Dennis SummerSlam owns a corner store near where I live. Makes people call him “Mr. SummerSlam.”

Shawn Michaels has to be up there though. I'm going through Angle's SummerSlam career. I have no memory of Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero from '04 or Angle vs. Eugene from '05.

Slik is right. It's Brock Lesnar.
Main evented Summerslam 8 times. Main evented 6 years in a row and 7 of the last 8. Became the youngest WWE champion at Summerslam. Won the most dominant WWE title match at Summerslam vs Cena. Won with one of the most brutal endings ever at Summerslam vs Orton. Won a great match over CM Punk at Summerslam. Put over Reigns and Rollins big in back to back years at Summerslam. Put on a clinic with Kurt Angle at Summerslam. Beat 3 monsters in a fatal four-way at Summerslam. AND best of all, he broke that jerk Triple H's arm at Summerslam! Bret had 4 great singles matches at Summerslam, vs Perfect, Bulldog, Owen, and Taker. He also had 3 tag matches with Anvil, was part of the 14 man match best known as the beginning of The Nexus being buried, a 6 minute DQ against Lawler and a weird match against a young Dr Isaac Yankem. Also an odd choice, he had a match with Doink at Summerslam the year after main eventing with Bulldog. There is more downers from Bret (no fault of his own). Brock has been at least semi main event every single Summerslam he has been a part of. |

Brock falls down because SummerSlam just isn't that significant anymore. I thought about him for a bit, but then I had to rack my brain as to what he's actually done. I guess the Cena and Punk stuff is kind of memorable.
I associate Brock more with Survivor Series, since he has fucking owned that PPV since 2016. The advantage Bret has is that what he has done at SummerSlam lives in wrestling lore. Mr. Perfect and Davey Boy are two of the best matches in company history. His match with Owen is kind of polarizing, but those who love it sometimes love it even more than those other two classics. Bret vs. Taker is remembered as having one of the best finishes of all-time, and it's the first time a heel left a major WWF PPV as champion, isn't it? The Doink/Bret/Lawler stuff is classic in an entirely different way. The Hart Foundation tags are really fondly remembered. The only real "miss" is his match with Isaac Yankem in 1995. I love me some Brock, but the company has let him down by providing him with stuff that just gets forgotten. No one really remembers Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins or even Randy Orton. And I cannot tell you who was even in that four-way match without looking. Was it Braun, Joe and Reigns? Just a guess. * Bret/Perfect beats Brock/Angle * Bret/Davey beats Brock/Punk * Bret/Taker and Brock/Rock can cancel each other out * Bret/Doink can beat Brock/Cena * Harts/Demos can beat the four-way * Harts/Demos can beat Brock/Orton * Harts/Brain Busters can beat Brock/Triple H |

This has made me want to see Brock Lesnar vs. Bret Hart, and SummerSlam would be the perfect place for that dream match.
There's an idea for a thread: Dream matches and the event you'd like to see them at. Brock vs. Shawn Michaels would be awesome at a Survivor Series. Shawn can play it up like karma coming back to get him there. |

Agree with Noid's Bret/Brock logic. Summerslam "doesn't matter anymore" so the majority of Brock's matches really aren't on the level of Bret's.
