Cage match was very good overall.
Starting to think Cody might be legit crazy considering some of the stuff he's done in AEW. This week's episode was very good overall. Last week felt a bit better or more complete but this week did just as good of a job building up for Revolution. |

I hope they use this steel cage going forward. Fucking legit setup. I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have from the images earlier.

Cody is psychotic lol. He's gonna die in the ring one day. Maybe he's been dead for years and his nerves are still firing on their own. Holy shit is it entertaining though.

Wardlow needs different ring attire if he's going to wrestle in the future

His entire character is just in a different realm than everything else. The promos, the drama in his matches, his facial expressions. I feel like Cody may be the only guy left in the business who really “gets” what makes wrestling good.

The reason Cody is so amazing is because he can follow a match like Lucha Bro's vs Hangman and Omega... with F'n Wardlow. He has so much drama in his segments and matches man I am so high on that Cage Match.

Watching the clips it just doesn't hook me. Props to Cody for doing the spot and getting real juice and trying his little heart out, but it just...doesn't matter. Like, watch a clip of Cody doing that and then watch Angle do it off a cage. Angle has got the psychology of trying to escape first. It's far more "shocking" too. Now you expect big moves off cages like that.
I also hate the circle-jerk "off air" comments. It's so self-congratulatory. Feels like they should play "We're All in This Together" at the end of every episode. Cody seemingly "gets it" when he has to, but even he needs to keep winking at this audience to remind them that he loves them and needs them and oh please like me. It's so...needy. It reeks of desperation. And why the fuck is Brandi Rhodes out there looking all happy? Wasn't she just a heel a few days ago? Fuck. WWE would get dragged along the coals for that one, but because these guys suck the fans' dick after calling them stupid, they get away with it. At first I thought Cody was one of the few guys who got it. Now there's a part of me that is suspicious that he wants to be the only one who gets it so he stands out and has relevance to the company. I hope I am wrong about that, and I hate that I have been made so cynical by shitty TV for so long. I will read the recap of Revolution and see if Cody vs. MJF is something I want to check out or something I can live without seeing. |

When WWE puts two guys who don't trust each other as a tag team they get blasted for using the old Russo "tag team partners that don't get along" trope. He comes Omega & Page, one of them doing a shitty Scott Hall towards the dying days of WCW gimmick, and people are all over it.
Eh. To each their own, I guess. Modern wrestling isn't for me. All the stuff that was mocked when I became a fan is now en vogue and held up as "classic." If Kenny Omega fell off the tron next week, people would call it an "excellent story" and tell me to "be patient" with this. |

"Judas" has been released for almost 3 years now, so it's not like the crowd gathered outside and voted on this.

Jericho is a heel. The fans shouldn’t be singing his theme. It’s also more of that self-congratulatory behavior. The sort of thing that makes being a wrestling fan even more uncool than it inherently is.
I don’t understand. |

Wrestling expert Noid completely failing to realize that his "favourite wrestler" Minoru Suzuki is a super heel who has a theme song the crowd sing along to and that he actively encourages it / is genuinely upset when they dont.

Not sure what Minoru Suzuki has to do with it either. There’s nothing that excludes fans singing along with that as stupid, and they’re two different gimmicks as well. Suzuki seems more a bully that you sing along with to promote the carnage and epic fight you’re about to see; AEW fans are just patting themselves on the back as Jericho chews scenery. This is Fandangoing. WWE gets dragged for doing this sort of shit, and the Full Sail audience gets ripped apart, as did the Impact Zone. |

No one had a problem with the fans Fandangoing. WWE got shit for it because they handled it with their usual heavy hands and tried to force the issue.
Nakamura’s Takeover entrances were downright captivating and the fans singing his song was a big part of that. Same thing with the Sandman. I really fail to see how this is a bad thing at all. |

What they cared about was WWE's ridiculously awful, pathetic, and certainly, over the top attempt, to capitalize on it/Fandango and make it even more of a "thing"... especially because, until then, they essentially repeatedly shit on and refused to really acknowledge/push Fandango, despite his obvious growing popularity in the 6+ months prior. This is Anything Else Wrestling. They are still doing WWE bullshit and cashing in on a dedicated section of fans making excuses for them because they aren’t WWE. That’s valid for some people, but I wanted something with a bit more meat to it. Oh well, when the next millionaire decides they want to cash in on TV rights fees, maybe? Man, it’s just so weird to me how many people will just straight-up refuse to admit things like their dropped storylines. If this were any other TV show, they would have been eviscerated for that bullshit. There have been at least four off the top of my head, and I’m surely missing some. That’s bad television. There’s no other way to dice it. But if you say AEW is bad television, people get legitimately upset, call you all sorts of names and suggest that you must adore WWE or some shit. They’re both fucking bad. |
