Everything is in italics
Bought a new computer and everything on the internet is in italics. What I am typing right now is in italics. What I will be reading in a second will be in italics. And even the porno I'm viewing is a little slanted.
Someone help. I haven't googled the issue yet, I've just tried to fix it on my own. I'm going to go do that now. Quote:

Oh yeah, restart after downloading.
If that doesn't do it, does it do it in all browsers? |

Dunno. Whatever is your default theme font, it's probably missing.

Google you default theme after seeing what it is by right clicking on the desktop and picking personalise, I guess.

MS charge for the font, so I've uploaded the ones out of my C:\windows\fonts
http://www.multiupload.com/G0K5X42S01 Out of ideas if this doesn't work. |

Would it have to do with my encoding?

Went to Firefox-tools-options-advanced and unchecked the "Allow sites to choose their own fonts" and so now every site is in 16pt. Segue UI whether they like it or not.
At least it's not italicized |

Found this:
1. Click Start -> Run. If you cannot locate the 'Run' item, then click 'Window Key' + 'R'. 2. In the run box, type: c:\windows\fonts (Replace c: with the drive letter where the OS is installed) 3. The fonts window will open. Click 'Alt' + 'F' to activate the menu. Click 'Install New Font' in the menu. 4. In the folders dialog, browse to c:\windows\fonts where c: is the OS drive letter. 5. All fonts would now appear under 'List all fonts'. 6. Click 'Select All' and then click 'Install'. 7. Confirm the windows permission dialog. 8. A replace file dialog would appear. Click on 'Yes' to each and every dialog that appears. This will ensure that fresh entries for fonts are written in the registry. To avoid clicking, press and hold 'Alt' key - then press 'Y' key for every dialog that appears. |

That doesn't just replace all fonts, it also changes the registry ao other programs (like Firefox) will find them.

On the left, there's "font settings". Click that and try clicking "restore default font settings".
Turned out the last instructions were for Vista. |

That kind of reinstalls Windows but keeps all your settings and junk. Short of a full reinstall, I'm tapping out for the first time in this forum. |

That fix is for Vista. Is that why it doesn't work for Windows7?

Tools > Options > Content > Fonts and Colors > Advanced
And change the fonts and options until you get it right. Are you sure its not italics but serif? |

That is the temporary fix for now, yes. I shouldn't have to do that though.

Just put in your Windows 7 disc and do a "repair." Or if you don't have a disc just illegally download it and do it.

If it is a new computer you might as well just reformat it and do a "clean install" of Windows.

I decided I would save money by not buying a monitor and only hooking it up through the tv. I can't run BIOS because my TV does not recognize the lowres signal. Once Windows starts and gets to the login screen, that's when my tv recognizes a signal. Guess I have to borrow a monitor from a friend.

MY TV does that through HDMI, but BIOS works fine through VGA. Try that if you've got a VGA port.
