If Jericho had agreed to leave all his goons out of it. Do that how you want. Maybe a bunch of babyfaces help take them out to set up War Games? Then Moxley reveals his eye has healed in the opening minutes of the match, Jericho shits himself and Mox blitzes Jericho. There can be blood, Mox can lap the destruction of Chris Jericho up. The crowd will be all over it. Jericho can get a break with a low blow. But he doesn’t really need anything. Mox can win the belt because of his surprise. Jericho can whinge about being deceived. That would at least make sense. I always took “Swaggie Time” to be named after his sandwich in Perry, OK. If the sandwich has changed its name, I think Swaggie Time can. |

Revealing that the eye is healed late in the match is fine. Personally, I think you're reaching for something not to like here, but it's your opinion and you are of course entitled to it. It was okay. It served its purpose, especially considering Jericho was being cocky and Moxley had that ace up his sleeve.
It wasn't like the bullshit in the Bucks match where they were setting up for the Meltzer Driver, and the rope diver got pulled off the apron, so the other Buck just stands there with his opponent in piledriver positon shocked and frozen in the spot for several seconds instead of just piledriving the guy anyway. They didn't even show if he just let him go, or some counter happened, because the camera was too focused on the fight outside. Besides, I was more bothered by the camera being super close up on Mox when he was down and trying to thump his eyebrow to get the blood flowing. Shouldn't have really been zoomed in on him like that. Felt like one of those times where in (insert wrestling company here, but most notably WWE) when they have the steady cam with a mic right up somebody's nose exactly when they're blatanly callinig spots. If the cameraman backed up just a couple of steps and turn down/off that mic, it wouldn't be that obvious. That was more of a technical snafu, though, that wouldn't have been caught if they were on a shot of Jericho right then. On the other thing: I wasn't aware of him having his own sammich. Guess "Swaggie Time" remains. Don't need it. The updated gif should be him fixing his hair from his entrance now. |

Because it disadvantages you. If it's a real eye-patch, it handicaps him. If it's something he can see through then he still has to act like he can't see out of it, which handicaps him.

Mox is so confident in himself that he handicapped himself and still won. Boom, problem solved

I thought waiting until the end of the match to take off the eye patch was weird too, personally. Would have made more sense to have Jericho pop him in the eye early on in the match, Moxley sell tf out of it while Jericho gloats, and then Moxley suddenly stops selling and takes the eye patch off and throws it into the crowd.
I'm assuming the logic behind the decision was knowing that fans are probably expecting the eye injury to be fake already and know Moxley is going to take the eye patch off. But if they have him wrestle almost the whole match while wearing the eye patch and selling it, fans might be suddenly fooled back into a mindset where they think the injury is real over the course of the match. |

Sure it does. He lulled Jericho into a false sense of security, and then won because of it

Why would he need a false sense of security if he's so confident he can pretend he's working with impaired vision the whole time? It doesn't make sense any way you slice it.

Someone quote this to Noid:
Say the Ambrose eyepatch thing was a misfire (which in fairness, it sounds like it was), then what? Should AEW shut down? Should we all stop watching? I just don't understand what you're trying to do here. |

I dunno about that one. Even if it were, that sort of thing is still a misstep and plays itself out to be nonsensical. I’m sure they will try to retcon things on Dynamite since they seem to chase their tails with that sort of stuff, and a lot more people are like “Hang on” than I thought.
