The crown prince is desperately trying to modernize the culture. Its why he's been reaching out to western entertainment and bringing them in to hold shows. He's attempting to shift the cultural barometer and bring them to western standards. He sees the long term economic ramifications green energy will have on Saudi wealth and is moving to to diversify their options.

Womens rights may lag western society by over 50 years but since his rise theyve made generational leaps in short order. While the culture may not be ready to have fully diverse shows inside the nation Saudi Arabian companies own thousands of international companies that have thousands of female employees. You dont just snap your fingers and have culture changes of this magnitude. Any example of attempting to throughout history has led in bloodshed.

Will there be an all female show held inside Suadi Arabia in the next decade? Unlikely. But they are trending toward modern cultural norms and there is absolutely no reason to think they will manage their international investments in a way that jeopardizes profits.

Now if the women cant hold their weight and draw as equals id be skeptical if they get special treatment like they certainly would now but if they can continue to draw and move t shirts theyll be fine.

The more cultural ties Saudi has to the west the better it is for womens rights. Oppose that at their peril.

Even if Saudi owned I would imagine they will still do business out of the US, picking up and moving the whole kit and kaboodle to the Middle East isn’t smart.

Maybe in the long term but not any time soon.

That said this still feels like a terrible outcome, whether you see buyer interference in the WWE as the negative or the much more likely Vince micro manages it into the ground.

Personally I could see a little of both.

Destor is right about the women's wrestling. They're not going to pay billions of dollars for this company and just gut a whole portion of it. Especially when some of the bigger female stars bring in a lot of profits.

That said, women's rights is hardly the only controversy facing the saudi government, and there could be a lot of people uncomfortable working with them. I can't see Sami and KO sticking around, for example. And with AEW and even NJPW throwing around big contracts, a lot of people on the roster have options.

So I don't know much about wrestling contracts.

But if the company is sold, don't the majority of contracts become null and void with new ownership. Or would those carry over to the new owners.

Just curious. Because if they become null and void, Vince can't sell to the Saudi's IF he expects to stay on as the new head of creative. 1/2 the roster would leave.

Im sure they will assume the contracts. They would not buy the company and not lock in their talent. This isnt WCW going out of business - the company isnt closing.

Vince and HHH would have to stay in creative as part of the deal. Logically this is the only play.

True, but it’s an extremely scary prospect nonetheless—and not just for fans of WWE, but for anyone who considers themselves a professional wrestling fan of any sort. They would have control over a vast library of a huge portion of professional wrestling history without much motivation to use any of it.

They would likely use WWE, as they have with the Crown Jewel shows, use it as a sportswashing platform—a way to use the company for P.R. spin for their country to try and convince everyone how great it is and make them forget the killing of a journalist there years ago, or the fact that it’s one of the most dangerous and totalitarian places on earth to live or visit, as the royal family can decide to detain and/or kill anyone within their borders for absolutely no reason.

All of this without even mentioning, what if (in the event any of this news is actually proven true) after their “Vision 2030” program runs out, they decide to dissolve the company completely? That would likely either doom the professional wrestling industry completely or put it on extremely borrowed time and numbered days.
