to do it for individual files tho.

Merci.

Will turning off UAC (I think that's it) in the control panel make it go away?
