I'm having 'persistent game' fatigue where with so many games demanding extended investment of time (a bubble that's going to burst very soon), certain games I simply can't dive into because I know I won't play enough to get much out of it. It's the reason I haven't returned to GTA Online or even played more than the first two hours of Red Dead Online because I simply don't have time to explore these kinds of games.

Also the whole 'single player in non-combat, multiplayer in missions' thing is just mechanically weird and I imagine one of the first big updates for a Year 2 or 3 is proper social spaces. And PvP for that matter, whose exclusion is also a bit sour to me.

Plays pretty good, tho. In a Lost Planet x Iron Man kinda way.

Just tried the demo.

I think I went 15-20 minutes before I said "Nope. Not happening"

And, Kalyx is right. Numbers I heard was EA/Bioware gotta clear 10 million copies in about 2 weeks if Bioware has any chance of surviving. Be it either total shut down or staff cuts.

I really like how it feels. The DNA of Mass Effects combat is definitely in there, right down to the focus on comboing abilities for max damage, but this feels weightier. Everything has more punch to it.

This game looks great, but the micro transactions could kill it. Micro transactions are killing he industry and pushing people to retro. I dont mind that, but it amazes me that gaming developers like EA or Ubisoft dont get this. They are killing the game industry for a quick buck.

Anthem deserves to be great, but it wont be because it's an EA game.

Fuck em’. I’m having a blast so far.

Certain things could be better but the game is fun to play. Imagine that.

Feel like gaming has just become full of drama queens. Everything is either a masterpiece or gets roasted as if it’s asset flip steam trash.

I’d say redbox it if you’re unsure.

Based on sales data from the UK, seems the game might be selling poorly in the region.

Debuted at #1 for the week but with a big catch and its likely digital sales didn't fill in the gap, especially after the general poor reception in terms of reviews and word-of-mouth.

I'm 17 levels in and still scratching my head at the level of hate the game is getting.

It has its flaws, but overall a fun game.

Apparently the PS4 version currently has a nasty bug that not only crashes the game but also shut downs the console as a result. In some cases it has also caused PS4s to become bricked but that problem is fixable via a quick fix method.

notes from the dev stream:

Legendary Missions:
Somewhere between Legendary contracts and SH for difficulty. Should have a group. Can do as many times a day as you want. Will have at least 1 "Apex" monster (Titan, Ursix, fury) also has a chest at the end.

Elysian Chest:
Daily mission to get a key.
The key is used at the end of stronghold. One key is good for all 4 players. So, 1 key is chest for everyone. 4 keys is 4 chests for everyone. Will never get a duplicate vanity item. Can get armor, embers or other crafting materials.

Strongholds:
Bosses now drop 1 guaranteed MW and the other drops are now rolled drops. So can be multiple MW or even legendary now! Can no longer join a Stronghold after a set amount of time has passed. No more farming Monitor......

Forge:
Can access the forge with no more load screen now! Also has a new display for listing all your equiped items.

Misc:
Interact bug is fixed
Lot of buffs
New components
Storm components fixed

Other:
New Universal MW, one for each weapon type. An example being shot gun, more damage and if 7 pellets hit it'll apply acid.

Flight has been extended 20% across the board, overheating time decreased 20%.

Interceptor, no longer need to mash the melee button for normal attacks. Can press and hold. Does not apply to ultimate though.

That's all for my notes! Looking forward to the update next week! Oh, new armors should be in the store next week for Interceptor and Colossus.

Edit: They also fixed fog walls and the timer reset when someone tries to revive you.

Kotaku had a really interesting article recently about the behind-the-scenes issues that caused the game to have a rocky launch and the issues its had since then.

Article goes way more in depth involving all the issues that went down. Whole thing pretty much boils down to the general incompetence of Bioware's management and EA's involvement being way more damaging than helpful for the game.

While there was some EA fuckery, and being forced to use frostbite was a major deterrence, the bulk of the blame seems to fall at Bioware Edmonton's management.
