Referee Sheamus?
Sheamus hasn't wrestled on-screen since the SmackDown after Mania and then The Bar got broken up with no explanation offered other than Cesaro being drafted to Raw. Now been posting photos and videos of him in a referee shirt. |

He's been working through spinal stenosis for a year and a half or so, but it was clear his in-ring career was going to be on borrowed time from there.
I figured he'd get a backstage gig, never considered he'd become an official. |

Feel like it was jarring enough seeing Nunzio as a referee, nevermind a massive ginger who might well be bigger than the wrestlers in the match.

I was gonna say he decided to become a barber and work at Sportclips judging by the photo. But the zebra shirts aren't Sportlclips uniforms.
He'd be such a distraction in the ring if the went the ref route. At least Shane was able to pull it off when Vince made him do it way back when. Barely knew he was there. |

Sheamus could be the "John McCarthy" of WWE. Alot of new takes that you only got from celebrity refs (Tyson, Ken Shamrock). A guy that size can't take a ref bump, so how does he react to getting hit by other guys? He can be "manipulated", but also be the hard line to a dick heel. More believeable if he gets involved in breakups or if 2 guys have a blood feud that no regular ref wants to take.
I just see alot of opportunity. |

Seems like he's too big for the job and will make the wrestlers look small (even after dropping the weight)... but I guess we shall see....

I would say they'd be smarter than to throw him in matches with 205 guys, but if their booking and writing is the shits, why would they suddenly employ a smart ref rotation?

Spinal stenosis would make it incredibly difficult to maintain mass surely?
Last thing you want is a ref that can barely lift his arms. |

he just needs to go around randomly brogue kicking people and then counting the 3 himself while he wears the ref shirt. that'll be fun for a month

Good for him. I can imagine that carrying around that bulk and hitting the heavy weights that hard is probably not good for an eroded spine. It's weird to imagine him refereeing, but it'd be nice to have a ref with some personality. I can see him becoming a signature official.

I always thought Jamie Noble would make a good referee. I don't know why. Maybe I just want to him calling wrestlers "boy" during matches?
